@@KiraAotsuki Actually the runes are Germanic as the text is Elder Futhark. Unfortunately, there isn't a direct translation of them. If you tried to translate the runes, you'd just get more or less how the sentence is said phonetically.

Gah stands for Gift Odin Air, Zan is Protection Odin Necessity, Tak is for Victory Odin Knowledge, Tat is for Victory Odin Victory, Brak is Birth Wheel Odin - all deriving from Elder Futhark, runes of Norse.
Probably has something to do with the fact that she voices Uta in the Dubbed version.

Its an Elder Futhark runic chant, chants don't really have translations but these words "translated" ramble on about different things to call gods and white trees (random nonsense) BUT, if you reverse the lyrics and translate them into german, Swedish, Hungarian and basque you get "Karb (person name?) Kat (Another person?) {TATTAT} Burgurlar/pirate {NAZHAG} Meeting {KIEG} Burning {NOGEN} Somebody {HAL EZZET} Hells {SAHPHAN} Fighting"

I'm actually very impressed with those growls that you did. That's the most intimidating thing to replicate with Ado songs in my opinion, but you did great! Very well done, I'm sure she'd approve as well.
Seeing how well someone can handle Ado's growls are some of my favorite things to watch out for on covers of her songs, and yeah, AmaLee does a great job with 'em here.

@@poof9327 Yep. She did her absolute best but anyone with at least decent ears can tell Ado is on a different level; the song was made for her to perform after all. Plus this cover has no nuance or sense of progression/storytelling compared to the original. Between the vocals and the arrangement they made it sound like something out of an Evanescence album rather than something that shows up in the context of a movie.
(For the record, I love both AmaLee and Evanescence lol)

Not to poor any hate onto Amalee, she did her best, but she also used a fuck ton of auto tune that was kinda super obvious compared to Ado who is just absolutely pure talent. This coming from someone who had barely even heard of Ado a few weeks ago, but is now a huge fan.
Is it a trend nowadays to talk about whatever without actually knowing about the subject ? Do some of you think that because someone can growl/scream it means they are better than anyone else ? Ado is extremely talented, just like Amanda who's been singing far longer than her and thus has more experience. They have different techniques and are very good singers in their own styles. Amanda did very good with this cover, singing it her OWN way while still retaining the screamy side of the original.

Over the years, you've covered songs that tested your limits. Tot Musica is definitely up there as one of the most challenging songs you've recorded vocals for, and you rose to the challenge. Even one working vocal chord can achieve much when challenged! Salute!!!

@@Juju2927 The Japanese was kept in since the film was meant to advertise for Ado. So the Japanese being kept was so american audiences could hear Ado sing and thus buy her music

It's weird because in the spanish and catalan version the songs are dubbed.
@@NekoinaBox2000 Yeah. I mean... I don't think she'd be that predatory either. But I don't think they'd just be paying her. It's be for extra studio time, sound equipment staff etc. So maybe they just couldn't afford to dub the songs officially... or they didn't have the rights to cover the songs in english.
Licencing agreements are just really tricky to navigate. Considering the time and money to invest in all this... it was probably easier for them to just slap subtitles on for the songs. The studio probably didn't have enough time even if amalee oferred to do it for free.
It wasn't like in film gold where there was one grand song at the begininng. This one has 6 full songs. Those take time.
What makes this song scary is that it was sung only by free will when Uta had truly become unhinged and lost most of her reason from the lack of sleep and constantly having her version of bringing peace denied over and over. The Death Music influenced her unstable mind into unleashing it.
It's also sad, in that the lyrics imply a pain held deep inside for a long time is being unleashed. And pain can wash over a radius depending on its strength. Just look at what the pain of Ultron nearly did to the world. In the end some are broken and lashing out in confusion.
I keep returning to this version over and over again. Both versions leave me absolutely breathless but this version....AmaLee this year has been one of the most challenging for me in a long long time. And your voice, the impact, the passion and strength that it expresses leaves me feeling released. It's as if all that I have experienced this year is being poured out through the raw delivery of the lyrics. Thank you for this. This song speaks for me especially in the moments when I don't even understand my own voice

This English cover is freaking amazing! This is my favorite track on the OST by a large margin. You absolutely crushed this! (Just make sure to take care of your voice). I'm sure there were contract agreements in play and whatnot for Ado but CR and Toei missed out big time on having you do a complete English set for the OST. It would've been so cool to see and would've really raised the bar for the dubbed version. I'm usually a sub enjoyer but that would've really elevated the entire experience for the dub watchers.

@@johnnysasaki The English dub is likely their second largest money maker. Ado was also recently signed by an American label. It's highly likely that Ado's original versions were left in because her label(s) are trying to increase her exposure and popularity to the English speaking community. It may have even been contractually required during the process of signing Ado as Uta's voice. They do weird stuff like that sometimes to promote people.
Regardless... it's still a big missed opportunity cuz Amalee would've knocked it out of the park for sure.
I am incredibly impressed with the growls. A part I found unique and love about Ado's singing is the growling, and you were both able to imitate and have your own spin! Love this cover!

I knew the lyrics would remain almost unchanged. Like, when I was listening to the song for the billionth time, I noticed that almost every syllable matched and this would be very easy to sing to in English without changes.

Ugh I got to comment the deep growls in those runes is what makes it the best. The pronunciation of them and the power. God I love this matches Uta but this gives that growl and power to a whole new level. Love it can’t have enough of it.
I'm glad to hear this in English. There's not a lot of professional singers who have the pipes like Ado. But you definitely did this song justice and it's nice to able to close my eyes, sing along, and understand what's being said without having to read the lyrics. I really hope you cover all of the songs and that they appear on the blu-ray version of the movie.
I went to see the movie on Saturday with my girlfriend. You were awesome as Uta! I can't wait for the home release so I can watch it again! 😁
After having watched the movie, I had made the comment to my friends that somehow the character written for Uta, in different ways, managed to mirror both of her real life counterparts so scarily well.
In Ado's case, Uta's backstory is very nearly 1 to 1. Started singing 2 years ago. Entirely done via broadcast and no one had ever seen her face before. Now here at the stage of this movie, both of them have their "big debut" of sorts, where they come out into the spotlight fully.
In AmaLee's (i.e. Monarch) case, the other part of her backstory fits so well. She was beloved by many (the Red Hair Pirates) and adored for her song. Then tragedy befell and she grew lost, believing herself to have been betrayed and abandoned. Eventually that inner turmoil turned to ruinous thoughts and she emerges as a villain in somebody else's story.
In Ado's case I can only imagine some of that is intentional, but damn if Oda didn't just peer into the future and pick out a story that would fit you as well!
I loved this movie so much, am I the only one? I saw so many dumb people saying it that the singing was boring
