    The thing about the south... our food usually doesn't look very appealing. But what it lacks in visual appeal, it more than makes up for in raw TASTE and FLAVOR!

      The same can be said of a lot of Indian dishes. It looks odd, but tastes great. Panak Paneer for example.

    Pecans are a nice nut. These are mixed with a bit of cinnamon and roasted for more flavor. We eat them fresh, use them as a topping on cakes and pies,

    Meat jerky is a good travel food because it’s a lean source of protein and doesn’t spoil.

    They didn't even show any of the sandwiches (brisket, turkey, chicken), beaver chips, and breakfast sandwiches, beverages; not to mention camping gear, clothes, collectables, or any of the other items, too many to mention.

    You should definitely look up some of the other Jolly videos eating in America: Texas BBQ, Southern Comfort, TexMex, real Superbowl Sunday, Biscuits and Gravy, then there's one that's off the beaten path in Savanah, there are two street food ones each featuring great Taco Trucks, a couple comparing USA McDonald's and UK McDonald's. All really fun watches ❤❤❤❤❤

    Fortunately I'm not obese even at 71 & with 3 Buc-ee's around me. Most of their food is surprisingly good. If you get to go sometime, checkout the surgically clean bathrooms & take a picture with Buc-ee. The rest can be a surprise.

      Seriously amazing when folks don't visit a Buc-ees --- like he said the number of gas pumps, then you go in to the store and its overwhelming.

    Here in the States the markup on a gallon of gas is somewhere 10 cents! So they put up a store that is geared towards people road tripping!

    • @hardtackbeans9790
      @hardtackbeans9790 Před rokem

      So true. Many people think their local gas station gouges them with the gas prices. When in fact, many stations sell that at a lose to get you to buy a cold drink. There is a huge markup on those.

    To be fair, they picked a bad flavor of Beef Jerky. I usually go with Beef Terriyaki. You almost can't go wrong with that flavor. It's slightly sweet and slightly spicy at the same time. But you can still taste the beef. And that's what's most important. I would have never gone with the Cherry Maple variety.
    And if you don't know, and I'm only guessing here...don't roast me, but making Jerky is the process of drying out meat so that you can store it got long periods of time without refrigeration or freezing. Pioneers and Native Tribes used to make it for traveling around so that they c old have a high protein food item that didn't need to be prepared. You just take it out of your saddle bag and eat it. The only problem is, it's quite expensive. Not sure why, but for some reason, it's always been several dollars more than you'd think it'd be.

    • @TheDeadStretch
      @TheDeadStretch Před rokem +2

      That's the thing they didn't pick the Jerky flavor, they asked for the "most popular" and the guy behind the counter looked and though "what's not selling that I can get rid of? These out of towners won't even know better." When in reality to see what was the more popular one just look to see which tray and the less amount of Jerky in it.

    You can make it yourself. There's plenty of recipes online for not just sausage gravy but also other gravies and the buttermilk biscuits. You can also do unsweetened iced tea as an option. I hope you can find the time to do it. Because it is amazing when enjoyed. You can also do the same with banana pudding.

    Yes, the gas stations in the USA usually have a convenience store attached. Usually, they are small and sell individual bottles of soda/cola, candy, cigarettes, just whatever basic snack foods you might want to eat on a journey to take the edge off of hunger until you can get a proper meal. Some of them might even sell some cooked foods, such as hot dogs or pastries, such as donuts. They may even have jugs of milk available for people in the nearby neighborhoods in case the grocery stores are closed. Buc-ee's is a huge convenience store from what I've been told. We only just got our first Buc-ee's in my State within the last couple of years. I haven't had the chance to go check it out for myself, but my husband and daughter did get to. They said that it had a lot more food offerings, particularly cooked foods. They seemed to like the place although my husband said that it was much more expensive than what he is used to paying at a regular gas station convenience store.

    Bucees will let you sample the jerky for you to find one you like. The biggest gas station in the world is at the New Braunfels, Texas location with 120 gas pumps. Bucees is pretty famous for its BBQ but Jolly didn't sample any of it. Beef Jerky is heavily spiced, smoked, dehydrated strips of beef. It was invented by cowboys in the 1800s that used to eat meat while on horseback when they were driving their herds of cattle from the ranches to the stock yards, weeks on end, sometimes several states over. Jerky doesn't require refrigeration. It can also be made with other meats.

    I could send my recipe for bisquits and gravy, it’s fairly simple. Most ingredients are very basic(flour salt onion garlic) there are maybe 3 that could pose a problem. Evaporated(or unsweetened condensed) milk, the actual sausage, and baking powder. The baking powder I’m fairly certain really isn’t an issue but I’m not sure. It may be called something else in India.

    Stop and consider: proper biscuits and gravy is composed of these simple things… butter, flour, ground sausage (and it’s grease) black pepper, salt and water. Arranged in their proper order, YOU can make proper biscuits and gravy. It’s not rocket science. It DOES take artistry, though 😊
