Good video. Just wondering if there are any plans to make a differential with reverse like this? I have heard of one company that makes it. But i like the simple yet effective design of this. My project is a FF motorcycle powered 1969 Saab 96. So i may be ordering one from you guys.
10 years later, these gearbox’s are still scarce. Would have thought the Chinese would have jumped at creating a similar product. I’m going to be using a Polaris Sportsman case but this is still far from ideal
So the chain would go from the engine to this then another chain would run from this to the wheels? Does this just change the direction the chain spins? So if you put it in reverse you can still shift threw all the gears or is reverse its own gear?
Wondering because I want to build a half scale rally car like them little half scale nascars but model mine after a rally car and use it for off-road rally racing and I want to use a 600 or 1000cc engine from a sport bike but not sure how a reverse would be possible
Mike Fawc Big is better. Use a Hayabusa engine or similar. Mount the motor sideways into your frame. Line this FNR gearbox with your engines output shaft and splice together. On the other side of this FNR gearbox splice in a LSD Mazda mx5 torsen diff to drive some cv axles. If your really an adventurous engineer, then add some four wheel steering into the rear end...
Yea its enough cause your using whatever gear your engine gear box is in say first gear then throw it in reverse in this gear box so if first can take you forward its slightly lower in this reverse box. You could be in 2nd in your bike engine box and throw it in reverse and feather the clutch and be just fine its to get a heavy bike out of a spot say an incline or you got a passenger and foot power isnt enough. Usually reverse is only used a few feet at a time
What is needed is a unit like this that acts as a center axle with ether a diff or a spool. Then it needs reverse and everything needs to be made with quick change gears from a franklin QC rear end these are stock car type rear ends.

so where are we gone put this do they interfere with gear changing or when we reverse it we have a gear change for the reverse
You would have all forward gears for R also .. This does not modify the transmission . Just a reversing jackshaft ..
