- This is from the Sugarcubes reunion gig in Reykjavik. Yes, it's from 2006! It was their first gig in 14 years and they haven't played live since. For the record I think Einar (trumpet) is awesome.
- Hudba
It's amazing how she sounds exactly the same as the record 20 years later.
Since 1988 to 2006, and now, she have the same voice quality.
Yeah that's freaking amazing! Hits the notes, still has the growl , same tone........amazing
That’s not unique for great vocal artist Such as Bjork. Not singers or performers but ARTISTS!!!
i e. Berverly Sills, Megan Hart, Billie Holiday. Ella Fitzgerald , Ronstadt, Garland, Aretha, Etta, Mariah, ShaniaJulie Andrews. on and on and on.
That's not true nowadays tho. Vulnicura live had some nice performances (i'm looking at you "all neon like"), but clearly even the surgery didn't get her back 100%.
@@10mimu Most of it is just age, but she stills sings amazing. It’s a little sad to me though that so many of her songs have to be pitched down in order for her to keep up with them. Especially songs i’d love to hear live in their original key like Lionsong, Notget, Crystalline, Arisen My Senses, even Freefall!
@@gxngy6612 Yeah... it's kinda inevitable. She wasn't going to always sound like a fairy. But, I have faith in her artistic instincts to find the right instrumentals for her vocals. Fossora is proof she won't disappoint
I can't explain what this song does to me but I get chills and have to say this has to be one of if not the best song to come out of the 80s.
Yep, weird song.. But there's just something about it... Listened alot to sugarcubes back in the day..
she sounds as good now as she did back in the mid 80's what an awesome once in a generation talent.
Her voice literally hasn't changed since when she started even now, it just she's matured and controlled a voice a bit more, perhaps due to the vocal surgery she had and the consequence of not training the voice which causes it, she's just brilliant
I was there! I was there! I was there!
Can still hardly belive it; a world away from Adelaide, South Australia!
Adelaide, represent!! How were you there? Did you fly over there to see them live?
Me too, in the first rang.
Used to sing softened version of this and Regina to my little girl as lullabies. Little bit of magic for baby.
I can't put into words how much I love the uniqueness Einar brought to the band
Yes, this
i was there and i cry during this song it was so beautiful!
i still havent grasped the thought of actually have seen the sugarcubes!!!
Same ❤️... same. So grateful to have been there and to witness them all in their magical glory.
I really wish I could've been there, and I sincerely hope they release this on DVD because I'd treasure it forever.
she's the real deal. that voice Perfection
I heard this band do this song at Umass in 1987.
Unforgettable.
She is truly amazing.
Homegirl can still hit those high notes.
you using homegirl before it was cool though
@@amgm1996 Bro what? 😂
@@bluemcdaniel99 Seems like a compliment
@@10mimu Homegirl was cool in the 70’s.
@@bluemcdaniel99 Ya, but 15 years ago it wasn't, and it's cool now!
I used to get e-mails from Icelandair (the Icelandic national airline) & I remember them having a contest to win airfare and tickets to go to this concert. Damn, I would have killed to be there to see this live! I envy anyone who had the opportunity!
Considering this was shot 7 years ago on a non-professional digital camera, I don't think the sound is too crappy.
Oh man this was nearly ten years ago, how time pass.
I agree. I was there as a sophomore in college. I'm 4 years out of school.now, Where did the time go?!
same!
14 years 😅
17 yrs ago now
Oh my god she sings this so perfectly.. she is just wonderful
No puedo describir la emoción que ella me hace sentir 😍
@daxeshalleck yes, and the crowd cheered because the concert was for the 20th anniversary of their first single, which was "Birthday". so it was "Birthday"'s birthday!!!
Good to hear this brilliant and profound song still being performed. I had heard Bjork was a bit put off it by the ignorant criticism. It's a wonderful tune with some of the most beautiful words, describing child hood memories ever made.
Dear God. Bjork is a force of nature.
I don't think our species will ever see another one like her.
JediNiyte Håkan Hellström is like her but he Sings in Swedish
This comment makes me want to cry... it is so true. Life is so finite... we must cherish her while we get to have her here with us.
3 Things that make this Great
1. It's in Reykjavik (/hmtwn girl/hero's return so many years later
2. It's in her native tounge.
3.Live -hmteam advantage when it comes to live artists r usually Stellar..imo
. Was gonna Tweet the Original but this sounded like a good idea hearing of their breif Reunion.. @ManNeiger
Dios, esos gritos, esa voz... Bjork, ven a gritarme en el oído! Te amo!
Wow. Band is great, Bjork's voice is transcendent after all these years. Amazing.
it's amazing how she makes everyone else in the band look so small. this woman never seizes to amaze me.
My first gig was sugacubes,.. maybe my best still
can't believe it, what a voice
The same voice for 24 years... Björk is a GODDESS
Wow!! I cannot believe that this is almost 20 yrs after the song first came out and she sounds the same if not better!!! I totally agree with you czerwony45.
I am as thrilled with her performance as when I first heard her. Kudos to her.
I really miss The Sugarcubes. Such good stuff!!
Wish I could have been there.
I still get the chills when I hear this song.
I was at this concert!!! It was awesome. Not too many people.
She turned up for her old crew, that is so uniquely cool. I Love... THIS SONG!
You're very lucky to have been there, it's excellent. I saw them about 17 years ago, jeez I'm getting old
Holy wow! I had no idea there was a reunion. Very awesome. Her voice still sounds as great as it did then.
Grandiosa BJORK, grandiosos los SUGARCUBES, saludos desde SANTIAGO de CHILE.
I really like Björk the most in Sugarcubes, don't know, I think that her voice is better in this band than in her solo career cause here she reaches high notes.
Seems to me she reaches high notes in her own songs, as well. Although high notes don't necessarily show someone can sing
Unbelievable! Almost 20 years after recording this song, still sounds the same! ;]
Absolutely beautiful!
Amazing, just perfect, twenty years on and it sounds even better.
Exquisite in every possible way. Bjork is a complete master... And the sugarcubes still sound amazing.
I`m really in love! And I can`t wait to here next album!
This makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
twnty years on and this song MELTS me
i would've flown to iceland to be a part of this. i can't believe how amazing it still sounds- i had to buy "life's too good" 3 times because i wore out the cassettes ^_^ (am now rather glad for iPods)
beautiful just beautiful
I would have thought it impossible to EVER tell if and when Bjork's voice was good, better or best, but I think you may be right. This is divine.
And looks the same.
What is it with Icelandic Pop? Unique and fun and progressive!
Similarly with Andrea Gylfadóttir of Todmobile!
Masterful and awesome.
Those ripping the trumpet player are kind of missing the point. The song is meant to have a detached surreal sound to it, almost elasticated and stretched from the normal realms of a standard musical format. [/pretentious]
Paolo Panza i think it sounds awesome, one of my favorite parts of the song. Reminds me of some of the instrumentation in coraline.
simple, beautiful, so great, the best ever and ever
She’s good, definitely one to watch.
i wore this out played it over n over in my dumptruck!
Awesome. I didn't even know there was a reunion gig. Or maybe I heard about it back then and later forgot. Anyway, this performance is amazing. I wish they had done a full tour.
yup 2006, I remember the day the show went down. Mum opened for them. Oh how I wish I was Icelandic.
so happy i was there!!!
Simply Elegant!
God I love this song
Oh God...I wish I was there!
I watch this and forget to breathe. So Amazing Miss Gu_mundsdottir. The band seems so content being there with her again.
enjoyed that loads
Imagine that there was probably someone in the crowd who saw The Sugarcubes reunited once more and it was their birthday. :”^)))
amazing. saw this 1987 (or when the hell it was) in Metropol Berlin, looks like twas just yesterday.
her voice is the same
even better!!
lost in the music, beautiful
maravilloso!!!
Esto es epico!! 😭💜💜💜
que gran voz la d esta mujer la amo bjork la mejor!!
Sweet!
In purely musical terms, Einar is rubbish. But in The Sugarcubes he offered something weird and unsettling and funny and transcendent that Björk alone, despite her huge talent, has never quite managed to achieve. He's some crazy kind of genius.
they are kinda ying and yang in the bands context
@Widmerpool99 Bjork has done very, very well on her own - he by comparison is just very annoying.Tell me what's he done since the Sugarcubes split up?
I’d forgotten about him until I read this, no he adds little
I agree with you
Eh. I could do without.
i got understand why some guys going crazy on her !!even me once!! she is (and still) wonderfull !!!!! whole world loves you bjork
Still an ASTOUNDING song, even 30 years later!
memories....
It's kinda sad, because she just clearly outshines them all. Not just in technique, but ambition, talent & . . . whatever it is that makes her so special. So glad she outgrew the Sugarcubes, despite how important it was for the complete story.
I don’t know man…the drummer is a fantastic musician.
@@InsinuacionOfficial Frankly, I think even Einar has something to offer. They're all very good -- I think the second best to björk is the keyboard player. But she's on a whole nother level, let's be real. It's like a fucking galaxy amongst stars.
She has ice in her eyes
Yes, the student union! Thats funny. I also saw The The there, Johnny Mar's band after the Smiths. I was guessing on the year that the Sugarcubes played...could've been 88 or 89?
Håkan Hellström and Björk are the only ones that have this kind of ability to express emotion I have heard, amazing
Je t'aime Bjork !! c'est bien qu'elle chante encore ses succes avec Sugarcubes !!
this is crazy, I can not believe my luck !
The mars volta covering this beauty song so nice.
25 years it like it happened yesterday Jiiiimmmm
Wow.
Que voz madreis ❣️❣️❤️🩹❤️🩹
Despues del 2000 Bjork se cayo para siempre
Und ich war dabei... Live..... in der ersten Reihe.... :-D ....... and I was there. live. in the first row.
At 2:15 somebody screamed out right in time! hehe
kick ass!!!!
I love Björk!
I agree, same thing for 'Planet'!
I would like to live there too! You have need for some workforce overe there in Iceland?
3:06 - Quality trumpet playing there...
It suits the song. Helps the atmosphere.
Does anyone have the video (or audio) of 'Leash Called Love'??? I want that song!!!
This world is so much better with Bjork
such a great song, i love björk and the sugarcubes, and i think that they sound so much better in icelandic.
Cool my birthday is November 21 aswell.
@binstig exactly, the song is very jazz orientated
Happy Birthday Tryst
amazing
artists performing songs from their past always makes me a little weepy
@theQuestOfHolyGrail I think in the end that's really what music is all about, to help you remember the good times and unfortunately the bad ones too. But for people like Bjork who has thousands of footage of herself evolving into what she is now, must be pretty eerie to watch and somewhat bittersweet.
The Mars Volta did a cover of this song and it sounds cool as hell, they're big fans of Bjork thats why they covered it.
