- Ibitayo Jeje, better known as the 'Queen of Highlife', released her brand new single and music video titled 'Why You Love Me So' from her forthcoming third album worldwide on Monday 18th November 2013. The video features the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who is debuting in his first creative performance of such.............
Ibitayo is one of Nigeria's truest female music personalities, and is gradually becoming one of the most influential female voices in African International music scene. She started her music career professionally over 10 years ago, and is the daughter of a foremost gospel minister, Rev Bola Arowolo based in the USA.
Her New Album set to be released early 2014 is said to contain African inspired songs and experiences, and her style is a blend of contemporary highlife music, with a fusion of English, pidgin and vernacular. The new song "Why You Love Me So" is musically on point, and lyrically borne out of true real life experiences and her continued reliance on God.
Set Him Off Music, a leading worldwide music label and publishing outfit based in the United Kingdom, describes the new single as "a breath of fresh air", while the G-Vibes Magazine Blog describes it as a "....triumph for modern day music. A beautiful blend of African rhythms, salsa and jazz, which gives it that easy listening vibe, which elevates it into brilliance".
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, features in this classy music video to lend his clout, support, and to further assist in developing our African Indigenous Music Industry, our Culture and this creative generation. Ibitayo strongly believes his action will help role model other African and Nigerian Leaders to look inward, support our way of life, music, and this creative youthful generation. Apostle Anselm Madubuko, Funke Akinokun, Mr Hess Akanji and her Hubby Pastor Ayo Jeje also featured to lend a hand to the cause.
This visually superb music video was shot and directed by Oluyinka Davids (iFocus Pictures), and the song Produced by Mr Wols (Wole Adesanya). Within 24 hours of official video release on Monday the 18th November 2013 already has over 3,500 views on youtube.
When asked to describe herself in a few words, she said "My name is Ibitayo Jeje, I am a musician, an African, and the Queen of Highlife music. I carry God always. Follow me on twitter @Ibitayojeje".

2:40-2:50. Oppression and haughtiness is the new Christian virtue!
nice one. Nice to see baba Iyabo dancing.
Also just to add, Ibitayo looks beautiful in this video.
Yes oh
i like! The music makes a whole lot of sense
Nice sharing
Yo this song is everthing and I'm not even Nigerian
I think saying Obj featured is misleading; people reading the title will thinks he actually sang a verse or played an instrument on the song. The title should have read "cameo appearance by" or "Guest appearance by Obj" on the video, not "featuring".
Nice track by the way..
Wow.... Sis Ibitayo you nailed this highlife... See Amazin's latest traditional dance music video Amazin' Ijeoma ~ Igbo Dance Gospel Video 2014 "Nkemjikanma"

Nice One Ibitayo... I love the video and the concept of highlife style being incorporated into Gospel. Do not mind the critics that made comments about OBJ, How could he say is a big mistake. OBJ is human being like everyone else. Ride on girl. Just enjoy the music and leave OBJ alone. This is not a political review. Please look at things objectively. haa,
+Gbenga Crown If there is no form of criticism there cannot be substantial improvement. But more importantly it means there isn't any liberty. Oppositions to your viewpoint signify diversity, and as long people are not impolite about stating their different opinions, they should be entertained. It stimulates the mind and expands your world. Everyone cannot be just like you or see things the way you see them.
Love it

Oyin Oladipo hello... please give me the lyrics of this song
unique song
Ehba!
Hello !!! I need lyrics of this song..
Thumbs up Ibitayo Jeje with your composition and excellent performance. Dir. Oluyinka Davids, you need to come up with a more realistic concept this was a bit misleading, more grease to your elbow. Lovely video grading too.
extremely beautiful song..but the video is kind of misleading or maybe i didnt just get it
yea
😭
!!!!!!
as i dey sing i dey sing, you give me answer rekpete
Nija people and boosting... FT Segun Obasanjo. #hiss this is is suppose to be gospel o. Nothing wrong with him being in the video y'all making me laugh
Why hiss at the video tho, if you here to listen to gospel,...
Well said.
Tayo, I enjoyed the music and even the style. Talk of your appearance too, it is a homerun anytime. However, featuring OBJ in this video is a big mistake. How does your message relate to Obasanjo as the former president or his ewu. I think it is a misplacement of priority. More so, at 2:30 of the video, while the man was trying to prostrate as we would have expected of our culture, you were trying to hug OBJ. That is not in our culture. The couple should be seen greeting simultaneously in their respective manner....Apart from that, your music is nice and I hope and pray you go places...but shun all these jegudujera leaders if truly you want your elpee to be in the hands of the public
+Adeyemi ThankGod Lacrown Glad someone else saw this. Methinks it takes away from the art.
(Don Antarctica) ? how can you complain to see an ex-president in a gospel music is an ex-president not human or don't them have the same grace has ever one else who have been in a gospel music An I really think if you are really sincere with yourself with the situation of Nigeria also you should be thankful to God for it ,thank you
Thanks for being polite in your comment. That's rare these days. Here's the situation:
1. Having a prominent figure (ex-Pres) in a Gospel music video is just like having any random politician go to church. Most of the awful people in the country are religiously inclined - associating with the Gospel superficially does not indicate that they are accepting its Truth
2. Featuring the ex-president does nothing for the music itself. Some people may want to get the record just because the former pres is in it, but some will avoid it for the same reason. More to the point, methinks the focus should be on the music. However, if the plan is to wow people with celebrity appearances, the artist should recruit pertinent, contemporary interesting stars - or just start a TV show. This type of celebrity is wrong for this type of media.
Just stating facts here, not taking shots at anyone.
Putting an ex-president in the video actually does not help. As a first time listener/viewer, it makes me wonder if the record is any good if it needed such a boost.
+Don Barracuda i dont think its a compulsory thing for you to comment.
opemipo victor It goes both ways brother. You had the liberty to express yourself here and that is why you have done so. If you hate freedom of expression so much, you may want to relocate to North Korea. Think deeply and thoroughly before you respond, because I have a 6th degree black belt in literary combat. Just kidding, but seriously, live and let live.
I concur. I didn't even see your comment and we said the same thing. FT olusegun obasanja, I was waiting for him to sing or back the song up lol
I actually came to the comment section for the bashing ...... I trust Nigerians.... kikikikikiki
