A trio of antique dealers decide whether or not to make offers for people's possessions or allow the owners to take a risk at auction.
Welcome to Dickinson's Real Deal. Dickinson: the flamboyant antique expert helps the public make the most money from their old antiques. Are today's guests about to produce big windfalls or big busts? Find out!
The challenge is how to get the best deal. Contestants meet the dealers who offer cash for an item. The seller must decide whether to accept the guaranteed money or risk fortune or failure in the auction room. Of course, placing one's trust in a positive auction outcome is a gamble in itself! Will they make the right choice?

Dickinsons real deal is brill
If those silver coins were an ounce each of silver the spot price for the lot would have been worth around £666. A bullion coin dealer would have bought the lot for around £650 ish just for the melt value. Am using prices from roughly 13 months ago. I think he was ripped off in my own opinion. If he had gone to Atkinsons or Bullion by Post he would have got a lot more for them.
The first interaction was different
David are you going to make up the loses for the dealers if they lose money
Stockport is no longer in Cheshire Mr. Dickinson as you well know!
£144 commission is a joke!
How are the auction houses expected to run their premises, pay their staff and market the lots? Commission rates are even higher now but the auction houses are always busy, so people appreciate the extra money they can get through selling through an auction where their goods are put in front of a wide audience. The dealer would have made more on it.....
@@bobstirling6885 the have 200/400 auctions a day!!! That's why it's to much... 15% OK... But some houses charge 25%/30%
Its a shame he didn't invest in 2009 commemorative sets or anual Royal mint sets of that year 😕 most coin collectors hope to make a profit on there purchases : I hope my purchases dont make losses we collectors hope we purchase a gem or two
The last minute or so of the programme is missing I think. It suddenly cuts out while the dealers' efforts are being described, then cuts back in jumping to the closing credits. Pity.
You are only missing the daily competition phone in bit. Not really missing anything.
No one is saying that they want to save the money they got
