    I have several reborn dolls-I don't 'play" with them, I collect and display them. To me it is no different than a grown man having a Lionel train set. It is just a fun hobby!

    I am a Reborn Artist and have been for 8+ years. These babies are incredibly time consuming to make however they are also very stress relieving to Create. It is a form of art no different than sculpts or oil paints or sewing. I have 2 beautiful life daughters who are 11 13 and they LOVE the babies as well. I think it is a beautiful art!

    Dolls are for everyone.Women collect dolls all around the world and some woman can't have children or can't afford to have one but want one and I think these are great for that. I have a 3 year old and a reborn and my 3 year old loves it just as much as I do. My husband doesn't want to have anymore babies and the reborn I have helps me feel like I'm holding my baby in my arms so I don't have to worry about having another when I'm holding her.

    I got into reborn babies for pain relief. I have Lupus and other autoimmune diseases. When I hold the realistic reborn baby, it releases endorphines in my brain and really does help with pain, and also helps my mood. I get great joy from changing the reborn and I love role playing doing skits for youtube. Take a look at our channels and I think you will understand that this is a harmless hobby that brings great joy to those involved.

    We don't "play" with reborns. We find maternal comfort in them by dressing them in cute baby outfits and taking them places. I love the amazed reactions I get. I also love the dirty looks I get. I find it funny when someone thinks I'm a teen mom and is so rude about it; their idiocity makes me laugh. We don't have mental problems. It's more a maternal feeling of comfort and it can help those who have lost children. Don't go judging people you know absolutely nothing about.

    • @amylynnhunt55

      It's not a judgement to say I am so sad for so many of the people here.

  • @LBfromtheblock
    @LBfromtheblock Před 10 lety +32

    these dolls should be way more mainstream. Teenagers who want to be mothers, women who can't afford to be mothers yet but feel that ache...sooo many women could benefit from just having a doll as opposed to a real infant who's going to end up suffering for their mother's poor choices. I just bought my first because I'm a young adult who can't even afford to move out yet, but I want a baby almost painfully badly. I bought the doll to relieve the stress I feel and pretend for a little while without jeopardizing the future of a real human being-and my own. Thats not a sign of mental problems...thats a sign of mental acuity. Would you rather I just get pregnant and go on public assistance, that you all pay for? I didn't think so...This is a harmless hobby.

      I've been hearing about these dolls for years. At first I didn't know how to feel about them. I thought they were cute but a little creepy. I have a son who is 7 and I would love to have a daughter. Me and my bf don't plan on having a child for 5-10 years from now. Not being able to have a baby is painful. I love my son to death but I miss the infant stage. By the time I have another child my son will be all grown up. I can see how these can help people cope. It really is just a hobby and just like collecting anything else. They are works of art. No different than a painting or sculpture.

    It's understandable for the women who can't have a baby and can't afford/were turned away by adoption agencies to adopt (it's actually REALLY hard to even quality for being an adoptive parent).There are so many young women out there who really want a baby, and it's sad that they physically can't have one. It's a good idea for those people, or for hard core doll collectors. They should add breathing machines.

    I just received my first reborn, I am 45 years old, and have never had one of my own children, I guess if you aren't a woman you probably wouldn't understand. I kind of brings back the sense of my childhood, and in a way, actually fulfills the maternal joy's that most women get to experience. Its only creepy and morbid if you have no feeling.

  • @szspringman

    I think they are amazing. I would hope they wouldn't be replacements for real relationships, but I can't see what harm it does for people enjoy them for what they are. I would love to see one in person. I don't think I would want to own one personally, but the art form is fascinating and I would love to see them on display somewhere.

  • @porshaspot1068

    How childish to say just have a real baby! If you were a parent you would understand what goes into caring for a real child. That child grows and has to be raised , constantly needing to be cared for and provided for. Theese dolls are collectable art that you can play with or display on a shelf. Dont make people feel bad for doing what they like I bet you wouldn't want to be criticized for the things that you enjoy. Have a good one.

    I don't need help for feeling the emotion of love, even if it is directed toward a doll. I feel so much compassion for these dolls, and saying "You need help." won't disrupt that in the least way. You think that you are so clever for saying something as stupid and immature as me needing help. I already have help, but no way for my love of dolls, but for my traumatic experiences. These dolls help my calm down, and make me feel safe. Don't be a hater just because you don't understand this hobby.

    I am a reborn artist. I enjoy this as a hobby and I know full well that they are dolls, and not real babies. I don't understand why people have to make such a big deal out of it. People collect match boxes or train sets, and I don't see anyone telling them its wrong! If you don't like it then that is fair, you are intitled to your own opinion, but there is no need to vocaise it and hurt others feelings. If some one wants a reborn and it brings them joy then I don't see the problem with it.

    Actually, what piaybackjunkie17 did mention is the part wher a pet lives a few years and then DIES.With these reborns they will never die and they can be passed on to another person if the one who owned it died. So these reborns can live on and on and on.That is the big thing about these reborns,the fact if well took care of they will never die and always look beautiful and never GROW UP.

    • @lornocford6482
      @lornocford6482 Před 4 měsíci

      Anything can be passed on to loved ones after death. Soft toys and fleecy blankets are good cuddle options. Also, the person's clothes made into a cushion. Not everyone is going to want one of those dolls passed on to them, so it can't be thought of as nice without knowing that.
      A person should remember the hugs they got from their loved one.
      The point with pets is that it's an actual relationship and they enjoy being loved and love back.

    I get that these dolls can be therapeutic, and help people cope with loss, etc. It's fascinating, even though I must admit that I find it really weird. But as long as you're aware of the fact that they are objects and don't neglect your relationships with actual living beings in favour of them, I don't see any harm in it. Now, if your house was on fire and you'd save the doll before other family members/pets, yeah, then it's unhealthy.

    And if you want the baby to look more realistic you make hundreds of translucent layers, not just 7 and it takes a lot longer to make, then the rooting, pushing one hair per hole into the scalp, to give the baby realistic hair. These babies are art work, no two artists have the same style, and no two baby dolls are ever alike.

    I see nothing wrong with this!
    I think the next iteration... or "evolution" of this art form should be creating life-like and gentle animatronic reborns... Imagine these dolls moving and wriggling much like a real baby would! Possibly even adding small little audio bits to them too would even more fully immerse the owner into the idea of having a real baby!
    Either way, it's an interesting doll, and the concept is pretty neat!

    You need to work on your sense of empathy then. A lot of women get these to deal with the loss of a baby. It's also great for the elderly who are alone, and I think it's good for teenagers who aren't ready yet to have real babies!

  • @kkloskklos
    @kkloskklos Před 12 lety +1

    Adoption isn't possible for everyone. You have to be of a particular age, marital status, income bracket, etc. And perhaps some who would like a baby wouldn't necessarily want a teenager (which is something that real babies eventually become). While I am inclined to say "adopt a homeless dog, cat, or guinea pig" not everyone lives where a pet is an option. What I am "for", in the end, is "happy people" and it has been shown that even these "fake babies" cause an oxytocin release that is calming.

    You realize that it takes between months to years to adopt a baby, right? You're acting like adopting a baby is like buying a fish. Just go to the store and pick out the one you like and take it home. It's WAY more complicated than that.

      Yes it does & can take yrs to adopt or be approved to adopt. I looked into it in my 20's. And fostering too. Some of us can't do either for many reasons. I know my Bella isn't real. She helps me w/my PTSD.

    Why do we doll makers/collectors get judged so quickly when it is a very common and normal hobby, and other people are collecting different things without getting judged? If its weird to you, then may I ask why you are watching this video?

    they take these babies for reasons for a lost child, a grandparent who wants grandchildren, and other reasons. they have these to remind them of something. like if someone lost a child they could give a reborn doll artist a picture and they'd make them a doll

    people normally get reborn dolls when they cant have baby's of their own! in this case its just a strange hobby but that's up to them! we cant stop them from having that as a hobby!

    I'm a young woman who is very broody. I don't have the money to raise a child, and want to focus on building a home and getting married to my fiance first, rather than pricking holes in condoms and getting the government to support my hormones with a succession of children i can't afford.. I'd rather buy a reborn and cuddle it to allay my hormonal surges until I am ready.

    I am a prototype sculptor in the Toy Industry. What that means, is that I create an original master sculpt that is produced en masse. I am also a professional artist. But, I consider one who does work in this craft as being a craftsman -not an artist, as they are not creating the piece but assembling the pieces. As good as they may be at the painting of these dolls, they are technicians. Re-name the reborn "artist" as a crafter, the word artist should only be reserved for the sculptor.

    @baileyandmicha4lyf We had a doll in high school called "Baby Think It Over". There would be a key attached to our wrist and everytime the baby "cries", we would have to put the key in their back to stop it from crying. We had to carry the doll around with us for a couple of days and even sleep with it. Everytime you neglect the doll, you would get points deducted from your grade.

    @Cloisim First, these aren't a lump of vinyl. They're serious art for serious collectors. Second, these women don't need psychiatric help, they just love babies and want to have that amazing feeling all the time. It's not creepy to me, it's gorgeous. But that's just my opinion. I don't really care what you THINK, but I know along with every other reborn collector that you're very wrong and it's sad you feel that way. I'm getting my baby girl next week.

    Yeah, that's what I said: "what's creepy is what some people do with these dolls..."
    The art form seems pretty legit though. In the same way wax statues can be intriguing and whatnot.

    Since everyone is saying why buy these instead of having a real baby, here's something for you. Why buy toy cars when you can get real ones? Why play video war games when you can go out and brutally murder real people!? Why collect toy trains when you can go and see real ones?
