The dogs in 101 Dalmatians don't talk
Alice stumbles into wonderland rather than dream about it
Msmojo, can you do a Top 10 Soos moments from Gravity falls
The most shocking thing for me was how in the _Lion King_ remake, all the songs were more or less the same, except for _Be Prepared._ It's less than half as long, it's got none of the original lyrics, and it's not even a song anymore! It's just Scar speak singing with the hyenas chanting. I will never forgive Disney for completely butchering one of the greatest villain songs of all time.
Same
Worst part of the movie. On top of everything else.
I'm pretty sure they just put it in last minute when people asked about it.
Ugh I hated that part of the movie like they decided to keep none of the original lyrics
The entire movie was just awful. They ruined my favorite Disney movie.
Not having Shang in the Mulan remake was bad, but not having Mushu was unforgivable
I 'm not sure. Probably Mushu would have looked really creepy in the 'realistic' style. By the way, I prefer the animated Mulan over the life-action remake any day.
I will never forgive Disney for butchering Mulan
Same. They tried so hard to please China but the only people they pleased was the Chinese govt. 😶
Same
Except they didn't butcher it, they told the story closer to the actual legend.
@@Akaisha24 I get that, but we wanted a remake of the original movie. Mushu, the music, the character development etc. They shouldn’t have advertised it as a remake. It wasn’t even close.
Wait until you see live action Snow White. It’s already getting backlash while it’s in production. Besides the film looking really cheap, they already butchered the story by changing it way too much. Biggest crime is them removing the 7 dwarfs.
Mulan 1998: An ordinary girl who gets by on inner strength and determination, disproving those who doubted her.
Mulan 2020: A Mary Sue who can't fail at anything, and has random superpowers.
Absolutely nailed and spot-on. 👍👍👏👏👏👏
I never saw the remake and don’t plan to. The original animated film is enough for me
@@Omar-wq9dzDon't watch it. The original is great but the remake is probably the worst movie I've ever seen imo
Yeah, because even they cut the scene when Mulan climbs the column, the test that nobody could, and that part was the most inspiring for me, besides the scene when Mulan epically cuts her hair
@@BG-be8di What? That scene and the one where she cuts her hair and leaves are like the most iconic scenes in the whole movie, followed by her escape from the palace roof! And they took those out? Now I'm definitely glad I didn't waste my time watching it. Time to find the 1998 Mulan DVD, brb.
Maleficent’s backstory was done very well. I never thought I’d sympathise with a villain either!
Same! I loved Maleficent!
yes because we can definitely understand why she became that way, when she got her heart broken
It’s devastating when she loses her wings.
@@sheilaholmes996 Yes! Her reaction was so heartbreaking. Screaming and crying like that. It made me physically hurt
It's funny that many people think that Ariel just left the sea for a man. Her song literally says how much she wants to go to the human world, the live action improved nothing
I never like remix, the live action of 101 Dalmatian was good, but it feel like something was missing
But the remake was much better than the original. From how she emphasised her love for adventure to how she told Prince Eric her name. Hey! Ariel and Eric didn't get married in the remake. They went on adventures...that's got to be enough proof for ya man
@@manuellanampeera3048 It's mediocre at best, the best Disney live action remakes are Maleficent, Jungle Book, Christopher Robin and Cruella
Cruella certainly took the Trolls meme of "Singing killed my Grandma" to heart with "Dalmatians killed my Mother!"
Not including Mushu is where I draw the line of watching a Live Action Disney Movie !!!
yeah, they took away him and it hurt me
@@BG-be8di they made it personal😤
even the Chinese were insulted, and ironically they didn't like Mushu at first
I'm not crazy about live action Disney remakes, but I actually liked "Maleficent" and its sequel.
Same!
Same
Peter Pan was mostly kind of a Bratty smartass and a trouble maker rather than a villain. In the show “Once Upon a Time” he was portrayed as a psychopath!
My Number 1 would be: these remakes exist... nobody asked for them at all.. Disney's gotten lazy with the movies that made them the household name that they are
Thank you. If anything, if they wanted live action, they could have just done a pro-shot of the Broadway adaptations of Disney films.
I like the Maleficent movie, because you get to see her story more
Her backstory was made up especially for this life-action remake. It's a trend at Disney to make villains more sympathetic by making up a sad backstories for them, meanwhile making former heroes or innocent characters into villains, like king Stephan.
Had absolutely no desire to see the Milan remake, especially once they said it wasn’t going to be a musical and omitted Mushu.
See, the whole Gaston thing made sense to me. One, he was used to getting what he wanted, and snapped when he realized that Maurice was an obstacle to marrying Belle. Leaving Maurice there to be exposed to the elements meant said obstacle would be removed. Two, Maurice had seen Gaston lose his temper (again, another obstacle to marrying Belle if she had found out how he had treated her father), and leaving him out there would mean that Gaston could save face in front of the village and especially Belle.
This version of Gaston was also in a war in his past and it's indicated he is unstable as a result.
I love how he was more trying to relive his glory days rather than just being a bully. This was truly an adult move and it makes more sense for the time.
No iconic dresses in the Little Mermaid especially the sparkly one.
WE WERE ROBBED
It takes place in the Caribbean in the movie in the cartoon it place somewhere else what they wore has to correspond with where it took place at. I totally enjoyed the movie. The thing that brother me was her hair wish it could have been more red
@@devilwoman02No. It takes place in the Mediterranean in the cartoon.
I know that but in the live action it takes place in the carribban sorry I didn’t write it out right
@@devilwoman02 it’s A FANTASY MOVIE about A MERMAID. there is no such excuse
I’ve noticed a while ago that it’s hard to tell what’ll please audiences with the reimagined Disney films. One film tries to do something different and it gets a horrible reception. Another tries to stay true to the OG animated version and gets the same reception. I know these types of films have their bad and mixed takes, and understandably so, but it’s pretty hard to please everyone these days.
i agree sometimes it's better to try something new and not follow the original formula.
I agree as well. However, the problem isn’t actually how people feel about them it’s usually how people involved reacts. For example, let’s say I’m a director for a live action Disney remake of the princess and the frog and I cast a white person to portray Tiana to make it more align with the story and I do it by respecting the fans and understanding the criticism but I will never disrespect the fans. However, let’s say friend Mal does the same thing but disrespects the fans, the story, and the people involved. Which one is better preferred for people who are fans the ones that respects and let’s fans choose if they like it or not or the one that disrespects everything and doesn’t let fans choose the choice to feel which results in anger and disappointment for both the fans and the people involved. What Disney choose was the Mal technique and that’s why it’s pretty much undesirable. If they really want to make that story focus on the new story and respect the people who could be fans of that new story, but if it’s a story that’s already told respect the story, the built fandom, and don’t change it to be unrecognizable or to follow a new version of the story.
@@justinfriedrich5741 All the changes were horrible!!
Well, there's this Pinocchio movie on Netflix and lots of people liked it, I did too
the live actions were only to deepen some things that the original didn't do, and sometimes it's okay when they want to make some change or add, as long as the essence and purpose of the film is preserved..
See I disagree I mean he’s no Robin Williams but Will Smith did good job playing The Genie in Aladdin!
I loved that they gave Jasmine her own song on the live action movie of Aladdin
Taking out the Mulan transformation scene in the live action was nothing short of criminal.
The whole 2020 remake is just criminal
@@astheniceel13 true but that was especially criminal.
You have a movie that’s supposed to be about women empowerment……and you take out the most badass empowering scene from the original?
What?!?!?
@@jessedellross3245 ikr. And they basically tell you that chi is just "some special disability that you have to be born with". Just watch Kung Fu Panda 3, a movie that focuses on chi correctly. Granted it's the weakest of the already incredible trilogy, but it explains chi better than this steaming pile of hot garbage.
Do you refer when Mulan cut her hair epically? Well yes, I missed that a lot.. For me as a child it was a sacrifice for Mulan to cut her hair, because she had to do it to go unnoticed as a man easily and also she would never be able to comb it
@@BG-be8di yep. The kickass music. The transformation so powerful even her horse didn’t recognize her at first. Fantastic moment and storytelling.
Live action version……..nothing
That deleted scene from the animated Lion King was about Scar wanting Nala as his queen, not Sarabi
Even worse
@@LucyAdroit 100% agree on that!
The most shocking is that they actually MADE Live Action remakes!! 😂😂😂
Given TLK is based on Hamlet, number 5 isn't THAT shocking as it basically sets up a theme that Hamlet itself is known for.
The Uncle marrying the Mother.
Well believe it or not but the Lion King is more like Henry IV with the prince learning the importance of being a king while the only thing from Hamlet is the uncle killing his brother for the crown.
It's more shocking that these remakes are getting so much attention and praise when the original animated films are 10 times better
When Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, I bet Disney was SOOO embarrassed from their live action remake.🏆🤣👎🏼
Beauty and the beast remake, which was released on my birthday, was underwhelming especially for a disney classic that didn't need a remake.
That statement of yours is a total blatant full of lies and misinformation, you fool.
The 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast was not underwhelming, for that movie had a good amount of positive reviews and its positive score proves that (something that you fail to see those ratings of that movie):
RT:
Critics - 71% (Fresh)
Audiences - 80%
Metacritic:
65% ("Generally Favorable")
#1: "I'll Make a Man Out of You" was never sung
One of the best Disney songs of all time.
Nothing was sung
The most shocking thing about Pinnochio's remake, was taking out the cautionary and morality the story is meant to instill in its viewing audience.
But Scar is seducing Nala in the animated early version, not Sarabi
That were shocking changes.. That's why is that both verssions are different and unic: the animated versions had the magic, while the remakes developed somethings that the original movie didn't do: I missed that color of the animated versions and the noticiable of the expressions of the animals, but the changes in the songs weren't so bad.. In Aladdin, I was amazed that the Genie became human when he obtained his freedom, and that he also fell in love with Dalia, and decided to travel the world with her; also the very sad Tramp's backstory, that he was abandoned by his owners when they had their baby and from there he thinks that "when the baby comes in, the dog leaves"; the thing of "not having songs" to the live action of Cinderella and Maleficent was fine, except for Mulan (which I did not like that they took away the inspiring of the effort that Mulan had to overcome until she became a great warrior); when Gaston hit Maurice and then he was going to let him die in the forest, he did show his true monstrosity and evil and it hurt me more when the town stayed on his side and didn't believe Maurice, and I liked that they gave backstory to Maleficent and the Evil Stepmother, so that we can understand them and that they were not evil because yes..
I walked out of the live action lion king. It was HORRIBLE
I liked it 🤷🏻♀️. I mean, in comparison, obviously the animated is 1000000 times better. But I still enjoyed it.
I miss the sparkly dress at the end of the remake as well
This is why these live action remakes have to come to an end
Some of the movies , like Mulan , do hint at the lyrics , but they don't sing .
So many horrible choices were made in the live action Mulan
Is it the whole existence of Mulan live action is a mistake itself??
@@createyoutubeaccount3347I haven't watched it but probably yes.
Please do Top 10 Underrated Disney Heroines in Sequels!
You think you can rank all Disney live action remakes with the new little mermaid remake and what you suggest to watch?
Jasmine getting a solo.
You haven't seen anything yet, wait 'til they release the upcoming "Snow White".......
Peter pan the mind of a 50 year old in a child's body that's the real take I've always had on him
I honestly liked Jungle Book
Me too!
I wish "The Black Cauldron" could be remade into a fleshed out Live-Action film (as well as "Treasure Planet")
Yes. While I don’t mind the classics as remakes (takes a lot for me to hate, be bored with a movie), I would love to see movies that didn’t do well at the box office get the remake treatment. The classics are classics for a reason. But the ones that bombed at the box office, like Treasure Planet, Black Cauldron, Atlantis, etc. I would like to see if they get a better reception. Give a movie that didn’t do well a second chance in live action form. Maybe they didn’t do well because they were ahead of their time. Maybe now they would be better today.
Taking the songs out of Mulan took the soul out of the movie 😔😩
Well… that is really unexpected!
NUmber 1 is understandable,
BUT THEYRE ANIMALS. THEY DONT HAVE FACE EXPRESSIONS
Thats why Animation Exist
I like how we got to know more about maleficent backstory
This top made dig down the pros and cons of Disney live action movies. Si, thanks Ms Mojo and have a happy saturday afternoon as well. Take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia.
I saw a skeleton of a 🧜🏽♀️ or 🧜♂️ in the live-action of The Little 🧜🏽♀️ and it freaked me out! Not as much as when I heard Ursula kills merpeople! I mean, did anyone else see those 💀?!
Live Adaptions can nvr Capture The Magic of Animation anyway
I found this online article to Maleficent after it came out. The movie has elements to rape in it. Drugged and violated, which real victims have related to, so the film takes on *massive* serious issues in an alternant approach that u would never thought Disney would think of. With Genie falling in love, I'm cool with that; just not that he became human and lost his magic. Whereas in the og and sequels (films and series) he was still magical but no longer bound to a master. As for Mulan, I liked it, along with the phoenix that gave silent encouragements. I even found this article that some people in China didn't like Mushu, really.
The only live action movies I've seen on this list at the moment are, maleficent, beauty and the beast, Lion King and Cinderella, there's been a lot of redo's of Peter Pan movies I'll eventually watch the rest of them, I'll eventually also watch the other live action movies on this list like Mulan and Little mermaid not sure when though.
to make a Good Live Action Disney Movie, make it Colourful, Musical, and Cartoonist, just gave more and a Little Deep Dive to it's Character without Ruining their Original Version and maybe it's Okay to make Actual Animated Animal Characters like in Who Frame Roger Rabbit, that's Okay Enough Right.
11:46, He actually did, just in a show
Peter Pan wasn’t a saint in the original movie, but having him as the main-ish villain doesn’t entirely fix a soulless remake
Honestly, some of the changes aren’t that bad. I prefer to give these remakes a chance before giving my full judgement.
LIVE ACTION REMAKES TRY TO CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF THE ANIMATIONS... BUT THE LATTER WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE...
And most of them failed
I don't know about shocking but one change that annoyed me is Iago being turned into a generic parrot. Gilbert Gottfried also mentioned that he hadn't been invited to reprise his role.
The constant race-swapping of various characters. Don't get me wrong, diversity is important but the problem with race-swapping is that it's the same story with a different ethnicity. Why not tell original stories?
Agree
Yeah by race swapping a character it's essentially making a second handed character which is often not a good thing.
In My Opinion, the Animated Versions are better. However, I like the 1996 Live Action Version of 101 Dalmatians more than the Animated Version from 1961
9:20 And they say Maleficent is the Mistress of Evil
Another shocking change: Making such great classics suck so much.
Am I the only one who think Guillermo del Torro’s Pinocchio (the character) sounds kind of like Ron Weasley?
Only 100 live action movies to go before Disney ends this ridiculous animated-to-live-action nostalgia cash grab. . . they haven't all been terrible, though.
Speak for yourself.
Nothing is going to beat the changes that will appear in dnow white🤮
They need to stop ruining the movies or just stop all together making them.
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit* the live action malun doesn't have the sings that makes the animationed one have. It doesn't hold a place in MY heart for it. But, BUT, the live action aladdin is my favorite after the amazing animated movie.
Its so awful, like in the comments section, the people are only complainig, noone is complimenting Cruella or Maleficent or even Lion king for being less problematic
Or the more emotionally developed Cindy & it having a better ending for her forgiving her stepmom showing her goodness furtherly , and having a better development of the storyline making her father's death much more related to the topic & backing the story more emotionally, & providing more to the starting & her sisters calling her " Cinderella" to show their evilness , & more character development of Charming
Or A better treatment of Genie in Alladin
Or even the beauty and the beast to show the Gaston more evil rather being a crackhead maniac, or the more independent Belle , or The more inclusive Ariel
Just everyone's thinks that , they should do the remake same as the original
If you are so nostalgic, go watch the old ones, they still are there
And yeah congratulating them to finally experiment more to get out of their musical era
Peter pan being the actual jerk he is
The Lion Kings problem was that they changed absolutely nothing
Msmojo, can you make a Top 10 Soos moments in Gravity Falls list.
Or Wendy moments
Originally, Peter Pan WAS the bad guy.
James Hook was the captain of a ship sent by the Crown to capture the criminal who was kidnapping orphaned children.
The way it was portrayed in Once Upon a Time is actually the closest we see on screen to the real story.
If anything, I needed MORE music for Mulan. We need it on Broadway, stat!
Sympathy for the Villains?
I’ve that Tramp has a backstory in the remake of Lady and the Tramp in the animated movie it’s not revealed why Tramp is a street dog so I love that in the remake they reveal why he lives on the streets
Will Smith, I LOVE YOU PLEASE COME BACK!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Shang doesnt seem to appear as a queer icon to me. Because his and Pings (Mulans alias) relationship is centered around comradery. Man best friends if you will.
Exactly my thoughts. It wasn't until after he knew she was a woman that he fell for her
I wish they made from the mulan remake a musical😭
Can not wait for the Snow White not Snow White remake.
not all these changes are nessacarily bad
Says you.
Peter Pan
Pinocchio
Beauty and the Beast
Those were the worst live action
Don't forget Dumbo, The Lion King, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid.
Beauty and the Beast (2017) wasn’t bad compared to the live action remakes of Pinocchio and Peter Pan.
@@frankiegalindo980 Beauty and the Beast and Pinocchio were both bad because of one person: Luke Evans.
@@seankent9057 Wrong!
@@frankiegalindo980 Oh really and why is that?😒
Disney live action remakes should probably all go straight to Disney+
Very very great epic list I like it a lot very very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever i like all the live action Disney remakes movies they are some of the very best movies ever 😊❤
Mulan has always been my favourite Disney movie and I was so excited for the remake! Safe to say my heart shattered after watching it.
Overall, live adaptation changes are more on "realistic and "modernized" approach.
most are not really a remake but a another way of telling the story i find. and if you see them not as a remake some are pretty good.
I still prefer My Tinkerbell Blonde and White.
Not being a Racist here, just My own Preference.
The same goes for the redheaded characters.
👍
Ever had to pick one maleficent
I thought pter pan was villian anyway i like aladdin virson o dont care it has will smith
I like it it was fun and jafer was hot
Disney remakes are not perfect but they r still entertaining to watch. Especially the mediocre mulan
Peter pan being the bad guy is from the book I am happy that was in the movie cuz he is the villian anyways
I was never a fan of the Maleficent movie. Sure she had a tragic backstory, but I didn't like the way they made her good and Aurora's father evil. I kinda liked the fight scenes in the Mulan remake, but the animated one is more memorable. The only remakes I really liked were Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.
What shocked me in Malificent (2014). King Stefan was evil!
On a good note, it seems Disney did it right once as no one seems to ever mention the live action remake of 101 Dalmatians with Glen Close. ❤️
i think Shang is great
Disney should not have live action remakes of there animated films.
Not everyone can stand musicals
I watched PETER PAN & WENDY because of David Lowery and Bojan Bazelli
And they kinda did a good job
all the more reason why I give these live action remakes very poor scores.
You forgot the addition of the black plague in beauty and the beast which is pretty dark for a children's movie
Also. In little mermaid. They gave Eric more dimention
"Peter is (kinda) the bad guy" ?? He IS the bad guy
“They made be anatomically accurate”
Not true if I remember correctly none of the male lions in the remake of The Lion King have a certain body part 🍆
Many of you will hate me for this, but I think Mulan is the best reimagining to date. Whilst I don't agree with the reason, I like the change of Li Shang to Commander Tung and Chen Honghui because it just makes sense to have a Commander who teaches from experience. I also think that the change of Mushu the dragon to a non speaking Pheonix made more sense culturally
How about how they totally changed the "Still I think he's rather tasty" scene in Aladdin? Like, it's not even funny in the remake.
