There is a fort built by Rana Amar singh , who was the ruler of this region. The city was named afte him as Amarkot. The name must have been changed after it was taken over by a local ruler of Sindh Umer Soomro. There is a shiv mandir too. This city is the birthplace of Mughal Emperor Akbar too.

There are thousands of places in Pakistan which have Hindu Names. There are cities we have a nearby village naming Ram kali. There is Hari Pur dist in Pak. Karishna Nagar. Toba Tek Singh. Every city has areas and mohallas with Hindu names.

Our family is of Soda Rajpus from Amarkot, shifted to present India Punjab and Himachal pradesh in India around 200 years back. Here in India we are known by Sood cast and our 40 families who migrated to India are very well off and prosperous.
