Well you must know that Vidhan Sabha elections and Lok Sabha elections are quite different. You are talking about 18/42 on BJP's behalf forgetting the 22 seats of TMC. And a few days later when by-elections were held BJP could not even stand against the TMC candidates even in it's strongholds.
