    Valuable information right there. I am doing the house extension in Tshwane. Do i need to enrol the extension with NHBRC? I am getting conflicting information from builders. The plan is already approved by the metro.

      YES. Get an NHBRC registered builder & apply register. You'll need a draughtsman to draw an extension plan

    Why did you want to be exempt from inspection?

    Great Content 👍 Just a question,why don't you register your house with the NHBRC seeing that u wrote the exam and registered with them?

      Hi, I'm not registered with the NHBRC. The test I wrote was for the owner builder exemption but I found out afterwards that it's the same test written by those applying to register as professional builders.
      Maybe you might ask me why not just register as a professional builder since it's the same test and take it from there:
      Firstly, there's an enrolment fee for the house which I don't think I would have wanted to pay;
      Secondly, now that I have sort of built a house, I would have realised that registering as a professional builder and working in the home building industry is a bad idea. There are too many mental health issues.
      With that said, there is a High Court case that says NHBRC shouldn't require a technical test for owner builder exemption application. If you think about it, it's like a court saying you have to first pass the bar exam before you can represent yourself in court.

      @@diybuilderza Came across your content by chance, however I'm glad I did as I'm about to embark on a similar journey. Very inspiring bro, well done!!
      One question though, where did you source your builders, the last thing I want is sourcing incorrectly and regretting halfway through the project....
