I live in central CA and it gets really hot here. I keep my inventory in the garage and it's fine. Also, I don't have shelves. My totes are very sturdy, clear ones. They were about $8 each at Walmart. I stack them 4 high without structural problems from the weight of them being on top of one another. I feel like I can get more use of my space not using shelves. Congrats on the new home!
Yes, you can keep inventory on the garage if it´s only clothes and shoes. Obviously not things like make-up or food. I live in Ohio and I have all inventory in garage inside plastic bins and there´s no problem, no matter how hot is in summer or how cold is in winter ;)
