- Here are 5 things I wish I knew about Washington State University as an out of state student. Part two of this video with 5 more things I wish I knew will be out shortly. Thanks for watching, and go cougs!
Time Stamps:
0:00-0:43 WSU is not a commuter school, but people go home often
0:43-1:38 Social culture is different
1:38-2:49 WSU is a huge school, but you aren’t just a number
2:49-4:15 Cost of living
4:15-8:43 Small town culture shock
8:43-9:03 Outro
I was a Wazzu from 2021-2023, I was there when I heard the Idaho murders happened nearby in the next city over. Honestly besides that event, my experience there was relatively safe I'd say. It really helps to have a good group of friends where you can keep tabs on one another and have each others backs.
Yes, it happened in Moscow. Unfortunately the sole suspect lived in Pullman and was still on campus for weeks following the murders. Couldn’t agree more on having a solid friend group that keeps tabs on one another!
omg this video was so amazing. I got accepted to WSU and debating on making the change from San Diego to Pullman.
San Diego is a beautiful area. Pullman is definitely going to be a big culture shock!
Congrats on your acceptance!
Washington State University takes student tuition and then hangs up on them. They have required courses which are not relevant to a student's area of study which are run by religious fanatics who label some of their students as "spiritually damaged." This school is terrible. I called the dean of students office and the person I spoke there hung up her phone on me claiming that she had addressed my concerns and she had not. The school then refused to communicate with me at all. They label some of their students as having "deformed psyches" I asked for the "peer reviewed literature" they claim it's based on and they refused to provide it. This school got thousands of dollars in tuition money from me and now they will not even respond to my emails and they try to forward me to their risk management office. This school is dishonest they don't even try to help students.
WSU is the best
@@emmalouie1663Is it a must course that you mean run by religiouse field?
Great video! My son is considering and we will be out of state. Do you fly into SeaTac or elsewhere? How do you get from the airport to campus?
Thank you, Deanna! I use the Wheatland Express (it’s a shuttle bus) that takes me to and from the Spokane Airport. It picks you up at a couple places on campus and is very reliable.
Sophia, as I also have an out of state interest in WSU, being from Utica, NY, is their online program good? You see, I’ve been looking at a few schools for that.
I can't speak much about their online program. I've taken some classes through WSU Global and enjoyed my limited experience. I suggest speaking to an admissions counselor!
i’m from the Southwest Florida area, but i recently applied to WSU and i just got my admissions letter on october 3 (which was eight days ago)!! i haven’t confirmed my enrollment yet because i’m waiting to see what the other colleges i’ve applied to say first. originally i was planning to go to UChicago, but ever since the WSU letter came back so much sooner than i expected, i’m narrowing down on WSU instead :)
That’s so exciting. Congratulations!
@@sophiajuliet.thank you!
You won't regret attending WSU and becoming a Coug!
I’m applying right now and I’m so scared! I’m from southern Idaho :))
@@xitlaliortiz8028 Best wishes on the application process!
hi, i'm from the bay area in cali and wsu is my top choice atm, so this video was extremely helpful! tysm for doing this! : )
also, I have two questions:
1. when renting an off-campus apartment, how did you find one/ what websites did you use?
^ the thing is, if I do go to wsu (which is a 99% chance), i'll be attending the vancouver campus and they dont have dorms lol. my parents won't be paying for my college or anything at all, but paying $750/ month with a roommate seems manageable.
2. how easy is it to find a job?
HI Luci, all great questions. I am at the Pullman campus and have not spend substantial time in other parts of the state so my experience is limited to WSU Pullman. I did not use a website to find my current apartment as everyone is already aware major apartment complexes here. As for finding a job (at WSU Pullman) it is very easy to work on campus. Prior experience is not necessary for many student positions. I currently work multiple jobs on campus and love it. Many students apply over the summertime to ensure a job by their first day of school.
@@sophiajuliet. hii! omg that was so informative, lol! thank you so much for answering my questions! i hope you have a wonderful day
@@lucicho5908 You’re very welcome. Have a lovely day as well!

Hello, I am doing a research about WSU and I saw this video of yours. I am interested on applying in this University but i am having a trouble coz they are requiring to apply as a resident something in their website. Anyways I am from Philippines. And I tried sending them message in the email but they could not answer my quiry so I am hoping if you have any ideas about it , i would be very glad. Thank you!
Hi! Based on what you said it sounds like you'd apply as an international student. Try Googling "WSU International Student Services" and look for any emails there. I did a quick online search and found this. I would start here: admission.wsu.edu/apply/international-students/
nice video
Hi I have a question!! I recently got into Washington State University but in Vancouver and I want to change my campus to Pullman. They are telling me that I might not get into that campus and that they need to look over my application to determine if I can get in. What are the chances of me being able to switch from Vancouver to Pullman? Also the major I chose was Animal sciences pre-vet.
Hi, congratulations on your acceptance! That's something you'd have to speak to admissions about. The WSU Pullman application was very easy to fill out when I applied in 2019 and currently, the acceptance rate is about 83%. I hope it all works out for you!
@@sophiajuliet. Yes I got into Pullman with the major I wanted thank you for the advice !!!
Also, how was out of state tuition? Is it a lot or manageable?
I saw your other comment when you said you are from San Diego. You should be getting the WUE automatic scholarship. With WUE the tuition is not terrible. The lower cost of living is major bonus points and helps a LOT.

Hi .. I just received my confirmation letter ... I live in new york .. so I am out-of-state ... can you pls give me information regarding all cost .. like tuition .. scholarship.. and dorm ... I would love some tips also
That's so exciting, congratulations! I recommend you reach out to WSU administration for questions regarding the cost of attendance and scholarships. As for dorms, prices vary depending on the building and floor plan type. You can find that information on WSU Housing's website. I have older videos about my channel that loosely touch on those topics you've described, including an old dorm tour for Stephenson, which was my dorm. Best of luck!
Can you tell me about 1 year electrical and computer engineering fees in USD ❤️ for bachelors
Hi! Tuition depends on residency (eg. Washington resident, international student, out of state.) I suggest you reach out to an admissions counselor and factor in any automatic scholarships dependent on GPA.
@@sophiajuliet. Yes i am Indian
I apply wsu . i want to know about usw more so how can ask you more? Can i be friends on social media? Please reply
Congratulations on applying! You can ask me more in the comments here.
Thank you. I book my visa interwview date as soon as date available. So tell me about why wsu for international student?
Every state university is filled with students from that state
*Watching the Watchers* sent me.
Ditto
There are 86 other people in my town. The school i go to has a population of around 200 students
So no i can't relate😂
Is it liberal or conservative?
Definitely left leaning, although I imagine that’s how most if not all major universities on the West Coast are.
Washington State University has a communist-marxian political cult which the staff adhere to and they force it on students as well. I thought I was going to get a non-political neutral education that was centered on students gaining skills but it's really more focused on the money-grubbing instructors. It's not a serious school, it's for sports and football teams if that is what you are into.
@@emmalouie1663 big suprise their lol
It’s in a conservative area but as a college it’s liberal
My gf & I are also new to the area, we're from Michigan. hmu if yall new as well, we can help.
@davidv.388 hey, I’m moving to Everett, WA in May. I followed you Ig.
@@lateqamack5373 hey, I just saw this. Lmk, if yo uahve any questions.
Beautiful woman ❤️
Is it safe?
I feel very safe when on campus but not so much off. I’ve been made aware of some stalking/voyeurism incidents that are close to campus that I mentioned in this video series. Check police logs if you consider coming.
VERY
@@sophiajuliet.how can you possibly say you feel unsafe off campus? I lived in Pullman for years while going to WSU and it’s one of the safest places in the country
Pullman is very safe, I don't care what she THINKS she know, as an alum and married to an alum, Pullman is very safe. Comparing it to LA is insane, and shows her lack of understanding of all things Pullman AND LA. I would never allow my children to attend any school in Southern California, but know Pullman is very safe.
That's great that you feel safe in Pullman, Trisha! Unfortunately, having my TA be arrested for a quadruple homicide 15 mins away made me feel otherwise.
@@sophiajuliet.omg what! i’m applying for wsu:(
Its safe BUT there is weird crime. Live with it!
It's not that deep

This school is dishonest they don't even try to help students. I hated everything about my experience with Washington State University. WSU also spends a lot of money on marketing so they make it look good but it's very much different from how they market the programs. I thought I was in a professional program but it was mostly Islamic instructors saying how much they hate America and Americans so if that is what you want to spend your money on go for it.
i’m howling what the hell are you talking about 😭 to anyone wanting to go to WSU, this is absolutely not how it is- or at least wasn’t my experience. i’m going here this fall and although there are gen ed credits you need to fulfill, it heavily depends on your major. haven’t had any kind of conversions regarding faith or belief systems either.
