- Here's a video showing my new (to me) 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T! It has 350 horsepower, the 5.7L V8 Hemi engine, and is limited edition #165/200 in TorRed color (Canada edition). Congrats on your new 1st gen modern Charger, you will love the 5.7 power, so good! I love my 5.7 Challenger R/T & Ram, I prefer the sound of the 5.7 over the 6.4 with Flowmaster's! Like yourself I prefer the body style & factory graphics of the 1st gen Chargers & would love to have one myself.

Its actually a gen III. Nothing has really changed since these engines came out but the tranny and cooling. Dodge got 20hp more by a simple tune but it's still the same engine.
@@jlrockafella also vvt and a few other things with it being the eagle hemi so not just a tune. Where did you get your information
PowWowChicken They revised the heads, intake manifold and added VVT. Not huge changes in the peak numbers but real world it made a good bit of difference. Plus, most parts between the two are not interchangeable.

Definitely want to do something with the Diablo just have to figure out how to do it and what to film haha

Congratulations again on your new purchase of an Absolute RARE 2006 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona Edition! If I were you, I would definitely keep the Daytona tucked in during the winter months and daily drive the V6! You don't get another one of those Daytona Editions anymore! Only a limited few in Canada! I would for sure take car of it!

Hell yeah bro! Daytonas are awesome. You can mod them greatly! I have long tubes on one and short tubes on the other!
Which one you like better, long or short tubes?
@@MarspeedCars Uhh they both have their qualities but long tubes are my fav. But they are loud and drone on the highway which I like. Short they say are better for take off and they are a bit quieter, more daily driver. Those long tubes on the highway though you punch it at 80mph you start flying all over again.
@@MarspeedCars Also I always heard Daytonas start at 360HP as having a factory Daytona tune. I have Diablo tuners for both mine just for the fun.

I think the V6 doesn’t look as good with decals, but the decals suit the R/t, especially the Daytona, that’s one of the main additions of the Daytona package.

I have a 2006 dodge charger rt and on the ownership it says its a daytona it does however have a similair paint job but mine is white with black decals an no spoiler. I love your car bro its a beauty!! MOPAR ALL THE WAY!!! London ontario canada...

Congrats on the Daytona! I know how you’re loving it. I had a ‘06 R/T with Road and Track Pkg. that I ordered from the factory. As you pointed out it had the same HP(350), same suspension with the load leveling rear shocks, same wheels with black painted pockets,same seats, radio upgrade, exhaust ( larger tips were polished) yours looked smaller and not polished, is your exhaust aftermarket? I didn’t want all the Decals and such but wanted what the Daytona had. I changed the grill insert to the honeycombed one so I could put the R/T badge on it like the Daytona and in 2007 Dodge did the same for the Road & Track models.🤷🏻♂️ The only other thing I did was I added a K&N air filter shortly after I got it so I wouldn’t have to change it again. I kept it till 2016 and traded it with only 52,000 mi. on it. I think about it a lot and kinda wish I had kept it, but I knew the longer I kept it the less I would get for it. Love it!!! Keep them both. The Daytona in Canada is a rare car. Don't do too much to take away from the visuals of the Daytona. Leave it looking stock and get a Diablo Tuner. It's a relatively easy way to get the most out of the Hemi in stock form. Looking forward to your next mods.

How’s the gas mileage different between the both in your experience? Way better gas in the v6 ? Or not that far behind are they neck in neck between mpg ?
@@mikexcanxjerk mpg in both is about the same. You can definitely go further in the v6. I'm averaging now in the v8 18.4 just cruising, not hard. On the weekends it's much lower.
Tim B. Hmmmm so are you saying the v6 ain’t worth it at all except for cheaper insurance , SLIGHTLY better gas mileage huh . The v8 does have M.D.S. 4 cyl , do I could smash it but let off the gas that switches to that mode also , I need to rent one lol for a week to make my answer lol
@@mikexcanxjerk insurance was a few dollars more on the rt but the v6 is fine. Just saying the v6 you can go further on a full tank than the rt. It was about 2 to 3 mpg difference in the 6 and 8. I just found the car I dream about. It matters on what you want and do with it.

Nice car bro! I have an 06' R/T with the Road and Track package. We have basically the same car now but yours is numbered. I've owned mine for 25k miles and it currently sits at 150k miles. It purs like a cat. The 5.7L is a great engine and i'm sure yours has a crazy lifespan ahead of it!

@Marspeed Nice collection you went the same way I did for the Mopars but instead of the Charger it was 300’s I had an ‘08 300 V6 but eventually grabbed the ‘07 V8 SRT Design same motor setup frm the factory as your Daytona +10 more HP frm the factory, no govt limiter, SRT leather seats, HIDs, MDS, SRT exhaust plus toppin out at 155 before I tuned it. You should do a Chrysler SRT Design video! Congrats on the new Daytona❗️
This video just made me want to buy a 2012 Chrysler 300 srt8 with around 45,657 miles (73,477) kilometers on it its a local trade in at my Jeep dealership I discovered it while my grand cherrokee was getting serviced it was a trade in. I heard a conversation between the man who sold me my Jeep and his boss about that 300 and they were arguing about getting it moved off of the lot in a certain deadline my salesman offered the car i made him an offer which he refused so I told him call me when you’re ready to accept that offer that was last summer so he called me yesterday saying that he accepts my offer i was kind of iffy about buying it but then my friend said go ahead. anyways, congrats on your new charger. My dealership was asking $20k i offered them $18k then $17k then went down to $15k.
Keep the V6 to do whatever in. Make the V8 the absolute best show looking car you can do tastefully. Then get only V8 versions of a 2014 (SRT preferably) and a Scatpack/Daytona or Hellcat of a 2018. You would have a great collection of Mopar.
You should take off all the chrome badges on the trunk and put the r/t badge where the ram badge is!
I have that same exact car, I’ve owned it for 2 years now and I’ve only drove it 200 miles... make sure you get new heads put into it. I had 135K miles on mine and it dropped a valve seat

I have an '07 plum Daytona. Surprised they are Not worth much. Great car!! Great trunk space. I fit a stroller and bike inside. But you need to keep on top of suspension, brakes, coolant system. And people wanting to race. A gti just tried me tonight

My mom has the same car and it’s still going strong at 110,000 miles. The only thing I would say is to put those stock taillights back on the v8 but that’s just my opinion.

Wow that’s a sick deal! In Canada here they were going for $10k if really beat up (200,000+ kms) not what I wanted, or $15-20k for great condition (too much for me to spend on an 06-10 vehicle)
@@MarspeedCars you can run a 14.0 at 100mph in the 1/4th my dad had an 06 rt road and track (same hp, interior etc just without the Daytona appearance) and that's what he ran

Nah, u can amp these daytonas up to keep pace with the srt8, and they're far more reliable, never overheat, have the track pack, all the creature comforts, plus they are collectors as they're badged with a make #. I have #137-250.
Release the traction control/esp and you can get sideways super easy. I'm doing 0-60 in 5.2
I'm not likely to race an srt8 but it's still a pretty stout car stock and with a few mods it gets going. Also, it weighs about 300lbs less than an srt8

I have a 2008 rt and my have mid was for my grandkids since I have a stock radio. I bought a PAC bci-ch21 it unlock the video so they can watch a movie while I drive. It also gives you access to video input for reverse cam and video output. And you can input GPS co coordinates while in drive.
I just purchased my 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona #1050/2000 Red like your's with 70,000 original. I wasn't going to buy it but I fell in love from the moment I first saw her(pics don't do nothing compared to live view). The growl gave me goosebumps when I kick it over and the test drive was phenomenal. It's been tuned so all I have to do is plug n play. I happened to come across this video and thoroughly loved it. I also seen the one with the wrap...I might just do the same to mine. I do have a question...when you installed your stereo, did you paint your radio kit or is there a website you can recommend to purchase the kit pre painted in the color I need?

Make it into a street sleeper with a good combination of add-ons and stock. I'm a big fan of modified cars that look stock but are hiding that real horsepower, torque, and speed.
Think about Mopar parts to add to the 5.7, such as cam shafts, bolt-ons, supercharger, and replace some wires and pipes.
My dream modified Mopar street car is a 1986 Diplomat made into a 400 - 500hp sleeper. Easy car to play with and are inexpensive.
And as for that 5.7, boy does it put out power! The city I live in uses Charger 5.7 police cars and I love it when I get to see and hear those cops hit the gas! There's many dashcam pursuit videos of Crown Vics chasing a suspect, but I usually say, "this is when the Charger 5.7 would come into play", as the suspect gains speed.
I'd hate to see the current Hemis dropped

Nice cars you should sell the v6 and get a 2011-2014 charger pursuit "cop car" they're 5.7's and they're AWD, they can get up to 35 mpg with the benefits of having 370 hp under the hood when you need it. Got mines for 5,000 seen them go for less.
