Make sure to join the Mini-MAPathon! Hawkstorm is one of two country midwestern MAPs premiereing tomorrow • April 2nd mini-MAPathon
This MAP is about Hawkstorm's inability to cope with the guilt and blame of Tadpole's death. Hawkstorm was born in thunderclan as Tawnykit alongside his siblings Bramblekit and Tadpolekit (Tadpole for short!). But on one unfortunate day, Tawnykit and his siblings stray from home and play inside an old, abandoned barn in the midst of a Tornado. Fireheart manages to catch up to the kits but he's too late. The barn collapses on Tadpole and Fireheart has to stop Tawnykit's attempts to rescue Tadpole to avoid losing him to the rubble too. On their way back to Thunderclan, Tawnykit can't let go of the feeling that if Fireheart hadn't stopped him, he could've saved Tadpole. Unable to cope with the weight of guilt and blame, Tawnykit runs off never to return back home but he'll never be able to run away from the haunting figure that manifests these feelings.
Tawnykit renames himself Hawkstorm and takes on the "storm" suffix as a way to symbolize how he will never be able to forget the storm he lost Tadpole to.
Years later, Hawkstorm tries to rekindle his relationship with his estranged brother Brambleclaw, but their relationship is strained because of Brambleclaw's loyalty to Firestar. When another tornado strikes Thunderclan, Firestar gets caught in a fox trap. Hawkstorm is led to Firestar by the haunting figure and he's given a chance to rescue Firestar just like Fireheart rescued Tawnykit all those years ago.

I’m in SHOCK!! I cant express how honored I am to have my artwork included in this incredible project. I’m reading through the comments mentioning it already and I can’t say how much pride I feel. Thank you so much to all who enjoyed the art, it really was so fun to illustrate and I’m happy with it. Every entry to this MAP was incredible and captured the atmosphere so well, and every artist should be proud.
This MAP touches on so many subjects I love, both visually and writing-wise. Hawkstorm is going to remain in my mind for a long time, so this truly means a lot. This project is going to be absolutely incredible!

@@BlueSkyBirdies to be fair, it might not have been obvious to HawkStorm that Jayfeather was blind at first. Although I don't think my theory makes much sense since his eyes look different to his siblings in this map.

One thing I noticed is that it is only Hawkstorm who ever lipsinks to the song. Whenever other characters speak they are not saying the same things as the song, while Hawkstorm ONLY says the words of the song. It puts us even further in his perspective. That he is deaf to the words the others say, instead we only hear him. Same as whenever Hawkstorm is looking at Firestar he is stoic and cold, painted as a villain, but when he turned away, Firestar just looks concerned. I find these really neat details.

Didn’t Brambleclaw lip sync the words ‘nothing’ (I think that’s what it was) when Hawkstorm brought the kits back to him and Squirrelflight?

There's so much hidden symbolism in this map, but the most heartbreaking parts for me are the fact that when Hawk saves the kits, he chooses to pick up Holly can carry her to safety. She was the kit that most looked like Tadpole, and he was able to do for her what he couldn't do for his brother.
Another sad fact are the flowers Hawk leaves at Tadpole's grave. Its the same type of flower that used to be in his fur, and possibly represents that Hawk keeps giving up a part of himself for his lost sibling, always placing a piece of the past on his grave.
And the fact that Firestar himself looks like a fox, showing how Hawk viewed him as a terrible kitten-killer.

Well, time for Hawk to put the past behind him and focus on the present, for soon he’ll join us stars.
I like how Firestar’s design makes him look sort of like a fox. It gives true meaning to why Hawkstorm wanted to save the Three from the fox. It gave him deja vu from when he lost his kit brother because a cat that looked like a fox stopped him from helping, and he didn’t want to hurt any other kits the same way.
It's ironic that Firestar gets caught in a fox trap.

god, i adore how a plank falls in front of tadpole when he reaches out. that plank WOULD have killed tawnykit, but fireheart prevented that from happening. we already knew fire wanted to save him, but this is extra proof that he definitely would have died if he went after tadpole

OK I'm in love with the scene of tadpole clinging to hawkstorms arm and disappearing into it as he raises it. the dual symbolism of hawkstorm attempting to avenge tadpole while doing the exact opposite of what he would've wanted it beautifully done

I love how upon the end you can tell that all these parts of Tadpole wasn't him wanting vengeance against the person who didnt save him but instead he wanted HawkStorm to move on and find peace. But it was his presence that drove him to not move on at the end of the day. Hawkstorm hung onto it and grew bitter and resentful and for that he paid.
oh my god the last scene with Tadpole being revealed as the shadowy figure broke my heart. I should've guessed given all the hints, but jesus it brought actual tears to my eyes. Tadpole was just trying to show Hawk that he didn't blame Fireheart for his death, and that Hawk shouldn't either.
Haha, I thought the tadpoles flying around the shadowy figure gave it away! It's so cool that you could to experience that sort of emotional impact due to not realising though. I'm sure it made it so much more emotional!

Oml,, the comparison at 5:36 of the sheer size between them. It really solidifies how young they were. Tadpole is so small, especially compared to Hawkstorm, who seems huge and menacing next to him. The contrast of innocence and vengance. Wow.
I absolutely love the detail at 3:23, right before Hawkstorm (Tawny) was about to kill Firestar. As Hawkstrom raised his paw Tadpolekit rapped around his paw. It was like he was saying, "This is for Tadpolekit." It hits even closer to home that Tadpolekit wanted him to save Firstar so he can overcome his guilt but his emotion was just to strong and took him over. This shows that Hawkstorm was intentionally trying to kill Firstar for not letting him save Tadpolekit all those years ago.

Okay, but in TreeeTooop’s part, are we not going to talk about how while Tadpole is under a pillar, he reached out his tiny paw before a nother log blocks his view. That was so haunting…

ok so basically im not into warriors at all rn but ive been following all your maps since mapleshade cowboy map and dang it. every freakin one map made me actually feel something, which is amazing because its pretty hard with 'feeling anything' lately.. such an masterpiece with storytelling, this one and traveler feather are my favourites and actually made me shed a tear, it makes me want to come back to working on pools or maybe create something other, thank you for your incredible work and AMAZING JOB all animators, youre all amazing ;_;

Ikk same those are my favorites too and also im not really into warriors as a super-fan, its more like a side fandom i can make ocs of or draw when im lacking ideas, but MAPs are my favorite part of the entire fandom and pretty much the only thing keeping me from giving up on it

I love how Hawkstorm as a kit has the little Marigold on his persona, “… Marigold also symbolizes darker emotions such as jealousy, grief, despair, and mourning.” Such a wonderful addition to an already extravagant map!
Tadpole sniffled, “You were meant to save him Hawkstorm” the tiny wisp of smoke shook his head.
“B-But he left you there! I could’ve saved you!” Hawk choked out more blood as he tried to breathe.
“You just couldn’t let go” Tadpole whispered away, and Hawkstorm let out a choked dying breathe as he tried to call for his brother.
Really great map love all the parts, very smooth very wonderful!
I love it. I love how Hawstorm wasn't able to cope with the fact that Firestar saved his life instead of tadpole's in the hurricane. And Hollyleaf looking like Tadpole? Even better. And at 1:02 that transition was just mwah

3:20 where the ghostie grabs his arm then gets like thrown off is such great yet subtle symbolism!!
I got chills watching this. Hawkstorm's anguish at Tadpole's death and the frequent flashbacks that force us to relive the moments with him, Brambleclaw being torn between his brother and his leader, Tadpole so desperately trying to help Hawkstorm forgive but being shoved away and disappointed in his brother, it's all so perfect.
I just realized that it looks like Brambleclaw yells out "Hawkstorm!" as he's jumping onto Hawk after he was going to try and kill Firestar, as well as "Stop!" as he's pushing Hawk off to go help Firestar.
OH MY GOSH THIS TURNED OUT SO GOOD!!! Everyone did so well!

Okay, but can we talk about the after-credits parts? They were absolutely stunning! I can’t express how much joy it gives me to see after-credits! So much work went into this Map and you can really tell! Gorgeous story telling as always, Cheeteh.

@@SamuelMaybird From what Im understanding, in the story of the AU, Hawk didn't double die and was there to witness the events of The Brokekn Code, shown with spirit Bramble and Bramblefake, it /may/ also tie into Ashfur's MAP too
i think this is by far my fav au's out of all of them. it's well-written and hawkstorm's motive is both compelling and understandable, while also making it clear that the fact he tried to kill firestar isn't okay.
also not sure if this was intentional, but i like the detail of hawkstorm specifically picking up hollykit - she _does_ look an awful lot like tadpolekit , huh?
The detail of Tadpoles ghost wrapping around his arm trying to stop him from killing Firestar during the second tornado is so heartbreaking. Everyone did so well conveying emotion and grief in this, props to you all

gosh this map turned out so cinematic... the writing in this au is incredible and even just the credits scene felt really emotional and cinematic on its own. Everyone did a phenomenal job bringing it together!
okay but 2:56 exactly. The music pause, the scene with HawkStorm chasing after TadPole, running right into the heart of the storm in the distance while the hawk casts a shadow that makes it look like HawkStorm has wings? my favorite part. I'm a bit late, but the animators did so well.
This map legit brought me to tears somewhat, its not that sad, but the parts where hawk was trying to save tadpole, and then he came back to give flowers on tad's grave simply because he held onto a part of the past that he just could never let go of. In this map I imagine that ghostpole is just a figment of his imagination, leading him into a dark spiral and wanting to hurt Firestar, when Brambleclaw sees something in the exact opposite way, where he is grateful for fire saving his ass, and not thinking about where his other two brothers had gone and just being fire's closest follower because of that.
this map is BEAUTIFUL. Its so amazing how Hawkstorm, instead of being truly evil, is trying to cope with Tadpole’s death, but yet deep inside blames Firestar for it. And he held no hatred for Brambletar, only jealousy due to him being loyal to Firestar. He blames the ginger cat so much that he starts seeing Tadpole, whom later he uses as a reason to attempt to kill Firestar (or tadpole was an actual spirit, not a hallucination, im not sure lol. )
Like i said, this map is hella beautiful and is one of the best AU’s ive seen so far (Along with Bramblefur) I couldnt help crying at the end, amazing job to ALL of the animators in this map, and to Cheeta Z’s amazing AU!
5:53 ok not much creeps me out but this one bit really creeped me out. Usually I can brush stuff off and not really be too bothered but the facial expression and beautiful animation combines into a really creepy movement even if it’s only a few seconds long

Just gotta say the part at 2:16 gives me chills every time I watch this.
All in all though, this is one of the best animated, best written, and best organized MAPs I have ever seen. I've been reading the warriors books since I was a little kid and I remember when some of the first fan animations online were about Firestar not liking waffles. We've come a long way as a fandom. The quality here is stunning; I wouldn't be surprised if big animation companies are pulling their animators from projects like this... at least I hope they are because these people deserve it.

This map is definitely my favorite map, its stunning, its emotional, and its so much like a puzzle. All the pieces fit together. From him picking up HollyKit/Leaf because she looked so much like TadpoleKit to the shadow figure being TadpoleKit. Overall I think that the artists should be proud of this masterpiece. I can watch this map for the entire day if I really wanted to. Thank you to all the artists who took time out of thier life to make this beautiful piece of art. Have a good day or night.
LETS GOOOOO FIRST GOING ON VACATION TOMMOROW NOW THIS? Time to write another essay expressing my absolute love for this project and au before it even premieres. First of all the au is INCREDIBLY WRITTEN. The storyline of Hawk taking on storm as a suffix due to Tadpole's grieving is not only giving his name JUSTICE, but the story telling as well. I love how it's depcited both in the story and animation that Brambleclaw is very open to rekindling his brother and his' relationship, he's such a wholesome fluffball. The emotion of Hawkstorm's betrayl is adrenaline and shock all in one as Brambleclaw knows he has to stop his brother, but he doesn't understand why he has to go this route. AS FOR THE VISUALSSS- Each animator I've seen in this project has absolutely blown me away with what they've released, from big cinematic shots to small cute ones. Every single selection was chosen with care, I can easily see that. I also love how some underrecognized animators are featured here, I truly hope they get the recognition they deserve and rest assured when I have the time ill absolutely head straight over to support them all! From parts to memes to thumbnail submissions to even fanart and all of the above everything is so wonderfully made and it _blows_ me away. And of course, thank you so much for hosting such amazing consistent projects. I've always been a bit late to many maps but I saw the teaser and call for this instantly and I was so excited to the finished product, im so excited to see it. Hope you're not overwhelmed at all hosting all of these so close together and I wish you and everyone good health and days to come. Thank you so much once again to you and everyone who contributed to this your hard work is most definitely appreciated by me and many more!! Hands down one of my favorite warriors aus of all time.

I absolutely LOVE the way Tadpole is shown in this! I feel their expressions are beautiful and how at first it gives off a lil spooky vibe before you warm up to it. Also, the way you can see how Hawkstorm takes Hawkfrost’s place is also a great little twist! The animation is so smooth in all the parts and the theme is amazing! 10/10. Definitely one of my most famous MAPS to exist!

Yes!! I just noticed this! The green light that reflects off Hawkstorm's face at the end could be reference to Hollyfawn too. (unless I'm looking into it too deep)

I absolutely loved this map! And I love how the spirit of Tadpole throughout the entirety of it was pushing him to forgive, not to force revenge. I especially love how when Hawkfrost raised his paw, it looked as if Tadpole was attempting to stop him before fading into it. It's so sad, so sweet.
You never fail to make the most emotional, wonderful maps, Cheetah Z. Aswell as all of the artists who contributed to this map, all of them conveyed the emotion so well!
1:53 - I love this shot he looks like an extremely huggable cat.
So there are so many details in this map that I absolutely love? The tiny tadpoles around Tadpolekit that look like smoke, the part where Hawkstorm sees Tadpolekit in Hollyleaf (2:20), the part where Hawkstorm is running over the plains and the shadow makes it look like he has wings (3:04), the split-second where you can see Brambleclaw kicking Hawkstorm off of him (3:36), the registering and the sheer shock of what he's done being seen on Brambleclaw's face (3:45), I absolutely love it all!
I love the detail of Jaykit holding onto Lionkit's tail in the beginning-it's so cute!
5:38 HERE! THE CODA FOR COWBOY MAPLESHADE IS BASICALLY THE SAME AS THIS SCENE!! Character is dead, sees a bunch of horrible stuff, sees the mysterious portal which I presume leads to the dark forest!! Everything has been in front of our eyes since the beginning!

I love how this gives a better reason for Hawk to decide to kill Firestar. Making him wander apon Firestar rather then do it himself. The ending scene is also nice as well. Great work everyone!

also, when Firestar was chasing Tawnykit the tornado is positioned behind him and a hawk was behind Tawnykit. The tornado killed Tadpole, but Tawnykit believes it’s Firestars fault. He IS the tornado that caused Tadpole to die! Sorry for grammar.

Man- even though I don't like Bramble as a mate with Squirrel, the ending hit hurt for me when I saw Bramble crying. But he also worried about both his brother and FireStar- that's why he was moving back and forth . . .
just. my favorite part about this is how hurt tadpole looks at the end because well. tadpole knows exactly what it feels like to be left behind in a tornado, and tadpole is asking hawkfrost to HELP with this, but he won't. He's so caught up in his anger that he can't see all the signs repeating themselves, and he gets lost in it. And you know firestar was helping hawkfrost, but it doesn't mean that hurt any less.
Woowww I had chills throughout the whole thing that was phenomenal! The story ideas never fail to blow me away and e everyone did such a marvellous job! The visuals and emotions are astonishing! Another masterpiece of a MAP

Couldnt help but shed a tear on this one, same with traveler feather. Your maps never fail to amaze me, your ability to storyboard and everyone is able to convey their part so well that they simply arent comparable. And it all started with a cowboy named mapleshade...
(also someone said that firestar resembled a fox, makes it even more fitting that he got caught in the fox trap. Jeez the effort.)

YEAAAAAAAAAH THIS TURNED OUT SO INCREDIBLE!!! The whole way through I had serious goosebumps... The story is so well-written and boarded, the character designs in this are 👌👌👌 TOP NOTCH, and ofc the animators went CRAZY!! The transitions between young Hawkstorm and older Hawkstorm were GODLY. No joke. I LOVELOVELOVE the was you do these AU maps, it's just filled with so much creativity and intelligence that not many maps have nowadays. More Kudos to you Cheetah Z and the animators, keep doing what you're doing!!
This is now one of my most favorite Warrior Maps ever created. I love how towards the beginning Firestar was portrayed as the villain, but in the end it reveals that he was just trying to help. I cant even express how amazing this map is- Keep it up Cheeteh!

also just noticed but when hawkfrost is protecting the three from the fox hollyleaf is the one who is seen mainly the other two r blocked, which ties back to how he keeps seeing her as tadpole MAGNIFICENT STORY TELLING RIGHT THERE
also side rant cause hollyleaf is in this i absoultely despise how they did her so dirty in the books. she is turned into this villain type character and then disappears only to come back and die. and like really just give her the third power u didn't have to make a whole other arc about it.

I love how amazing the lipsync is at around 2:26, it’s so easy to see that it’s something along the lines of, “We need to go-!” but there’s no actual sound to hint at this. All of this is incredibly well done :0

The fact that the Tadpole shadow has tadpoles swarming around them is such a cute concept

Okay I needed a second to collect myself lol. But when Tadpolekit spots the tornado and mouths it? WAit omg but the Hollyleaf transition into the flashback????? CHIIIIILLS! The literal EnTIRE CLIMAX!?!?! When Hawkstorm goes through Tadpolekit I got tingles all over omggggg. This was even more beautiful than I ever expected. Bravo to EVERYOnE!
This map was soooo good the story and the character designs were absolutely ✨AMAZING✨ Thanks for everyone who participated in this beautiful piece of art I loved everything about it! I love how Firestar doesn’t look back with hatred or anger at what Hawkstorm had just done, but he looks like he pity’s him. He looks like he understands why Hawkstorm had did what he done, and is also a bit sad over the fact that Hawkstorm was never able to see that Firestar saved his life, because he would have died trying to save Tadpole.
This MAP is EASILY the coolest one I've been in yet. From the storytelling to the designs to the stupendously high standards for every part - it turned out SO INCREDIBLE!!!
I'm extremely surprised how little time it took everyone to complete their parts!
Similar to hawkstorm's past, he wanted to save Holly, who looks like Tadpole, from the fox. Just like how he wanted to save Tadpole from 'the fox'- Fireheart.

This AU is beautifully constructed, i love how you’ve delved into Hawkfrost’s past and have formed something PHENOMENAL! The merging of Hawk and Tawny! the midwestern gothic. theme! I AM LIVING FOR IT!!! (i love how your MAPs have some sort of theme ITS SO COOL AND SUCH A BREATHE OF FRESH AIR TO SEE CHARACTERS IN NEW SURROUNDINFS) and the flashbacks to Hawk’s past flow so well and clearly. and.. trans hawkstorm FUCKING YES😳😳😳😳😳

I am blown away. FINALLY we have a correct representation of Hawkfrost's (storm's) death! It was an accident, Bramble never wanted him to die. Gosh I love this story so much!
This is the most gorgeous, cinematic MAP I have ever seen. The amount of skill and care put into every single second is ASTOUNDING. All the artists involved should be so, so proud of this!!
Im still rewatching this and when Tadpole dies someone starts chopping onions. I cannot stop crying!! This map really touches my heart especially the events and sequence. Can’t wait to see more maps in the future!
I love how at 2:27 you can actually see Tadpole saying "we gotta go!" or something like that. Great detail!
