    Glad to see yours is operational. Unfortunately my 5KW Westerbeke's raw water pump seized and I'm waiting on the new pump to come in. I'm getting one with a mechanical seal which is supposed to extend the life of the pump. I run the generator every time I take the boat out and each time I start it (and the main engines) I immediately check for exhaust water flow. After about 15 seconds of belt squealing and no water pumping I quickly shut her down. Well, you've heard my complaints about boating in FL and I've decided to do something about it and move our 310 Sundancer up to NJ in 2025 to spend summers up there with my boating friends. Life's short and uncertain and we need to enjoy every minute of it!

      I had to replace the water pumps in both our current Westerbeke Genny, as well as the last one. Salt or freshwater, nothing lasts forever I guess....

    Always nice when something dormant for a while just starts right up! Our generator did too with no problems, except I, like you, forgot to turn the ignition batteries on first!

      I don't think it's cleaner than your kitchen Bill. Your sister would never allow that ;-)

    Launching this Thursday. Once we are in our slip we will it will be time to see what Gremlin got in and broke the things that worked last year but not working this year. Generator will be on that list of things to check

      Hopefully all (most) will be trouble free. So far, we've had a broken water line and another failed float switch (video coming soon), but those things are to be expected at this time of the year.
      Here's to fewer issues for the rest of the season 🤓

    Thanks for sharing this great video! I just started our generator on our 34 Sundancer. Do you have any experience on changing the anode in the heat exchanger? I had to take the exchanger off the last time to get to it. Thanks!

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před měsícem

      That's something that I've never done on any of our boats. Given that we're in freshwater, it's not as critical as saltys.

    If your engine hatch electric actuator should fail, how would you open the engine hatch?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před měsícem

      One can manually open it and I produced a video talking about how, five years ago. Check it out here; czcams.com/video/jawhnFyQIDI/video.htmlsi=em6O9O-7e4Et8ERx

    I thought there was an unwritten rule that when you fired the generator on a boat you either had to make coffee or use the blender to make icy drinks. What size genny is that? Does it run everything on the boat?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před měsícem

      I'll go for a coffee in the next start-up 🤓
      Yes, the genny has more than enough power to run everything on the boat. Full specs for the boat/genny/engines and more are in all of my video descriptions 👍

    • @ampegor
      @ampegor Před měsícem

      Ya saw that after I hit enter lol. That genny is nice and small for the output
      Mine is 1800 rpm and 6.5k but is much larger than yours.

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před měsícem

      @ampegor Ahh, for the good old days of only 1,800 RPM generators, like we had on our Sedan Bridge 😅
      What make do you have that it's so much larger?

    • @ampegor
      @ampegor Před měsícem

      @@BoatingWithBoogaboo it’s a westerbeke 6.5 bcg circa 89-90. Hard to tell from pictures but it looks a lot larger than yours.
