I am 62. Gloria Steinem influenced my life so much, especially during my teen years in the 70s. That's when I too started really not only seeing the injustice to women, but feeling and experiencing it. I read Ms magazine religiously. The 'No Comment' section in the back of the magazine always pissed me off until my head would explode. Now I'm an older woman, mellowed a bit, but I thank Ms. Steinem for her courage and bravery. She is a hero, a real hero for women.

These "labels" are only what the tradition created as outcasts.
The post-modernists want to remove them of course, but you have to identify the problem if you want to go anywhere, and so these "labelled" social movements (which are more efficient and more ethical when coordinated with intersectionality a.k.a union of movements) have identified the problem of cultural categorization and are trying to put term against the irrationnal and uneducated elite in power doing whatever they want on minorities.
Them uniting to defend themselves is a natural response against a counter-productive appeal to tradition that creates irrationnal repulsion against them.

To Ms. Steinem, and author of this channel: What is the difference between feminism, and egalitarianism?
That is a question I have asked many feminists, to which any have ever answered.
I am not obviously Gloria Steinem, but the movements and ideologies are called feminisms because women around the world had suffered and are still suffering sistematic discrimination just because the societies they live in consider women inferior to men (which doesn't consider non binary people), while patriarchy also affects negatively men, it gives them power over us neverthless.
Francis Castiglion You wrote a long response, and I honestly don't feel like giving a class on gender, that's why I recommended you that if you want to discuss about feminism at least read some feminist theory (Friedan, MacKinnon, Butler, Rubin, etc), otherwise how you want to criticize a movement not knowing its basics, it makes no sense. Egalitarianism and feminism are not exclusive though, but if you say I'm not feminist, I'm egalitarian you treat them as contrast to each other, invisibilizing the fact women have been oppressed and still are, it's the same that happens with the black lives matter movement and the all lives matter movement, they don't have to be exclusive, because, in effect, everyone despite any condition has to right to live, but the intent behind the "all lives matter movement" is to invisibilize the fact black people in the U.S, as in others parts of the world, are in more danger of being victims of the police. P.S: I didn't say that, but if you want to criticize something, it'd be the logical path that you knew about the other, in this case, movement in order to criticize it.
Women in 3rd World Countries are oppressed, but the women in the west (1st world) are not. And even with that, egalitarianism would create a systematic balance for women in those regions.
I'm not sure why some people have a problem with egalitarianism, yet claim to be about equality in feminism. It's almost as if you're rejecting egalitarianism because it doesn't connote a specific focus on Feminine. The truth is, some people don't want an equal balance of attention and advocacy: They actually do want a specific focus of one gender. i.e. FEMinists or MEN'S Rights Activists.
Regardless of how much you don't want to admit it, egalitarianism is truly equal (especially to both genders) just because other factors are considered (like economic status and ethnicity) doesn't make it anymore favorable to Males over Females.
