+Wolf Lobo they do, they just have a different opinion than yours. some people like country others like metal. both are good genres, it just goes down to personal opinion :)
+Kenzie McCarrel It's the least talent involved way to write a song. Break it down to just playing the chord changes and make it super slow. No talent. Just money.
Yesterday I was taking photos (sunset) in the beach with my girl. After taking photos, I got closer to her, played this song on my phone and started dancing. Just... The most perfect moment I had in my life.
+Murray Snelgrove I agree, but have to add one. Tori Amos is a magical... song cover-er. Her covers of songs have blown my mind for... gosh, over 2 decades? Check them out, I would start with Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat", it will just slay you. And random 80s stuff like Total Eclipse of the Heart.
Best version of The Safety Dance I've ever heard. You take one of the most ridiculous songs on the planet and it make it one of the most beautiful songs ever. This is why you are one of my favorite bands.
+CNugget S I remember the video feeling a bit silly but not the song, the words are good, which is one reason I appreciate this song, it outs the words front and center.
urbanmyths95 sucks to be you. I think it adds depth and makes it mean more than the original song ever could. The tone of the song affects it's meaning. The original song wasn't "fun", it was a protest song, but anyway. Sorry it made you feel something.
I've been a Men Without Hats fan all my life but I've never heard such a beautiful version of their most famous hit, Safety Dance. What a contrast from the original song. Lot's of nostalgia and sadness in the voice and interpretation here. This is an amazing contrast from the original song and it's theme, the dance, which is very joyful. I accidentally discovered Sleeping at Last last night as they played this song in a Quebec TV series, "Les beaux malaises". Sleeping at Last is a wonderful discovery for me. Éric
This cover reveals the ignored depth of the original. The words sung this way open a whole new world that the cover artist was talented enough to spot immediately. Some people just are better at recognizing deep talent and artistic reservoir, I guess. Like Shakespeare, there are many interpretations possible on stage. Modern ones. Classical ones. Satirical ones. Ones adapted to local or contemporary politics. But all of them are based on and adapted from source material that has that protean X factor. Safety Dance, I guess, has that X factor. What a wonderful adaptation it is that can add depth and unexpected nuance and make us realize that the original song was perhaps more than we thought. Well done.
We can dance if we want to We can leave your friends behind 'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance Well, they're no friends of mine Say, we can go where we want to A place where they will never find And we can act like we come from out of this world Leave the real one far behind And we can dance (Dancé!) We can go when we want to The night is young and so am I And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet And surprise 'em with the victory cry Say, we can act if we want to If we don't, nobody will And you can act real rude and totally removed And I can act like an imbecile And say, we can dance, we can dance Everything's out of control We can dance, we can dance They're doing it from pole to pole We can dance, we can dance Everybody look at your hands We can dance, we can dance Everybody's taking the chance Safety dance Oh well, the safety dance Ah yes, the safety dance We can dance if we want to We've got all your life and mine As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it Everything'll work out right I say, we can dance if we want to We can leave your friends behind Because your friends don't dance and if they don't dance Well, they're no friends of mine I say, we can dance, we can dance Everything's out of control We can dance, we can dance We're doing it from pole to pole We can dance, we can dance Everybody look at your hands We can dance, we can dance Everybody's taking the chance Oh well, the safety dance Ah yes, the safety dance Oh well, the safety dance Oh well, the safety dance Oh yes, the safety dance Oh, the safety dance, yeah Well, it's the safety dance It's the safety dance Well, it's the safety dance Oh, it's the safety dance Oh, it's the safety dance Oh, it's the safety dance
I swear to goodness I just finished watching Friday's episode of Carrie Diaries and heard this! I looked for it one time and saw u posted it less than half hour ago. YOU ARE A GODDESS!!!!! Thank You!!!!
Sheesh. This is like the version I'd expect to hear on Scrubs, which is ironic, considering the original version featured in one of Turk's funniest jokes ever on the show.
As much as I love the original and this version, both versions put across differnt feelings. The original make smell want to dance (safely of course) where as this version makes me feel more relaxed and makes me wonder if there is a deeper meaning behind it. Either way, you can't simply compare the two. They are both fantastic
just heard this song on a Publix supermarket ad in the Tampa Bay area and thought this singer has a wonderful voice...and a very unique voice...kind of like how Cat Stephens had a unique voice. Love It!
I always find it interesting that some people feel the need to bash pop songs as if they were unworthy of being considered real music. The original was a fun song in its time context, and this version gives it a completely new life that proves there was something valid there. One cannot make a purse out of a sow's ear... My two cents...
I heard this song in a Publix commercial, so different from the original that I didn't even realize they were connected at first. Glad I finally found out who did the cover.
Thank you so much!! I LOVE the original New Wave version of the song and it's weirdo renaissance characters - so I was blown away by how different this version is and how it magically work. Especially how the used it to back the scene in Legacies. Im definitely going to forward to some friends that have always jumped up and danced with me when the original version is played. 😘😋🙃😎
How does he do this? This song was originally by Men Without Hats. I remember this song. I was a child when my Mom played it for me.I think it came out in the early 80s. But Sleeping At Last takes the song and makes it awesome.

I have never experienced such a powerful re-make of a song. Genious, creative, inspiring.

I totally agree with you, Kelly, and I am two years behind your comment.

Why does this sound so sweet and loving? It's fantastic.
Best version of The Safety Dance I've ever heard. You take one of the most ridiculous songs on the planet and it make it one of the most beautiful songs ever. This is why you are one of my favorite bands.

i disagree this sucks out all the charm and fun of the song for me
urbanmyths95 sucks to be you. I think it adds depth and makes it mean more than the original song ever could. The tone of the song affects it's meaning. The original song wasn't "fun", it was a protest song, but anyway. Sorry it made you feel something.
The original is a "Ridiculous"-ly brilliant song...
I think this version is so much better. I love it so much.
This is officially posie’s song

Very touching ending to that episode.

Safety dance

We can dance if we want to
We've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it

Yes, I agree. I heard this song on the Publix's commercial... ❤
posie song
This is one of my favorite songs made into an AWESOME cover! Props Sleeping at Last!
As much as I love the original and this version, both versions put across differnt feelings. This brings back so many memories (from when i was a younger child)
I heard this on a Publix commercial, I was so happy to know it it is "sleeping at last"😍 their amazing and underrated. The commercial was so cute.
This is the same rendition my daughter did her lyrical dance to. It was absolutely beautiful! Love this version of the song!
This is beautiful. It brings tears to my eyes.
I Love the original. I cried while listening to this the first time. What a totally different spin! Beautiful.
I always find it interesting that some people feel the need to bash pop songs as if they were unworthy of being considered real music. They transformed a silly and cool song to an Awesome and Beatifull music.... congratulations!!!!
I heard this song in a Publix commercial, so different from the original that I didn't even realize they were connected at first. Glad I finally found out who did the cover.
One of my favorite things is when someone does a cover of a well known song and totally reimagines it. This is pretty brilliant.
Brilliant version. Thanks
Thank you so much!!

Love this song! The original is so up fun and bouncy and this is calm and sweet
If it's too slow for you, 1.25 speed is nice, too.
Alyssa Tidmore NOT
I heard this version on the Carrie diaries kind of made me cry
I love this version just as much as the original by Men Without Hats, but for a different reason. Beautiful cover.
Je préfère cette version plus douce... Belle découverte aux Beaux Malaises.
Heard this at a restaurant just now and had to look it up. I still prefer the original but I absolutely love this rendition!
