(527) FLUID ART - First try with Alcohol Inks! Functional Art - Two Techniques CTC Collaboration

- Today I am trying Alcohol Inks for the first time! My fellow Pouring from Coast to Coast Collaborator Michelle Galli challenged us to create funtional art, so I decided to decorate some ceramic pieces I picked up at Michael's (on sale!). I used Brea Reese Alcohol Inks (again, on sale) and Ranger for the gold. I need practice, as you can see, but it was quite fun and easy!

Chris, these are both gorgeous! I love them! Yes, voiceovers are our friends!
Thanks so much! 😊
That was fun to watch Chris! I really like the design on the little planter. Thanks for sharing & enjoy your weekend. 😊💖
Thanks very much Judy...you too!

So creative and AMAZING. ❤❤❤
Thank you Carolyn! 😊
I love these Chris! Fabulous ❤
Thank you my dear!
Wow! Those turned out beautiful!! What a great idea! 💖
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow!! I love your techniques.So cool 😎
Thank you for the challenge, Michelle!
Chis, these are gorgeous! Ive wondered about alcohol inks! Thanks for sharing with us!
My pleasure! I need to try it again. 😊
OMgoodness Chris! I thought the jug would not come out as good as it did! And I’m in love with the little planter!! ♥️♥️♥️
Now I’m itching to try this!
✌️💜😊
Go for it Dee! Just be careful and use safety precautions! 😘
Stunning! Great technique for those of us that can’t quite get the hang of AIs!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
I'm so sorry I missed this! I'm loving experimenting with alcohol inks. But, it's nothing like any medium I've used before... lots and lots of experimenting is absolutely necessary... at least for me. I love what you created, Chris! I can't wait to see what you create next with alcohol ink!😊✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
There are some great tutorials out there! 😊
I bought a bunch...guess I should use them! 🤣
They turned out great.
Thanks Lesley! ❤️
This stuff is so addictive 😊 There other techniques too, like stamping the inks on and layering. Some people use a paint brush and turn the vessel sideways so it flows nicely. I have found layers to be key. I hope you keep experimenting, it’s so fun. I’m working on stamping a vase now 😊 There are a ton of ornament videos that do these techniques if anyone wants help.
Thanks Patti! Yes, I've seen some wonderful pieces...I look forward to experimenting some more. 😘
Very cool, Chris! Love the little dish. I have tried this on a little glass vase. I didn't realize that I could leave the plastic wrap on for 24hrs. Mine didn't get the texture like yours. It was very blended, but still pretty. I love that you can use a brush and alcohol to remove certain parts or create a design. Very forgiving. Great experiment/1st go around!😁😘 Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Brenda! I can see how these inks could be very addicting...there are so many ways they can be used! 😘
So cool Chris. I need to play with some ink. ❤
Go for it, Cathleen! Just be careful. 😘
That came out great! Alcohol inks can be tricky 🙂
Thank you for watching! 😘
Hi Chris, I love your experiment! I love the little planter with the cool patterns. I really love the handles on the large vase. I loved the different shades of blue you used, but I wasn't a fan of the gold. It was a great idea to texture it! Have a wonderful weekend. ❤😊❤
Thanks for the feedback, Gayle! You have a nice weekend, too! 😘
That's very pretty! ❤
Thank you Linda! 😘
I think they turned out really great... beautiful patterns on that little planter. Alcohol inks are fun but a real learning curve which ive tried a little ln some coasters using the bigger blowy thing. You've renewed my interest . Thanks for sharing this i really enjoyed watching your video tonight 💕
Maybe I need to invest in the big blowy thing! 🤣 Thanks, Lori! 😘
Well until now I haven’t wanted alcohol inks!! I love what you did with yours. I have some clear vases I might give it a try on although I think it would look better on white like yours. Great job Chris. 💙💙💙
Thanks Paula! I've seen it on clear pieces and didn't like the look as much as on the opaque surfaces, but it's worth exploring, I suppose! 😘
hi Chris my friend. I use ‘Denatured alcohol’ for my alcohol inks and ink dyes(at any Ace, HD or hardware store} You can dilute the colors with it successfully and even after colors have been applied it is like a ‘wash’. 😉
Good to know! Thank you for the info my friend! See you Monday! 😊
Very nice!
Thanks for the visit!
Haven't been here in quite sometime Chris, hope your new format is working out for you... hope you are keeping well. Happy Easter to you and yours from Western Australia xx💜💙💚💛
Hi Jenny! Thank you...my new upload schedule has really allowed me time to pursue other styles of art, so that's a big plus. Happy Easter to you as well! 😘
I'm glad you have moved on to explore more options Chris, I know you have wanted to for a while now. I think the ink on ceramics is a novel idea, havent seen anyone else do that. That said I rarely come on here now...take care love from Western Aust.@@ChrisJeszeck
Love these Chris I didn’t know Michael’s had ceramics like this. Never heard of that brand of alcohol inks. Where did you purchase those?
Thanks Kathy! Also from Michael's. 😊
