  • An FCE or "Functional Capacity Evaluation" is typically a 4-hour test to determine the physical abilities of an injured worker. Depending on your region, the test may also be referred to as a PCE or "Physical Capacity Evaluation".
The test typically involves a variety of physical tests, including lifting/carrying tasks, as well as more repetitive tasks, such as reaching and repetitive use of the arms/hands.
In addition, your FCE examiner (often a physical therapist or occupational therapist) will assess your tolerance for different positions, such as sitting, standing and walking.
Preparing for an FCE can be somewhat stressful, especially if you feel like you're being pushed through the workers' compensation system.
If you have any questions or concerns leading up to your FCE, please post them below, and I'll do my best to help you prepare!
