    Awesome video! Loved the fact that you showed us how much you saved and the spreadsheet was killer. (I haven't seen another youtuber show their cost vs if paid retail). Thank you for that.

    Thanks for laying it out. A lot of influencers omit the costs of all the positioning flights/hotels and the return trip. The business class redemptions sound great until you add all the positioning flights/hotels.

      Those positioning flights can definitely add up! And they're often not a great use of points, so it's just a cash spend.

    I’ve been trying to do this for the past 2 weeks and when I call virgin atlantic they say the flight is not available! I’ve tried from almost every airport and they always say it’s not available!

      availability has been super sparse lately and they usually just pop up for last minute flights. When are you looking to fly?

    I’m sorry, I hope I didn’t miss something in the beginning. How did you learn, then confirm the amount of points needed for Virgin Atlantic? I only saw that Seats.aero and United showed 110k points? How many did it end up costing?

    • @purplerose9041
      @purplerose9041 Před 2 měsíci

      There is a redemption chart on Virgin Atlantic website which lists all the routes and points required. Google “Virgin Atlantic Redemption Chart”, you’ll find it. For one way business class from San Francisco to Tokyo (Haneda or Narita), it would cost 52,500 points to book with Virgin Atlantic (per today’s chart) while United required 110k points. In the video, she said she paid 90k points for 2 one-way business class ticket to Japan, but that was before they increased the redemption rate. Occasionally there is 30% transfer promotion from Amex/ Chase/ Capital One to Virgin Atlantic. In such case, you’ll get 1.3 points for every 1 point you transfer to Virgin Atlantic, so you transfer 1/3 less of points needed. You are lucky if you can find award flights and also get the transfer promotion at the same time.

      great question! here's the tutorial that goes more into detail for how to find the Japan flight on Virgin Atlantic: czcams.com/video/7OTC6b7E2z8/video.html
      It cost me 45k points per person, but they've now increased the price to about 52.5k points per person from the west coast
