I enjoy all of your of your videos for several years now. I'm one of the "posh folk" who watch on the TV so rarely post comments. I was moved to comment on this one as I was born in Beeston in the late 50's and would ride my bike down to the river and nature reserve as a kid. My late father's cousin owned an old WW2 air/sea rescue boat that he kept on the Trent and I'm pretty sure it's the one shown at 8.53 minutes in on this video. If so it saw duty rescuing downed bomber crews from the North Sea during WW2. I'm living in Upstate New York now about a mile from the Hudson River which is tidal up to Albany. I lived on a narrowboat from 1986 until 1993 when our oldest son was born. Thanks for all of your videos. They bring back many fond memories. Keep up the great work and be safe and well!

Your coming into our area of cruising. The Trent is delightful from Nottingham down to Newark (both lovely towns).
The tidal section is also good, as long as you follow the map guidance for avoiding sand banks, etc.
Torksey lock is easy and the trip down to Boston great. Especially going into Lincoln and through the Glory Hole! Loads to see. Only one place to refuel, though.it’s just before you get to Boston.Boston no longer has fuel facilities. No fuel anywhere on this canal either.
You’ll find the Chesterfield interesting. It’s quite narrow and prone to heavy sections of blanket weed but well worth the effort.
We are moored at Goole Boathouse marina where there are full devices (including fuel) without having to go into the marina.
We are now doing our local canals/rivers so might see you on our trips out.
Enjoy this gorgeous part of the waterways.
    Cheers

Hi, I love your videos. I'm sure you will love Nottingham so much to see.
Then hopefully you will be coming to Lincoln which is my nearest city.
You will love Lincoln especially the Bradford in the centre where you will probably moor up. Lincoln is a wonderful place and doesn't have that big city feel. Make sure you go and see the magna Carter at the castle. Safe journey and look forward to your next video.

Hi It was a lovely place you started from. It’s always so wonderful watching you both. I’m slowly catching up on your past videos. I did years ago go on an old friends parents boat on the canal it was so warm & cozy. I can’t remember where but I know I went through that very long tunnel which I hated. I believe years ago they went through on their backs using their legs😵‍💫Am I right?
Our aunt has a boat on the canal in Croughton Chester. She’s lived on it for years more than I can remember possibly 30+ years. Loved the coziness when visited in past.
With the summer ahead I look forward to where you go next x

      @FloatingOurBoat  Před rokem +1

You are absolutely right about legging it through the tunnel. Thankfully that is a thing of the past. Tunnels are bad enough going through with an engine! The cosiness is the loveliest thing about living on a boat and easily makes up for the limited space. Thank you for watching

We feel the same, those locks and the river look frightening. We will definitely cross paths....probably in the middle of the tidal trent!!!!!

With you Rich on the whole folding bike thing.... Sadly once you come off the Trent and head to Lincoln and ultimately Boston, your view is hindered by banks... On a bright note Lincoln is fab and Boston has some great features. I'm leaving Crick next weekend and heading the same way as you (Lincoln being my home City), though I'm intending to take more leisurely approach, with a two week stop over at Castle Marina. Glad your doing something new and in this weather I too would rather be her than in Portugal....

I see what you mean about the views on the Fossdyke, but it looks like there will be some good cycling and we are enjoying the big skies from the bank .

Lovely part of the UK, brings back some memories, I was born and lived in Nottingham for many years and used to fish regularly at Attenborough Gravel pits as it was then. I now live in Thailand, nice but you can not beat the English countryside on a summers day. Looking forward to your new travels.

Nice to see your new vlog, enjoyed it, as always. We bought our boat four years ago and had to travel down tidal Trent from Cromwell lock to Keadby. We were advised to buy a chart at Cromwell lock. Glad we did! The water was so low we could see the tops of sandbanks. Very scary. We then waited 18 hours for the tide at Torksey (where you will enter the Fosdyke canal I think). We were then lucky enough to meet a couple who travel that stretch on a regular basis and know the water well, (Torksey to Keadby,) so we followed them. Quite an experience. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi Dawn. It is an experience. We have made it safely into Torksey and had a very smooth ride. We will be going up to Keadby after we have been down to Boston. So far no problems

@@FloatingOurBoat that's good news. I was remembering the trip for us and at one point I said to Chris, my husband, "look that birds walking on water" as we drew closer I realised it was a sand Bank. 😆 Have a lovely trip. Thanks for the reply. X
