This guy is a legend. Korg is doing the right things.
And now Behringer's joining on the fun with affordable semi-modular synths. It's a great decade to get into synths!
For the price, nothing beats it. Even twice the price you would have a job finding any better. The sound, the filter, the sequencer. Pure class.
Is it better than the Roland tb03?
Do you think it would be a good duo together with the Arturia Microfreak? 🤔
Am I the only one who's impressed mostly by how he made that riff using the Octave knob? Damn!
Volca series are one of the most interesting synths on the market. So small, yet the things you can do with them are amazing. Their sound is soo unique
Holy shit....I think I'm in love with Tatsuya.......
Countess Boochie Flagrante What is doing now that he left Korg?
@@josephwright5921 don't think he left the company, just changed his job title.
Korg knew where to invest! Not only tech . Some good looking dude keeping cool like straight out of an anime character while dropping hard ass grooves ! Well done korg well done ! Sold !
The developers are brilliant. I love how capable this is for being so compact. That and the interface on all the Korg products I've had the pleasure of using are always incredibly intuitive. So much thought and foresight put into everything.
Together with Volca Keys and Volca Beats, it's very reminiscent of the Roland TB303, MC202, and TR606 combo from over thirty years ago. Thanks Korg for providing a modern, very affordable (and great sounding) alternative to the highly inflated price of the classic vintage Roland gear.
I felt the same until I realized you can have the three VCO's running three independent sequences...that sold me.
Absolutely brilliant stuff Korg. If this guy is the chief engineer, Korg has a very bright future ahead.
buy one of these for your 5 year old..see how long it takes for your mind to break. =)
Takahashi-san rocks. I hope KORG appreciates what he does.
I love how Korg is sort of giving a certain company beginning with "R" a big middle finger, like Korg know there is a market for analogue synths and grooveboxes, and it's nice that they have made their own take on the x0xb0x machines that a lot of people would like to at least own. Wish Yamaha and Roland would re-make and enhance their legacy hardware, who wouldn't want a brand new today 808, 909 or Juno 106 eh? I know I would :D
After watching every video on CZcams about the Volcas I bought the bass and I am minutes away from having the building destroyed by bass ! Great synth - you should probably show it connected to MIDI controller so the folks can imagine what is going on here ;] Great product !
You had me at 2:00 mark. This is a monster in a small package. Definitely adding one to my studio.
The seq is superb , as with your other groove boxes! Some good logic behind your products, you make them so fun to use!
God that bass sound is just so tight.
volca looks great. clearly the form factor is a crucial part of the offering here in their eyes. personally, I'd prefer they added $50 to the price, made the unit 2x the size and had a specific button for each task and a few more confirmation LEDs etc rather than loads of modalities. be nice to know if anyone knows of the equivalent.
amazing features! the independent active step setting for each sequencer part is really outstanding! please produce and ship it quick, i'm waiting here! :)
Bought it to day.....thx for the inspiration 🎼
Really like your reviews, great man.
I'm totally hooked on this..
I will need to watch this many times...
Yes. Thank you Korg!
Adic house is alive and well, this makes me very happy! I can't wait to get my hands on one of these ;)
Korg Triton back of you. Best keyboard of 2000s. I still have it
IM IN LOVE WITH THE HOST
Some might say you fall too easily.
Brilliant 😊just bought one !
You can synchronize the Volcas with your Es-1 with a MIDI cable. E.g. Es-1 MIDI OUT to Volca MIDI IN, the Volca will act as the slave module. However I think it's possible to sample the click made from the Volca's sync out jack in to your Es-1. And make a click track to sync the Volca with the Es-1, but you will loose 1 track on your Es-1. I assume you can send the sequenced click using the Headphone socket into the Volca sync in, and use the Line Out socket to your mixer or amp in theory.
este ha sido el único vídeo demostrativo de manera excelente donde me ha dejado muy claro acerca del nuevo producto de korg.
The size of it for the sound it makes beats many other gear, not just the price. Any desk space loves this little monster.
I love acid sound, sounds amazing
I just ordered mine today. So far only the Bass and Keys are available in the UK. But not the Beats, so I guess the Beats is going to be the most popular Volca. I bought the Bass first, thinking it would be in the most high demand, but I probably like the Keys more than the Bass. I will give the Bass a try out first before purchasing the others models. That's the smart marketing behind these modules, they are at an affordable price and you don't need to buy all of them at once.
4:02 sounds like a bunch of terminators trying to hack NASA
Hahahahha priceless comment
you should review albums
I think you meant NSA...?
This really sounds cool!! :-)
I've been gassing on one of these guys since the day this video released. But I kept buying other gear, because I didn't like some of the (very reasonable considering the size and price) limitations. I finally bought one last week and oh my god it's amazing. Not my most 'serious' or powerful synth, but the filter is so very nice, the oscillators too, the sequencer is awesome, especially with the 3 different sequences of different lengths for each oscillator. Add a Monotron Delay for some gritty lo-fi dotted eight delay fun and I suspect my other synthesizers will barely see any action for the next months.
@@Fonkemman the Volca Bass
That was most impressive, Takahashi-san! You had me at 00:28 .. keep up the wonderful work!:)
amazeballs!
Roland TB....thanks for your sounds.
Sssooo... The three different voices can play three loops at different lengths polurhythmically!? Awesome!! Genius!! Gone are time signatures!
it is, shipping takes time mine arrived yesterday!!
Volca sets the new standard
Awesome
can't wait :)
great !
active step allows the possibility of odd time signatures. i'm digging that! 2:13
at 4.50 it sounds like a one-man-band falling down the stairs , while somebody hits a bag full of parrots with a cricket bat..hmmm
Ha ha, the best comment I've read the whole day
Just because of your comment I will now forevvvva associate Korg with a bag of parrots looool
How? I don't hear it.
r/oddlyspecific
hardware rules. And this thing is prove!
I like the 303 because of its familiar sound. Doesn't mean I'm not open for other bass synthesizers aswell ;)
This one sounds really good actually.
Nice one buddy, I LOVE 💘 JAMMING WITH bass TOO...
KEEP ON JAMMING POSITIVE 👌 vibrations 💛❤💚✌✌✌
Korg rules everything around me
check the old Tannoy monitors in the background.. unbeatable!!
dancetech I was ogling at it.....put those and a phat girl in front me....ill be dead
This guy can go up to any girl he wants and say in his British accent "check out dis synth I made for you gurl" and it's OVER.
damn, i need this.
It's not shown in this video, but from some demos/reviews I've seen it does seem to have some sort of accent-like ability.
Reminds me of a modern TB-303! :)
I'm gonna buy a stash of the bass lines and sell them all for millions in thirty years time!
Get in!!!!!
Very good demonstration here.
But i will be choosing the Analogic TT-303 instead.
we are in love now...................
Of u, me too
I know that's a big plus for me

I can't stop looking at the KR-55B sitting on to
I think that it has 8 memory banks. I'm not 100% sure though. Also I don't know if it also saves the sound settings. But I do think you can set 3 different sounds for the 3 oscillators and switch to a different memory bank and a different oscillator at the same time.
I can't stop looking at the KR-55B sitting on top of the keyboard behind this guy.
Is there a PDF manual where to study all steps? I've found just a simple guide on Korg website... really unusual... not any complete guide of this amazing stuff
The live play aspect of this machine isn't quite versatile enough as compared to the beats and keys. It bothers me that really the loop is relatively short, so if you're not making acid music it falls short. However, hook this up to any piano and now we have a workable instrument, I believe it really shines when used this way.
I wonder how good the lead sounds are. Could you do the high note of Cars Gary Numan for instance?
A lot of this sounds like ediT. Way cool.
I don't know if anybody noticed the midi in's on these things in case you don't want to use the ribbon. I hope to get one for drums and sequencing my minibrute.
I actually have a 303 so I wish the synth lines used in this demo weren't so inspired by it. Good demo and interesting machine though for sure.
Can you manipulate the tempo of the sequences?
Does anyone know if i could sync this through the mini jack with the Electribe es1 ? or do i have to use midi ?
Sounds amazing, like the acid of the 90's. I have a question though : How would I sync the Bassline to be in time with the drum machine from Korg ? thanks
rubber duky use a connector from the audio out, into the in of the drum machine
whats that visualizer monitor in the back right? im looking for a monitor myself
Fun little synth and this board has the funniest posts toi read while the squiggle machine gets its knobs twisted.
OHHH my TB 303 will have a new friend, sooon !!!
3:36
Yea,....The TB-3. I know you meant the Volca Bass, but Roland is actually re-introducing the TB-303, TR-808 (TR-8), System 100, etc. But none are pure analog. They're Romplers/Analog modeling.
Hey,when will this will be available in Germany ?? The release gets set back for months and I'm not even able to find them in international stores...
Can i connect this to my pc through midi and let ableton record what it plays?
this kind of reminds me of a remix of Takkyu Ishino's "St. Petersburg," I like it! Also which Volca's are in this video? Is that the Volca Keys, Volca Drum, and Volca Bass?
That is one hot KORG employee
which controls can be recorded with motion?
Hello Friend. What's up?
I want to know how you do to save the projects after they have been made? Do you have any USB ports for this or otherwise?
Thanks. Big Hug.
In your face Roland!! :D
But how about creating a whole song..creating patterns and link them together..like in the TB303..is that possible?
Like the video but I can’t keep up on playing the volca bass
Will I be able to midi sync them with other kit???
Been enjoying my KVBass for a couple weeks now. I found it a lot more intuitive than the Keys though that may change with time. There are a few negatives: 1) No external control/selection of the 3 VCOs. 2) No swing (but like the Beats/Keys, you can input a swung pulse via the sync-in). 3) Loop duration is only one bar (all my favourite basslines are 2-4 bars) - V frustrating. 4) No delay and no Motion/automation (V odd seeing how all other Volcas have effects and Motion recording). 5) Given previous limitations, Korg are targeting Techno/Electro musicians more than Hiphop.
its £100 m8... im not sure where your set expectations are coming from, but theres NOTHING on the market at that price that comes anywhere near this....and you will be waiting a VERY long time before ANYONE never mind 'korg' produce all that for £100! LOL
you need to spend £500, minimum. and stop dreaming. =)
So can I plug in a MIDI keyboard, detune 3 squares, and add portamento to play Lucky Man? Or is there no portamento?
Alba Ecstasy - One Volca, please!
I want to use a MIDI keyboard, not the sequencer. Does it have real portamento or just slide for the sequencer?
can I layer patterns, play one line. then layer a second line.
i have a crush on this man
is there an audio input that you could process say your voice???
How do you enter frigging notes pitches in step mode?
why there is no motion rec!!!?
you can play it via midi.
0:28 just blew my work speakers
I have a dumb question but how do you insert it in logic pro X ? Do logic recognize the machine?
nuy bueno
