I saw jacob collier on tv and was so impressed that I decided to look for his song on CZcams. I stumbled actoss “bridge over troubled waters” which took my breath away. Im a cargiver that recently lost my brother. Then I found “world o world” which blew me away. I actually felt a shift in my consciousness. I felt I was led to both these pieces..

What people don't realize that Jacob is doing here... he is quite actually proving something the scripture says.
It says that the voice of every man woman and child can glorify God and under the leadership of a simple shepherd can sing like a choir before him if they would only humble themselves and take simple direction. He's taking entire audiences that have not been rehearsed, most of them do not have choral or vocal experience, yet they humble themselves and take his simple direction and they produce a sound that is heavenly.
I don't care how many of these videos I see it always touches me deeply and I always well up with tears every single time.

    • @catherineono3387

People dress up to go see him, to listen to his creations, and maybe, just maybe be part of them, but the guy shows up in Crocs and his pajamas haha and is cool with that..and everyone else doesn't mind him dressed so because he has content
I want to be so good at what I do that though I may choose to be simple in presentation, people will still respect me because of what I deliver, and how I deliver it, excellence from my attitude, to my work, to my outlook in life

A million years ago when I was in grade school, our music teacher had us sing different notes to her specific hand motions that corresponded to the do re mi scale. Once we had a starting pitch, we could sing anything. I've never known what that technique was called, but this is the closest I have ever seen to it. ❤

Essentially, the audience was made up of a bunch of choir directors who know how to do everything music. This was in Cincinnati, Ohio a couple of weeks ago. I got the pleasure to be a part of another choir at that conference, but I did not get a chance to see him. I got really excited when I saw that he did this and was there, considering the fact that I performed on that same exact stage the night after. Hope this clarifies some things!
