The wood is secured to the factory brace that I showed. It's a piece of MDF cut to size.
It's good to see in this day and age someone who takes pride in their work. Quality is long time remembered after the price is forgotten.
The only thing i would have done differently is attach the negative to one of the many negative points the manufactures place inside their vehicles.
Thanks! Critique taken. Ya the whole company has high standards for workmanship.
hi, do i need to install the overhead monitor bracket always on cross member, or I can simply drill the screws on the bracket and bracket can simply placed between head liner and monitor itself. I dont see any clear vidoes.
I plan on doing my own install for my 2012 ram. My questions are, Can you run the yellow and red wires to the radio harness? The yellow and red wires come with an inline fuse close to the monitor, should I install additional ones or move them closer to the power source? Great video
Great install!!! Im trying to put a roofmount tv in my wifes Murano.. The unit has built in speakers and dvd player as well. Can I just replace the dome light with the unit and connect power to turn my tv on? Or do I still have to run cables to get power elsewhere. Like I said I just need power to it no need to connect to factory speakers etc..Please let me know what I should do..thnkx
Great video! Liked the heated knife/awl tip and the tape with drill tip! Good to know!
Thanks for watching!
@@AnthonyJ350 Have you done a video on Audiovox? I have one came with my used vehicle but no working remote😩 Thanks

Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
Hi there , I have a complicated situation , I have a lexus IS250 '06, no navigation. I'm planning to put a pioneer 2 din stereo DVD, but I want to retain my 6 disc changer for personal reason. Can I use a harness to connect the pioneer with the 6 disc changer connected together ? Pls Help
good work! clean install. I may have to use this video when I do mine in an F250 Lariat.
Thank you!
Hlo bro i have endeavour 2005 modle but i got inbuilt roof screen but it shows no signal how to use it bro
Dang wish I could have you install my overhead DVD player. Awesome job. I now know this is a job I don’t want to attempt myself.
Thanks for watching!
Right!!
Hey man real nice install, nice job.
I have the same truck but a 2011, where do I get those wires/cables or are they a specific type that you could tell me so I can find them somewhere.. also where do you connect all the wires to, except for ground, I got that.. and you were explaining the cables that you want to connect to the center console, but didnt show how you did it.. and which dome light wires did you tap into, or it doesnt matter? Appreciate your time.
A KEEPER!🤗 THANKS! Your expertise is appreciated
Thanks for watching!
I actually have a problem with my TV's in my Chevy Express van they're the flip-down ones does anybody know why they won't go off
Nice. What would labor typically cost on a job like this... ? Looking to have a DVD installed on '11 Odyssey.
Great job on the install! Definitely didn't cut any corners and you did it right. Assuming you have a head unit that can play CZcams, if the flip down monitor is connected via video/audio rca, will it show on the monitor?
As long as the head unit is able to send that signal through its video output, it should.
This looks like an ford Expedition, right? I just ordered a flip down dvd player to install on my '15 Expedtion. Where did you route the wires from the unit? Did you go down to the side through the a pillar?
I think this was a minivan of some sort. Yes typically in that area we run wires.
That’s an amazing skill that you have⚡️
Thank you!
Great work!!
Thank you!
Hey Anthony, any chance you can give some advice on how to get a stuck DVD out?
I have this same model in my car and the DVD won't come out, it plays the movie though when I try to eject it nothing happens. It just says error? PLEASE HELP!
+Marco Antonio Ooooooo, yaaaaaaa....... If it doesn't eject at all and you can't see it, you have to disassemble it. Did you get extended warranty where you bought it from?
Does it affect the drivers rear vision from the rear vision mirror? Or does it differ from the installation and application
The bigger ones do yes
does the headliner of a 2005 honda odyssey can hold a 16" screen?
Yes, you just have to find the brace in the roof to attach to.
how does this affect the battery. What if I just want to watch a 2hr movie with the car in park. Will it drain it? Do I need to keep the car running?
I have install a flip down tv theres lil lines on the picture dude told me that i need a better battery so the i could get a better quality is that true?
What's the voltage and ground look like on your multimeter?
Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for watching!
I want this guy to install my kids Xmas pressy
We can if you live in British Columbia, Canada.
So I just bought a truck that has this same one installed already but It won't say on or playing once I shut the door and the dome lights shut off? Any idea on why this might happen and how to fix that problem?
Payton Bennitt I would check fuses first. there's no telling where they caught power if it's aftermarket but you could turn the truck on and check all of your OEM fuses. if nothing checks out then you'll have to find where they caught power. I would remove the driver or passenger A-pillar trim to find their wiring then follow it to see where it's connected. I always install an in line fuse if I'm tapping power from an OEM circuit, hopefully it's as easy as finding and replacing that fuse. it sounds like you lost accessory power but ground and illumination are still there
very nice install! :)
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
how long those it takes to install a unit like this on a 2014 sienna and how much for the installation? I could tell you are a pro.
I'll spend half a day installing one.
One question would it be easier to install one if my 2003 explorer comes with a factory one like can I connected with the wires from the stock one
You might be able to use power and ground from there. If you're creative with the audio wires you can probably feed in the audio from the head unit there too.
do you secure the wood to a cross brace in the ceiling or just sandwich the unit between the headliner?
You'll want to secure the wood to the cross brace if possible. You'll have to use short fasteners to avoid going through the roof.
AnthonyJ350 So why did you skip that part in your video?
I got a Rockville rvd14bgb with wiring that is confusing! My old advent is broken a d the wirings are different could you help me?
Most of these units just need power, ground and accessory.
My screen keeps falling down, I tried Velcro stickies under the screen to the inside, nothing is working. It's driving me insane. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Magnets. You can get very small diameter rare earth magnets. You'd have to place them near the screen and see if they affect the image.
AnthonyJ350 I got some expensive Velcro yesterday, it's strong. so far it's working but I'll keep the magnets in mind, thanks
I have the same issue; what velcro did you buy/how much $ ? Would like to know if it works before I go out and buy neodymium magnets.
Why would small magnets affect and LCD screen?..lol LCD's don't get electron interference unless the magnet is insanely strong.
Try super glue or gorilla glue
The drill trick was so slick.
Terry Reyes Ya makes taping long runs a breeze.
If my 2004 dodge durango have 1 dvd from factory. How do o hook that 1 up to the after market radio?
You have to take its video output and connect it to the aftermarket video input.
Where can I get the power from for a after market overhead in a 2003 Ford Expepdtion
At the fuse panel or thick gauge wiring inside the cabin.
Hi I was wondering how could I remove it from my ceiling I have an 2008 Hyundai santa fe limited
It's usually held up by screws.
Nice attention to detail. I want you working on my stuff.
Thank you!
I have a 7 inch flip down it has a backup camera input I was wondering can I hook my 15-inch monitor up to that input
Does the monitor have a video output?
I have a 99 chevy silverado 4 door will an overhead dvd player work in that?
Nicole Alonso You can, I can't remember if the 4 crew cab has a flat roof liner though. I have an extended cab and it has these curves down the middle. Regardless you can do it, it just might require a bit more work.
excellent job!
Thanks!
we are trying to replace a dvd player. how do we connect to an in place wiring harness?
Are you replacing the factory overhead unit?
I need to fix the latch on a flip down TV
Hey quick question do you know if it has any antitheft sistem because I have the same one I disconnected power put it back and now it won’t turn on
Not that I know of. Is there a fuse in the unit?
@@AnthonyJ350 yeah there was the fuse of the antitheft sistem I had in the dash the light on changed the fuse and it started working
Great install. Former installer.
Thanks!
I have an original flip down unit in my truck I want to replace. I'm not sure how to install the replacement upgrade
Highly recommend you bring it to your local experienced install shop.

Of course! Huge respect for veterans. Did you see the fund raiser on the video?

My tv rattles, when we hit bumps and stuff. Any ideas how to fix it??
Andy Herrera Need to tighten the screws or the mount needs to be tightened.
Thank you, I’ll try this.
I have my Toyota sienna dvd screen installed by a certified "tech " but it continuously drain the battery. so I unplugged . what could have done wrong?
If all the wires test properly either the battery is week and the dome light feature is in the "on" position and not the "door" position. Or the unit may be faulty.
I checked and recheck the unit...alas you're absolutely right... unit dome light constantly draining the battery even its in off position . thank you , More Power to you
The lights on those are LED which draw very little power. You might want to have your battery checked out. It'll work this summer but if it gets cold in your area the motor will need more cold cranking amps and might not start when the temperatures drop.
I have to disconnect the led from the unit ...we'll see if it will drain the battery ..thanks again.
I drive a Tahoe and where the DVD Player is mounted it completely blinds the rear view mirror. Why not have it mounted off to the side?
+John Lane I think all my customer's would complain it's off center and it would look so weird. I would do head rest monitor if you don't want to block the rear view mirror. Or install a camera in the rear and put a mirror in with a screen.
Lots of vehicles like cube vans and semi trucks don't use center rear view mirrors.
+John Lane good point
+AnthonyJ350 I would be concerned about safety rather than looking weird.
John Lane When I was a kid my parents told me to enjoy the ride and behave. Overheads didn't exist. You could just close the unit if you're that worried about it. Factory units are installed in the middle. But I guess everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too right?
use your side mirrors
Why so many dislikes?? He did a great job , efficient and effective 👏 people can be funny
At the time I didn't invest in lighting because I didn't know any better, so I take responsibility for that. Or people aren't turning up the brightness on their phone? 🤷♂️

where are you located ?
Maple Ridge BC
Yeah nah I'm hiring someone to do this 😳
Valerie Williams I think me too
It is better for a shop to take the risk with a headliner.
I'm wonting to make a Kool gameing caring case how much power to run it..?
You'll need a power inverter if you're putting a gaming console in.
Want gauge of wire did u use ?
16 gauge
What dvd do you own?
I lost it
Does't this block the rear view mirror?
Yes it does and so do the factory equipped ones. You'll have to resort more to your side mirrors. Cargo vans, semi trucks and pickup trucks with campers can only use their side mirrors, so it's doable,
Anthony J350 any help for me?
What's your question?
How hard is the install for beginners with no experience with electrical experience?
I highly recommend against it. There isn't a lot of room in the headliner and there are a few key things to consider whenever doing an installation like this. I would pay a professional.
@@AnthonyJ350 Ok thanks, I appreciate it.
did you guys also install the rca connections on the bottom?
If I have a head unit in the front that is compatible yes. If we're doing it as a stand alone no typically.
Twisting those wires with the impact driver to wrap them in electrical tape seems really ill advised. Just put them in a split loom plastic sheath or some nylon sleeve (techflex).
+IMP3TIGO Twist wire all the time. We twist the heavy gauge wire individually on the heavy gauge to straighten it out. Also you can do this after, czcams.com/video/lPucCd7Rbgc/video.html
My question is how do you see through the rear view mirror with that thing lol
+Steven Neidlein Ummm this is where I install a backup camera with the ability to turn it on any time you want...
+Steven Neidlein It is a problem for any roof installed DVD players, including factory installed units. When kids are watching it and it is retracted - yes, big chunk of your rear window is blocked. Do not like it - headrest units is the only option.
If you feel a bump you backed up enough
I REALLY LIKE UR DRILL MAN IS THAT A MAKITA WITH A HARDEND OR IMPACT DRILL BIT THAT WORKS NICE- IVE BEEN USING A POS LITTLE SKILL DRIVER BUT I FIND THE SMALL IMPACT DRIVERS TO BE ALL AROUND BEST!!!
Ya I love Makita power tools. They don't have the most torque but I love the quality and ergonomics of them.
Right....I put a flip down in my truck its a 02 tundra there's only 2 wires when I took the doam light out.... I thought they were just pos n neg and I solderd the flip down wires to those... it all worked fine except the tv shut off when all the doors closed man.... then a week later the lights all the door light wouldn't shut off with all the doors closed the tv n tv doam light would because the switches but I cut the wires resolderd new wire relocated the d ok am light and nothing will come on , the radio is shut off too .....so I hooked up a switch n everything turns on but the radio memory is reset, all the eq´s too
I can hook up a relay ,& im sure it will all work right but the radio's yellow wire whys it being interfered whys it affecting the radio.. im just lost at what todo
randall jr Benoit I'd take the overhead off all the dome light wiring except for a light trigger if it has it. You should grab accessory and constant from the ignition harness and fuse near your hook up. Also run your own ground as well.
thanks man - yeah the 2 wires I never checked I think 1 was constant and 1the other was pos+ and the screws were the ground- its a 2002 tundra access cab 4.7 4x4 fyi- but I just relocated the doam light to behind my seet above my anchor and ran a positive threw the rear pillar and head liner and used a pice of thin wood paneling to keep only the screws as contact points for ground as it has a door on and off mode- everything works great - amaizing how 1 light could cause so many different issues but the fuse was also blown to start-the tv has a inline but I ran a 15 amp from the power source just in case- and I know it hhas constant power going to it but the truck shows no drain on my two optimas and there are no visible leds lit as the tv turns off on its own when its shut- I KNOW IT MAY BE HARD TO READ- BUT THANKS FOR YOUR HELP BRO-
Poor visibility on video but a good video thanks! My opinion for the next one is use as much light as possible....

How much do a job like this cost
Depending on the vehicle half a day to a full day of labour.

Cutting that roof up with a knife was possibly the most painful thing I have ever seen
+James Bhanvra How else would you run wires for these over heads? No matter what you have to modify the head liner, how ever you look at it.
I didn't mean for it to sound like I was complaining, I simply meant that hearing and seeing that being cut gave me anxiety
James Bhanvra Oh I see what you mean. Ya headliners are not cheap to replace, that's for sure. If you screw it up.
It would be nice if you would put a light on why you're doing the work in the truck it don't make any sense why are you doing it in the dark
