I remember when this ad campaign started. What they wanted to say but couldn't is, "please come here it's now safe"

Omg, I spent childhood summers in Connecticut, and I remember these ads. Believe it or not, I was just reading a post about New York, and this song suddenly popped in my head 😭😭 Isn’t it crazy, how every single thing we’ve ever seen or heard, is still somewhere in the recesses of our brain- waiting to pop out at any moment?! 😂

I saw this ad when it came out. That summer, we were in Lake George, where some of this was shot, especially the end, I'm sure. Aside from the sights, I especially recall someone walking a baby cougar down the main drag one evening.

The now late actor portraying the NH Fisherman really lived in MA and was from Texas and his name is Rex Trailer and he starred in Boomtown of which was a local little kids Cowboy Show that lasted for so many years.

He meant he loved the whole of New York that goes beyond Brooklyn! It was also an ad to encourage New Yorkers all over our state to enjoy venture out and experience things right here in their own state that are new as well as welcome out of state visitors! 😊

Yeah. Kings County. A separate County with its own court system & even sport teams is a part of NY city. Just throw a buncha counties together then call them boroughs & presto, you have a mishmash city 😂😂
What if LA did that. Not only would LA be massively bigger than NY it would be as big of a wreck as NYC is now

I guess the person who doesn't love the state of New York, is probably from Texas....... just an assumption.. that's all......... Because I love and lives in New York......

Wasn't the "I Love New York" tourism campaign spearheaded by Gov. Hugh Carey and NYC Mayor Ed Koch? Given the city's bleak reputation at the time for urban decline, financial insolvency, high crime rates, decrepit subways, and other chirpy stuff, I doubt it did much in the way of increasing tourism revenue.

@@the430movie Why do we need Giuliani and Pataki back? Are you one of these people who's bought into the manufactured hysteria about crime rates? You do know they're lower now than when Giuliani left office, right? And among the lowest they've been in the past 60 years? And that NYC is still one of the safest large cities in America? And that Giuliani probably had little to do with the drop in crime, as that trend was happening in cities all over the country at the same time?
