Phil Hart, a Senior Engineer in the Electric Power Systems Lab at GE Research, explains the role grid-forming inverter controls and fast frequency response can play in stabilizing wind and solar power.

I have always wondered why is that the power grid so complicated. Great effort is made to keep the whole thing balanced. My interest is the increasing levels of renewable energy that are being developed. In order to address the fear of intermittency power has to come from surplus areas. My idea is to make energy transmission battery to battery and from there to areas of use. It is my understanding that the Tesla MegaPack will be able to act as a substations. Thanks for the Talk.
