- This week marks the 40th year of Stagecoach proudly serving our communities and connecting the country sustainably to the people and places that matter.
Sir Brian Souter and his sister, Dame Ann Gloag, founded the company in 1980, and over the past four decades Stagecoach has pioneered greener and smarter connections here in the UK and in countries around the world. Today, public transport continues to play a critical role as we meet the challenges of Covid-19 and look to a green recovery.
In this special anniversary video, Sir Brian and Stagecoach Chief Executive Martin Griffiths reflect on how our journey started, the values that drive Stagecoach, the critical role of our people, and our focus on our customers and local communities. They also look to the future and how our services can help deliver a greener, smarter, safer, healthier and fairer country.
Happy Birthday Stagecoach 🚍🚌
I went for an interview at my local depot 3 years ago. The manager told me I had the job, went thru the training process, hub training and lessons. I was so excited. But everytime I called for a start date, the manager told story after story. 6 months later, I gave up. I applied with another company, they put me thru my cpc tests, lessons and test, passed all first time. I love driving a bus, perfect job for me. Just unfortunate I was let down by one of your depot managers x
Happy Birthday Stagecoach! thanks for running such a great service

Let's hear the other side of the story!
I ❤️ Stagecoach
41 now :D
I drove an EV for 4 years and recently gave it up because I realised private car ownership is not the future, even if they are electric. But I refuse to get on an old, dirty diesel bus such as the ones that come down my street in Worthing every 30 minutes.
At the very least you need to commit to never buying any new buses that aren’t full EV. No hybrids. And ideally you should be actively replacing them now. You might be able to squeeze years more service out of these buses but we don’t want them. Save the huge cost of diesel fuel and switch now.
There aren't many electric buses on the market let alone any here in the UK. the only Electric Buses here in the UK are just Alexander Dennis E200MMC bodies on BYD or Yutong chassis unlike the Diesel and Hybrid buses which are on Volvo or Scania Chassis that 100% won't be built by slave labour in China since they're manufactured in Europe. I think Volvo has an Electric bus for sale in Mainland Europe but not here in the UK for some reason.
wclifton968 So BYD and Yutong are immediately disqualified because they’re Chinese?
You would prefer to continue polluting our towns and cities with these dirty old vehicles because of your perception that anything Chinese is automatically immoral?
Chris Till they’re not disqualified for being Chinese. If BYD or Yutong were from the Republic Of China 🇹🇼 then that would be okay but they’re not; BYD and Yutong have close ties to the Communist Party of China 🇨🇳 and the CCP is generally known for human rights abuses such as Forced Organ Harvesting, Genocide, forcing political prisoners to manufacture goods for foreign markets and blaming the USA and UK for all their past mistakes such as the Great Leap Backwards and the Cultural Devolution.
I guess it’s no surprise then that I hate PRC companies and the CCP and this is coming from someone who uses an Acer desktop PC which is Taiwanese.
wclifton968 We don’t have time to be picky and wait around unfortunately. And Taiwan is irrelevant in this case since they’re obviously a totally different type of country with progressive politics.
@@christill Still Ethnically Chinese though.
I got a stagecoach book for Christmas 2021
Well Mr Brian Souter will you kindly come to Kingston upon Hull your company here in hull is really letting you down as we don't have any managers any more in our Hull yard through the walk out over the strike the managers have walked away and so have the super visors we only have too drivers acting as managers and a drivers wife has come in to run the reception desk at foster streetb
I love stagecoach, also will the e400e on the coastliner be fully replaced?
too early to replace them
ok, its just that i saw 5 MMCs
CantEvenSpell Five Worthing E400 MMC deckers are on loan at Portsmouth to help with capacity, with five MMC E200 singles going the other way. The Scania’s at Portsmouth maybe replaced in the next year also as they’re getting expensive to maintain and the new Enviros are much more cost and fuel efficient
@@darrennicholson7671 noooooo! but yay, since the MMCs have USB and comfy seats
Happy birthday!! You're older than
Listen kid, I dont have much long left, but stagecoach is older than [melts]
@@Enviri lmao
If only I cared. Introduce newer buses in the cities that you’ve basically forgotten about. All of our buses are awful.
Very true the 10plates modern for city no
Peterborough needs new busses we was promised 25 new ones instead we have ex Cambridge 2010 busses
Lucky you! Cambridge has ex London 2009 buses with rock-hard seats
Only £6 from Scotland to London??? wow how things have changed now it's £7.20 (kids) or £12 (adults) just to go 30 mins down the road.
I used to really to like Stagecoach until about 2013 then the service started going downhill, meanwhile First rebranded it's tarnished image and showed how outdate Stagecoach had become. It took years for Stagecoach to catch up and what did they do bring out some crappy childs drawing livery.
Now a German company
Happy birthday shame in peterborough no great busses old
Still not run at peterborough very well rude management are so rude one off your buses not my car drove off
Stagecoach are shit I'm literally waiting for a late bus that's dirty and shitty
M
Happy birthday stagecoach
