- The Airborne Museum can be found in the heart of Sainte-Mère-Église
it contains a collection of over 4500 items from the second world war with a particular focus on items used by the paratroopers who fought during the battle of Normandy.
The museum consists out of 4 big buildings, the WACO glider Building, the C47 building and one of my favorite parts of the museum, Operation Neptune.
Operation Neptune shows the nighttime embarkation on D-Day set out from a C-47 aircraft, and fighting trough the Normandy country side.
The museum is a mix of modern and classic displays.
And I would highly recommend going to this museum, but beware that you have to pay for parking and it can be easily overlooked.

I have been deeply connected with Ste Mere Eglise since I was a kid. I used to play Call of Duty 1 for fun where the 1st mission is the liberation of this village. I was mesmerised by the setting and that parachute on the church left a big impact on me. I started to investigate about the village and its story and came to know the magnificence of the military action and the fact that Ste Mere Eglise was the 1st French village to be liberated on D-Day. And just like that, I developed a deep interest in the whole WW2, watching countless documentaries, movies, read hundreds of books etc making me the WW2 buff I am today.
My dream is to one day visit this museum and experience the location first hand where it all began for the Allies and me personally. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you for the comment and I hope you get to visit Normandy one day.
@@PanzerPicture Thanks!
I had the pleasure of visiting this museum, albeit all too briefly, while on a Normandy tour. I’m a museum nerd, and I agree with your assessment.. this museum was excellent. I only wish I had a full day or two to see the museum and St. Mere Eglise. Great review!
Thank you for the tour...excellent...
Thank you Bill 👍 👍 👍
Wow, I can see why it's your favourite..
this was a video that was informative , and not old tired warmed up pictures !!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
Great, well shot and informative!

Very,very cool walk thru...
I visited Sante méré Eglise in October 2018 unfortunately the Airborne museum was closed that day and my itinerary didn’t allow a repeat visit another day.hoefully I can make a return visit in the future and it will be high on the list of places of interest .
Jolie vidéo, merci de le partage :)
Merci.
This is easily my favorite museum in the area. But I am also the great grandson of a 505th PIR veteran, and he fought in Sainte-Mere-Eglise during the Normandy invasion, so I am a little biased towards the town.
This is seriously one of the best, it's cheap big has a lot of the major planes that were used a great collection, thank you.
You're welcome glad you enjoyed watching the video.
Hey there, I been there. It is great.
Goed werk 👍🏻
Bedankt.
If you like "The Longest Day" movie you have to visit Sainte Mere Eglise and Airborne Museum. I visited them in 2014.
not sure if anyone cares but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother for the last few days =)

@@PanzerPicture yes that's correct it's a neat little museum and they have day events in weymouth every year with many reanacters and vehicles,
I think I saw pictures of those events, looks really great.
Que cantidad de material....!! Los planeadores se utilizarón para la tóma del puente Pegasus que aún hoy existe...
Hi. Love the channel. Hopefully travelling next April for 5 days. Do you have a top 10 list of sites/places to go. I would trust your brilliant views. Thanks again and keep up the great work
Thank you for the comment and I have a Top 10 museum list czcams.com/video/Y2RgrsmERgE/video.html
I will probably make a list of tank monuments to in the future so keep an eye out for that.
Rejoining your Troops after having escaped from POW is against the Geneva Convention.
That came about after ww2
Ci sono stato...bellissimo
Hi, Panzer. Greetings from Texas.
Very nice job; I'm fixing to go through your other videos thumbnailed over here on the right-hand side of my screen.
How long would you recommend taking to visit these museums? A couple of hours each? It looks like these have been set up in the atmosphere I've long preferred for museum trips -- quiet, with no loud music or other sound effects. And I hate other visitors jabbering away or using cell phones.
But that's just me.
I've put these places on my bucket list. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for you're comment and question, I would say an hour, but I don't know if your the type of person that wants to read everything or just enjoy the displays?
@@PanzerPicture
Both.
I presume that the museum is not complete yet. They appear to have only recorded the American landings…
It's an airborne museum about the American sector.
SME liberated on 6 June by Ed Krause, 3 Bn/505, not 7 June. Interesting video none-the-less- it is a much better museum than the Dead Man’s Corner museum.
Thank you Baron, but the town was in hand of the Paratroopers on 6 June, but the battle was far from over and it was won on 7 june.
Panzer Picture I won’t argue with you!
Wow! What camera do you use? Thanks!
Canon 80D, I don't really like it and had a better experience with my Nikon.
