    I just bought my first bike a couple of months ago, and it is a 2008 victory Vegas, only 9,000 miles on it. I’ve gotten many compliments on it and it is a great ride, I’m hoping it lasts me a long time.

      Sweet! I have 106,500km on mine now, and the only issue I had with it was an electrical one - bad connector I believe. Mechanically it is rock solid. Enjoy!

    I want to own a Victory Vegas someday because I love Kawasaki Vulcans, Yamaha Strykers, and I heard the Victory Vegas puts them to shame. THAT is a bold statement.

    • @grinchbiker5399
      @grinchbiker5399  Před 7 měsíci

      I've ridden a Vulcan Nomad 1700, and my Vegas would walk past it. I haven't ridden a Stryker or Raider, so I can't say how it compares to that. However, my Vegas has never left me wanting and I only have the 100 engine. They started putting the 106s into them later on, so those must be fun. Good luck, I hope you get a Vegas soon!

    I love Victory, American made, less $$$$$ than the other American make and the Victory make will turn heads. You stated one of the turn signals were wired backwards what do you mean? I would believe that the cycle prior to leaving the factory were vigorously tested before shipping, either way my favorite colors are Dark cherry and the Blue and White and in Australia they opened up a Victory dealer which i hope will expand to the U.S. because this style of cycle is different yet handsome. Peace.

      The signal was wired that way on purpose, not sure why. Something to do with how the computer works I guess. Good to hear they still exist in Australia, hopefully they are a comeback

    What symptoms did you have when the rectifier/regulator went bad? Mine is struggling to start, battery draining down to 7-8v, but it's a good battery, good starter motor, etc. New fuses, spark plugs, fuel pump rebuilt, throttle body adapter is new, starter solenoid is new.

    • @grinchbiker5399
      @grinchbiker5399  Před rokem

      As it turned out, after replacing much of the electrical system, it was all good. The problem ended up being a bent pin on the connector from the rectifier to the bike (on the bike side). Basically everything would work perfect, then the engine light would come on (I didn't have a volt gauge). At this point, the bike was running off the battery, and it didn't have enough juice left to start the bike. It would happen every few weeks or months. The connection was good, if connector got jostled, it would cause a disconnect and the problem would show up. I installed a volt gauge to keep an eye on things. If yours is a slow drain that you can monitor via a gauge, it sounds like a rectifier. Mine would show up intermittently and drain the battery fast. You can use a multi-meter to test things. There are videos out there to show you how.

      @@grinchbiker5399 thanks for the detailed reply! Taking mine to a proper mechanic this morning actually, can’t wait to find out what it’s doing. Been troubleshooting for months.

    Thank you so much for making this video I have an 05 victory Vegas and I've been worried sick up all night with the bike parked because of a loud ticking and i was horrified something serious was up. But it seems vics clunnk shifting and tick sitting

      The valve train does clatter quite a bit, but that seems normal. The transmission isn't the smoothest one I have ever seen. As long as the noises aren't really bad, then it's probably normal.

    Nice bike, looks like you take good care of it. I own a 2007victory 8 ball & just love it. I was wondering what oil do you use?

      Those are awesome bikes! I just use the factory Victory oil change kits. I can still get them at my dealer. I'll have to find an alternative once they stop making them.

    I switched from Harley's to Victory's 10 years ago because I've had problems with every Harley I've had. I have NEVER had a problem with any Victory. They're mean, gritty bikes and you can't hurt them. I now have a Judge and a 2017 Vegas I bought new from the dealer. No regrets. Just have a couple of dislikes: (1) Engine feel. A lot of engine feel with a hard mounted 1700cc engine. Man, what a bike they'd be if that engine were rubber mounted. (2) The gas tank filler is in the center of the tank, over the tunnel, so when you add gas, you have to hold the neck of the nozzle up because the spout won't go deep enough into tank.

    • @grinchbiker5399
      @grinchbiker5399  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Couldn't agree more, I wish they still made these bikes. I like the engine feel, although rubber mounting it would give more comfort on those long trips. You nailed it on the gas cap, I could never figure out why they didn't move it to the side so you could get a little more fuel in.
