The soldier they talk abt is King David, the guy who slayed a giant with only a slingshot and a few stones and fought with God on his side. The poet is apostle Paul, he wrote half of the new testament books in the bible and died by getting beheaded while defending his faith. The king is Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself so that we can get the chance to stay with him in heaven for eternity. As the lyrics say, he died with a thorn crown on his head while getting crucified. And he is in King David’s family tree, the same guy who defeated a giant which was anointed to be king by Samuel the prophet.
