"Who is he then?"
He's the USEC that was fighting the main character at the start...They decided to team up against the Scavs(scavengers, locals) instead of killing each other, because they've no hope of surviving ang getting out on their own.
When he "surrendered" it was a Russian Army base, since he's Russian PMC sent by the government they're supposed to let him in and out of Tarkov (which is locked down), but for some reason his password/pass is no longer good so now he's stuck in Tarkov. USECs were hired by a company called Terra Group Labs, who had a lab in Tarkov but they did some bad shit and got the whole area locked down. Now USECs are stuck inside Tarkov because their command abandoned them.
You have UN and Russian troops keeping the peace and evacuating civilians. The Scavs are mostly criminals who decided to stay behind.
There's going to be a lot more episodes, and they're in talks with a company to make it into a legit TV show.
This sets up the game, where you can play as either USEC or BEAR and you have to try to Escape from Tarkov. Right now the escaping part of the game isn't done yet, and there's no story quests yet. Right now it's mostly just PvP with some random quests thrown in to keep you busy.

Escape from tarkov is like gambling in my opinion (Like if the situation was a real thing). Istead of poker and card games, you play with your life to get riches. Go in with nothing, get out with riches... If you got what it takes. Atleast from a scav's point of view i think that's correct.
no the USEC is american. they teamed up to fight scavs and then the bear steals the case from the USEC when he was asleep and trys to extract at a extract but by the time he got there the password had changed.
@simpel Skif is the main Russian character. His team dies in that fight with the USECs (British and American PMC operators). He kills all but one of the USECs (the one with the shotgun that throws him out of the window). They both run away from the shared enemy (the Russian scavs that chase them through the woods). Then they meet again in the woods but decide to fight the scavs together for a better chance of survival. Then when they take shelter together, Skif searches the American's backpack and realises he was one of the ones that gunned down the scientists and took the secret case. So Skif steals the backpack while he's asleep and runs to the military checkpoint in an attempt to escape Tarkov. For some reason his password doesn't work, and he's forced to visit Russian dealers still in Tarkov for help.
@simpel He didn't take the USEC with him, the USEC guy is still sleeping, the BEAR snuk out and went to his base while he slept i think.
The guy he teamed up with is the same shotgun USEC he had fisticuffs with at the beginning. Notice the yellow scarf/beanie.
also same dude from episode 3 who was holding the top of the stairs, you also see him in the locker room with all the other USECs before the fight starts

the group that shot at him while he ran away were scavs. they are not trained military personal but afaik normal people like the residents of tarkov. that is the reason he survived in that moment.

@@Salidin111 lore wise very few scavs are civs most are criminals who stayed behind to scavenge tarkov the majority of civs where extracted by the UN and Russian armies

I watched that for the first time on New Years and it put the biggest smile on my face lol I do that stuff xD be like on me on me cease fire suppress fire and me and randoms wipe the big boys loool always worth even the many times Iv just been betrayed still worth it.

Episode breakdown since the clarity of this episode isn't the best:
Everyone who went with Skif are now dead, Skif plays dead and kills two USECs, and starts a fight with another(USEC with yellow beanie/scarf). Right now, Skif has a green beanie, and the USEC he is fighting has a yellow one. The fight ends with Skif falling out of a window, and Scavs end up chasing him. The Scavs(basically a group of bandits made out of civilians left to fend for themselves in Tarkov) chase him to the woods, where we cut to the yellow beanie guy, also in the woods(this part gets confusing because its a jump cut to the USEC in the woods, it doesn't actually show him leaving the factory) he gets saved by Skif and teams up with him.
After a while, yellow beanie and Skif are in a building, resting. Skif opens a phone, which he got from the black beanie BEAR right before he threw the grenade and got shot in head, on that phone is a message from his girlfriend, that basically sums up to her being pregnant and her waiting for Skif to come back. Skif then goes to sleep and has a nightmare of the USEC stabbing him. When Skif wakes up and yellow beanie goes to sleep, Skif realizes that yellow beanie is the same guy as in the USEC's helmet cam footage he got from that scav(the one that slaughtered all the Terra Group workers and his other team). Turns out his bag has the package inside that is what Skif's original group was looking for.
After this, yellow beanie guy isn't seen for the rest of the episode(either killed by Skif or left there). It then jumps to 3 hours later, where Skif is at the Seaport PMC extract, Skif and the guy operating the extract talk for a bit, Skif had a password to get out, but the guy operating the extract says that his password is no good, and that he needs a special pass. Skif calls for an officer on duty, he then gets shot at, and leaves. He then goes to Ogryzok's trading post, and tells the trader he wants a ticket from tarkov, and he will pay using the package he found on yellow beanie. The trader then says to meet them at the radar area in two hours, that's where the episode ends. This is where the premise of the actual game comes in, trying to survive and escape from Tarkov.

Keep in mind this episode was meant to be released over 2 months or more before it actually did, but got delayed due to the pandemic. They most likely had to cut and re-edit some scenes (and it definetly feels like there were some last moment editing there), thus I think that's partly why it's not so action packed, although, honestly I don't think it has to be, some more narrative doesn't hurt. The directors played their cards and released what they had and it's fine with me. The episode by no means is bad in my opinion.
When you go to play Tarkov, look into getting in contact with one of their "Sherpas". These are skilled players that volunteer to help out newer players. You'll definitely want some kind of help; Tarkov can be unforgiving

@8:00 when you asked who the other guy was, our man skiff from the bears, ended up teaming up with that USEC pmc he was all out scrapping with in the changing rooms, bc all of their comrades died in that big firefight. It’s just those two.

for those people who are asking about USEC, the USEC itself is an American PMC, but they don't just recruit Americans for sure, for example, the guy in the camera video sounds very British, and also, Terra Group is based in UK.

The Raid episodes generally come out every 3-4 months. So you'll be waiting a little while until the next one, heh.
in 2:40 they didn't chek the all dead BEAR bodies because the last USEC said "There's one BEAR here"
There are some "unseen EFT raid" making of footages where you can see how the actors where instructed and trained. I'm not an expert in military domain at all, but those seem quite serious (and maybe worth reacting to?)
Here's hoping you do Medal of Honor at some point. Oh and that guy Skif teamed up with was the same USEC shotgunner guy with that he had a fistfight with in the building, he's the one with the yellow cloth on his neck. Since they were both running from a ton of scavs.

If you don’t know the story really. It’s basically Bears VS Usec VS scavengers. What you just saw was everyone from both bears and usec dying except the last 1 on each side. They had the brawl, then was attacked by a group of scavengers/separate malitia. Bear and usec teamed up and escaped together
This series is establishing an "example" story for why all the PMCs are stuck in Tarkov. Their employers sent them in to do a job, but abandoned them for dead when the job got messy. The USEC were sent in to secure important items from TerraGroup lab hidden in Tarkov, and destroy all evidence. The BEAR were sent in to catch them in the act and bring back hard evidence of TerraGroup's activities. But shit went south and all the PMCs got locked in to cut off loose ends. You can think of Skif as your average BEAR PMC in the actual game. Abandoned and doing whatever he can to survive and escape the lockdown city.

@@AwesomeNuke I acknowledge that none of them were forced to join. But tugging at their heart strings still kinda left a sour taste in my mouth. They were low on supply they've been fighting for god know how long, they have little to no intel about the strength of the enemy. I understand honor and all but there is a time and a place.
@FearOfFacts good point. Never was much of a story maker hahaha. I'm just upset his team died not for the mission but for revenge. Maybe shit just went side ways and that they made every good possible move and still ended up where they are.
Imo wasn't really Skifs fault. Remember that the team he went in with was the backup for the main group. Easy to assume that they went in to try to find them, and he just joined.
Fun fact, they’ve been to probably 4 of the tarkov maps already ;) I think this one was shoreline near road to and customs, however, he started in customs dorms and the password was at the road to customs bunker road area

Then the scavs arrive and attack both, so they work together.

he didnt get hit in the woods and before because the group chasing him are just SCAVs, which are basically just armed plebs who run around grabbing everything they can. theyre not trained like the other 2 factions
in the lore, tarkov was hit by an EMP, so i doubt there are any working vehicles in the zone
So basically this is one (the? - we don't know much right now) take of how your character in EFT actually lands in Tarkov and why and how he has to escape.
The current Quest and Trader system is only the "side"-quests and the mechanical part of the game.
There will be a story with around 100 missions, that takes your through the game to "escape" and the current stuff is only the gameplay system around that story to test.
This offers an Entry Point how our "BEAR" PMC Skiff and our "USEC" PMC let's call him Shotty actually land as a PMC in the Zone of Tarkov and why they can't use the normal PMC Exfill's for BEAR as well as USEC, since they are not "Commanding Officers" and don't have the Passphrases to get out, since the Zone is locked down only special people can exfil.
Sailor (Skiff's Captain) and Serb (Captain Backup Team - "Sniper") probably could have gotten them exfiltrated at the Port Area, but Skiff as a normal PMC probably has no standing with the Military that guards the Tarkov border.
Unfortuntely Ep. 5 will be a long way off due to Corona as well as the usual production time it takes to be released in general.

You asked in this video or in a previous one (I had to go back to any of the reactions to give the information, so i can't remember which episode it was you asked) if they are trained military or having military personnel present. I stumbled upon a ''behind the scenes'' of Raid, on youtube it goes by the name; ''Escape from Tarkov. Making of the Raid series.'' and at 2:05 in that video you can see a masked guy giving direction or pointing at something. If I'm not completely wrong, spec ops guys tend to cover their faces if they're active personnel so they can't be recognized, so it looks like they're having some professional help. I might be wrong idk, it was just the first thought that popped up in my head when i saw it.

The men chasing the duo near the beginning were scavs (not part of a PMC group) and so the two rival PMC's (One BEAR and one U.S.E.C) decided to team up for better chances at survival.
most of the time they are using AK 74 customed with bulgarian flash hider, zenit rail and zenit or texas weapon system top cover, pistol grips, srvv side folding trunion you also can see in some scene a traumax extended charged handle with krebs extended safety, the sniper is using an SV-98 complitely customised and the spotter is using what seems to me an AK 74 u, i hope this was helpful.
The guy he went to talk to fits as one of the "traders" in the game. Which we use in game to Buy/sell supplies. And they give us quest.
I think you didn't get it at 7:18, the guy who drank water was the same guy who had fist fight with the BEAR in in locker room trying to kill each other.

The Tarkov City is Blocked by Russia. And PMC EXFIL is the Outpost, the Russian Military Protected.
BEAR's is just one of Russian PMC. They just run out their mission time. Military Password is changed. So they not allow to let him pass(Because he keep saying old password).

I’ve never played the game but because of this series I ordered the BEAR shirt, hat, and patches.
As a Russian, I am pleased to hear kind words in the direction of the creativity of my compatriots, and at the same time I am sad that Reid will not be noticed by major Russian film campaigns and that bad fantasy, not funny comedies and a lot of different shit will continue to be filmed here.
At the same time, the people working on Reid deserve special thanks and I advise you to watch a documentary about how all these episodes were filmed: professional instructors, pyrotechnics, and so on.
P.s. There are two languages in Russia: Russian and Russian obscene language. And few people know how to speak both languages correctly, and even more so to shoot films so that they are in all their glory. But Reid did it !!!

Usually they release the next episodes a few months after the last episode. If you look at when all the other episodes were released you can sort of get an idea

They could have made this easier to follow with one word. If the USEC guy leans over right after patching up Skif and says "English?", people would know he was USEC. Skif either nods and USEC guy says he will take over in 2 hours in English or Skif shakes his head no and USEC guys says it in Russian.

4 is verry different indeed but I like the more story driven component. Action only gets you that far.

I was wondering if someone was gonna mention that this guy really persuaded all of his teammates (tho they were in agreeance they were kinda informed about the decision making them want to do it) and now they all died except for him lol
