I paid $199 at Wally World in July of 2017. Since I have purchased it I have put many a hour on it and it takes a beating and keeps on rocking.

I’m thinking of getting one of these. I have the mini and I love it. I even used it kayaking and it did just fine and even floated.
I’m not sure how AL does it, but starting back with their “In Motion” speaker docks, they get amazingly nice bass out of such small units. Love it. I had an IM9 that was about the size of a large book - It could fill a good sized room with full sound.

Not very rugged actually. Mine had a rattle after 2 months of shop use with no drops. It is easily the loudest in the price range but at that maximum volume I get less than 5 hours out of the 3 2000mah 18650s. FYI if you need to take this apart be sure you get all 6 screws. 3 of which you have to pull the speaker screen which isn't glued or screwed in place although it feels like it is.
Very important what kind of batteries they are using in these units.i have had 3....one,batteries died in 5 months..2 had crappy Bluetooth range...the one I have now...Sony srs-xb30...works good,sometimes blue tooth a little flaky...so we have a six foot cord I connect straight from unit to iPad,my ham or cb radios,.great sound though...always looking for newer tech...see what happens with this unit, thanks for info..
My wife bought mine from tjmaxx last year when the bass hits the highs down out and its not loud at all its horrible actually I have a flip 4 and a beatspill and they are much better but this lifejacket could be better if it didnt dim out. There is something rattling in it and I have never dropped it. It's still under warranty does anyone else have this problem? TIA.

Just picked this up on sale for $100 bucks at Target. I was gonna get the Lifejacket 3 for $100 at Walmart but might as well get an upgrade for the same price. I’ve been seeing a lot of people complain about the sound though. I use a cheap little $30 Philips speaker and I work in a loud machine shop and can barely hear it when I walk away a few feet from my machine. So, all I really need is a much louder speaker and I’m 100% certain that this will get the job done when I take it to work tomorrow.
Great speaker, could use just a tad bit more treble. I really like mine and it is tough as nails and does not give me listener fatigue. Great in the shop.
breakerbroke23 damn, the speaker finally started giving me some issues. It’s not charging properly, so I’m gonna send it to Altec and get a replacement. Although, I believe I’m just going to take it back to Target assuming the one Altec sends me is in a new box and just get a different kind of speaker. I’m thinking a JBL charge or something like that. It’s a shame, I really wanted this speaker to work out for me and I was real careful with it and didn’t have many issues with my other Altec products. I just don’t want to send multiple speakers back and forth until
I eventually get the right one.
I had a older smaller model, got this one today out of the box it sounded distorted like speaker was blown out of package going to swap it out see if I have a different result
Defective right out of the box, But, it happens. When you buy something and bring it home you want it to work. That frigg'n sucks
breakerbroke23 yeah got it at Walmart on sale for 154, they had one left going to try to swap them out. If I get same result might try sending it to Altec. So you didn't experience that at all at full volume?
No problems at all with mine. I use it in my shop all the time. I play the shit out of it, and it rocks on. Its fallen on the floor and been immersed in water for long periods of time.

that version isn't the biggest they have a super lifejacket s thats bigger but the buttons don't light up
My store didn't have the larger model, so I didn't find out till later on, do you have one?
I bought the Lifejacket XL Jolt last week and it worked great. Now when I try to pair it to my IPhone, it won’t pair. I get an error message saying failed.
It does pair to my wife’s IPhone. Very frustrating.
Any suggestions?
I wish I could help, I know Jack nothing bout IPhones. Could be a phone setting... Could be the XL?
Call tech support if not just return it and try another one.

Maybe try going to your Bluetooth settings and tap on the device name and try pressing “forget device” then, try repairing it
I had the same issue with the H2O 3.
I cleared the issue by holding in the power and volume up (+) button simultaneously until I heard it beep. Then it paired to multiple devices with no problem. Couldn't find that documented anywhere, just tried some things and that worked!
Turn off your wife's bluetooth and try again. If that doesn't work try to go into bluetooth settings on your phone, forget device and pair it again.
*caution* DC in plug in is fragile.. either leave cord in all the time like i do or be very careful when using it .. over time they break

I have the medium sized one i think. Same color. The only thing i dont like is you cant listen to music if its not fully charged. It just turns off.
Mine started that last year as well. Now it just plain does not work.. :(

How's the rumble bass? Like can it get low?
No rumble type bass, but it does have a good mid bass. It will try to produce low end. But it is what it is, small speaker. I was using it yesterday in my shop, fills the shop just fine. highs are not overdone, not to bass heavy. Just a good everyday spkr, no listener fatigue. Thanks for watching.... BB23
This speaker is amazing bass is excellent shakes my phone while using its wireless charging base and easily goes up to 60 ft and you can still hear the sound used it in party in it it just fine louder then my Bose soundlink lll

I went to target and saw that speaker.. and it sounded louder than the 300 dollar jbl xtreme 2!

The Altec is not a bass monster, has enough power to fill a room.
I used to love it. But now that I compare it with my jbl flip 5 it's difference between day and night.
Yea..... Mine is TOAST. The JBLs do sound better:)
What’s louder? Jbl flip 5 or this? I ordered a flip 5 not long ago and i just used my friends wich is this. I wanna put it on my snowmobile but wanna know what louder
