We break down what you should inspect and look for when considering purchasing a new piece of equipment. Specifically a dozer in this video but it can be applied to many different types.
No you covered most of it pretty good. I didn't see you check the track rail bushings. Were they ride on the sprocket. Wear on the front idler. The thickness. Oil leaks under the drive train rear ends. Also your blade angle bushings. How well greased or if any slack in all 6 angles. Track tension seemed loose. How is that track barrel. I would have most likely checked air cleaner. At times that is a daily clean. You know by looking if operator took care of his ride. Did heater snd a/c work. Was muffler patched at all. Recomended full service records. Where complete fluid changes followed on hours. Transmission same prices to repair as motor. Change oil in it also. Is hydraulic system separate. Are there any clutch plates requiring different trans or hydraulic oil. That is about it.
Grousers are important but I'd rate rails above them in terms of criticality on undercarriage condition. Grousers can very easily be built up - rails not so much. When I look at undercarriage, I don't pay much attention to grouser wear - just in passing for whether the pads have been replaced or the grousers built up.
Man I thought I did touch on rails in regards to the new paint and limited wear. I even thought I had some footage showing the condition of the bushings but maybe I missed it in editing. I appreciate the feedback and yes I absolutely agree with you.
I have a machine exactly like this one except mine does not have the cab. Just went through a Low Fuel Pressure error which after 4 days of JD service resulted in finding the injectors were leaking by causing more fuel to bypass than the electric low pressure fuel pump could supply. My machine is a 2015 with 3800 hours, new rails, pads, idlers ,and front idlers. Now new injectors., There is a way to lock the brakes and load the engine without the machine moving, not sure exactly but the service man went into the settings and this allowed him to put a large load on the machine without moving it.
Excellent walk through 😊 on what to look for on buying a USED Dozer.
Thanks for a great tutorial on purchasing used equipment. Thanks, TW.
thanks for sharing your knowledge, best of luck on the new used machine, sure looks like a nice one to me.
Great video, thanks for sharing!

Always wonder when looking at anything ,why all fluids and filters have been changed??? Lol

How much did the injectors set you back?
@@DigDeepOutdoors Waiting on the bill but expect it to be around 8k
That blow by tube may be plugged
You are exactly right. It was the Blowby filter but we failed to mention the tubes getting plugged
