  • In today's vlog we start our Hurricane Dorian storm prep at the house. We also left some links below for charities that are helping the Bahamas directly, please check them out. We will be donating as much as we can to help with the catastrophic damage that occurred because of Hurricane Dorian. Then we start a little more work in the nursery, we're about 99% done at this point and we can't wait to show you the final nursery walk through! We're both so excited for the baby to come, just a couple more months now! Then we have a couple of hauls, one where we show you what Stephie and Dave got us when they were here a couple months ago and one from the D23 trip. We do a little more storm updating, we didn't get really any severe weather and we're just so thankful that nothing was damaged and we were safe and sound here in Orlando. We make a quick dinner and then we cut to the next day where we show you some of the wind we're experiencing and we also caught some clips of the baby moving!! It was so cool to see! But all in all this was a pretty uneventful hurricane vlog, we just wanted to give you an idea of what it was like in Orlando during this time. We also hope you enjoyed the updated look at the nursery! Thank you so much for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

    You’ll want black out curtains for the baby to nap and sleep in in the morning. Though it does look really nice and clean now.

      @Nimeariel Před 5 lety

      Even growing up in CT, I used to HATE having to go to bed when it was still light out during the summer months at 7-8pm, even as a young child. Now that I'm grown up and living in SC, and have the ability to realize that sometimes naps are good for me, I still dislike being able to see light peeking through the shades. I agree with blackout curtains!!

    • @TheTimTracker
      @TheTimTracker  Před 5 lety +3

      @Nimeariel Před 5 lety

      @@TheTimTracker This is very true! I am a very light sleeper, but my husband can sleep through anything. Sometimes I wish I could be like him- he can sleep anywhere, any time. So maybe you're on to something! I guess it will just depend on what the baby prefers. I used to sleep with a night light as a child but only recently did having lights on bother me. I still don't like sunshine, though, unless I'm just that tired.

    • @WaltKristiWorld
      @WaltKristiWorld Před 5 lety

      @@TheTimTracker people do it both ways. I don't have blackout curtains, but ours are very thick and block most of the light. She does nap good in there (7.5 months now), BUT now she won't nap longer than 30 minutes anywhere else! She HAS to have a dark room to sleep well. So it's kind of a catch 22. I almost wish I hadn't done dark curtains so she would sleep better without them 🤷‍♀️Also, the day/night confusion seems to not be an issue after the first few weeks? That's just what I was told. I didn't start using dark curtains until like 8 weeks ish? She'd sleep in broad daylight before then! I kinda miss those days cause I could sneak cute little pictures of her while she was sleepin.

    Blackout curtains for sure!!!!!! It’s something I wish I’d had from the beginning. It makes map time easier. Also, my son is now 4 but it makes it easier for him to fall asleep when it’s still light outside..... and most importantly sleep in on weekends when it gets light out super early.

      Melissa Eaton I was going to say the same thing! Especially in the Florida sun, the blinds are NOT enough to block out enough light and it can help to keep in cooler in there.

      Nichole Bird my kid is in my room (one bedroom apartment) with the tv on all the time and sunlight or lamp light in the room constantly. Sleeps fine as long as he’s not hungry or gassy. It just teaches them to be dependent on the blinds and darkness. My mom didn’t do that with any of her 5 children and we all slept just fine except for a few months with my brother after his autism got severe.

    I just love how incredibly excited you both are about all baby things! The nursery is adorable and perfect! You will absolutely want curtains or Roman shades that are room darkening....naps are easier with them and convincing children it’s bed time when it’s still light out :) you are going to be amazing parents 💕💕💕 we are so excited for you!

    Everything is PERFECT!!!!!! But from a momma who had a baby girl who seriously hated sleep - you’ll want something to block the sunlight. Either blackout curtains or those rolling blackout shades behind your blinds. Those are a LIFESAVER!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ you guys so so SO much and cannot wait to “meet” tiny Tracker!!

    This is the stinking cutest. Watching those belly movements reminded me of my own moments with my daughter. You guy deserve this little one so much, he is already so loved.
    The nursery is absolutely amazing just the way it is, no curtains necessary. In my experience, our daughter slept fine in her room with no darkening curtains. We also had her nap in our living room in a packnplay under a window, and the brightness never seemed to bother her.
    If you choose to put up curtains, do so out of decor, not because you feel obligated to. ❤️

    Yes on black out curtains!! They help with naps tremendously. They also help baby sleep longer in the morning. Just open them while baby is awake and close them just for sleep. Keeping the room bright during awake times and dark during sleep times REALLY helps get baby on a sleeping schedule. My kiddo is almost 4 and we still use black out curtains. They saved our sleep and sanity!

    I’m taking a child’s lit class and one of the “textbooks” is The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. And I’ve only gotten a few chapters in but it’s amazing and I think you guys would like it. It’s even talks about how reading aloud in one’s third trimester is really beneficial and continuing to do so has a lot of good thing and binding moments
