    yeah, she sure is great. It seems to me she put together great natural ability with very smart thinking. as example, against the girl slicer, she took her time, softly returning shots, inviting her opponent to start attacking. As soon as her opponent did that she had her right were she wanted her. The slicer could not possibly keep up using attacking shots to win points against Zhang. If Miu could ever play as smart as Zhang, she might have a chance at being the best.

    Zhang Yi Ning is definitely a very good TT player but to label her as the greatest ever is more than farfetched. Many great female players from China and it is very difficult to pinpoint who is better because we cannot manipulate time. To name a few, one of Zhang's contemporary, Wang Nan, if not better than Zhang, Wang was the better player in the early stage of their careers. They all happened in the 40 mm ball and 11 points era which is different from the original game.
    As we go further back in time, a prime Deng Ya Ping was almost unbeatable. Can we recall Cao Yan Hua from the early 1980s? Cao was runner-up to Tong Ling for the 1981 WTTC Single Championship. However, Cao lost because she was instructed by coaches to lose to Tong. For the next 2 WTTC tournaments, Cao won both 1983 and 1985 WTTC Single titles. Also, not many players that can win the Chinese TT Championship 2 years in a row. Cao Yan Hua was one of them. Afterward, Cao was unofficially forced to leave the National Team due to personal conflicts with the coaching staff. She was only 23 years old.
    If I have to pick the female GOAT of Table Tennis, it got to be Cao Yan Hua.

    • @benthekeeshond545
      @benthekeeshond545 Před 5 lety +1

      By ignoring Deng Ya Ping, your conclusion contradicted what you mentioned before. Deng Ya Ping was just as dominant or more than Zhang Yi Ning was during the peak of their careers. Deng Ya Ping was the unquestionable #1 for many years. In the early stage of Zhang Yi Ling's career, Wang Nan was the better player.
      If there is a female GOAT of Table Tennis, it is Cao Yan Hua. Anybody don't know much about Cao Yan Hua, I can tell you a few of her accomplishments in TT here. Cao was the WTTC Women Single Champion in 1983 and 1985. At about 19 years old, she was the designated WTTC runner-up in 1981 by her unbiased or impartial group of national coaches. The same bunch of clowns forced Cao Yan Hua to retire from TT at a tender age of 23.

      @@benthekeeshond545 No, no, I'm not ignoring Deng Ya Ping. I just think they didn't play at the exact same time. She was probably as dominant as Zhang Yining, but it's hard to see her above. At best a draw IMO. As for Cao Yan Hua, I don't know her, so you might completely be right. And when I read she was forced to leave at 23, it makes me sad and a bit angry to be honest. I would say the worst thing about the chinese players are definitely the way national coaches managed their team.

      @@Raphael-jo1rp
      It is vigorously tough to determine who's better from different eras. There were many other great female players in the history of TT. I am glad that you spent the time to investigate a bit about Cao Yan Hua. Cao Yan Hua is definitely one of the explicit standouts within this group of elite champions. If I am correct, Cao first appeared at the 1979 WTTC tournament. She did very well and from what I heard, she was told to lose to other Chinese players. The same thing happened in 1981 at the final. Tong Ling was picked to win against Cao. 1983 was different because all of the Chinese women players were defeated, including Tong Ling. Cao Yan Hua, the often neglected girl, was handed the task to win the WTTC Female Single Title. Of course, Cao won handily in the final, three games to one. Cao Yan Hua also did the same thing at 2 Asian Games. This young and beautiful lady, Cao, left no doubt that she was one of the best ever in international competitions. At the National Level, I believe Cao also compiled the best W/L record inside China within that 5 years period.
      One more reason to pick Cao as the GOAT is how this lady performs under pressure. Great as Chinese TT is, we should notice that once one or two of their top players lost, the rest of them fell like dominos. Even among the many TT champions from China, only a few can buck the trend of losing. Jiang Jia Liang was one of them. From the lady side, Cao Yan Hua was definitely the most clutch player there is. Also, Xu Xin is a disciple of Coach Cao Yan Hua.

      I think Deng left the national team on her own terms. She left because she was losing to her compatriots. This is natural, age and upcoming players. After winning 3 WTTC single titles in 8 years, Deng is one of the best ever. But there is no way that the best players can play against each other from different eras. It is hard to pick one best player out of so many champions. But if we have to, Cao Yan Hua is definitely above all other WTTC champions. Cao appeared in the 1979 WTTC Championship games as a 17-year-old teenager. She did extraordinary well in single events and was told by her impartial coaches to lose to another Chinese player. In 1981 WTTC, Cao Yan Hua got to the final and again was instructed by her unbiased coaches to lose to Tong Ling. 1983 WTTC, all Chinese woman players succumbed to defeats. With no obstructions from her noble coaches, Cao went on to win her 1st WTTC Singles Title. She won the 1985 WTTC Single again. In the same year 1985, however, Cao Yan Hua was indirectly "FORCED" to leave the Chinese National Team. Cao Yan Hua was only 23 years old.
      If interested, go to Wiki and search for Cao Yan Hua. Cao was practically unbeatable inside or outside of China for 7 years.

      Yes! Cao Yan Hua was a pen-holder. She specialized in looping, fast loop-drives or slow and spinny loops. Cao was also exceptionally great with her serves. The high toss serve from the forehand side is/was common but Cao also served high-toss from her backhand side. Cao was an all-out offensive player and being a pen-holder, she had great footwork. However, Cao also possessed incredible defensive skills. Over Cao's great shortened career, she triumphed over the best offensive players by reversing to a defensive posture. She didn't have to initiate attacks or take the first strike and took down her opponents. If we have to pick a GOAT for female Table Tennis, it is Cao Yan Hua.

      It is an open secret that pen-hold players' backhand is a weakness. Especially the Japanese penholders. The last great Japanese penholders were Mitsuru Kohno and Seiji Ono. Both won the world singles. The main reason was that both were tremendous attackers and would execute kill-shots than play long rallies. Kohno has a lethal backhand. Since then, the Koreans became better than the Japanese J-pen players. But the Koreans love to play long rallies and therefore were massacred by the shakehand players.
