  • With a population of over seven million and about 1,100 square kilometres of land - of which only a quarter is classified as residential - Hong Kong has been dealing with housing issues for decades. Sky-high rent, cage homes, and an average waiting time of 5.3 years for public housing are regularly seen in headlines of local and international media organisations.
To help alleviate the public’s growing housing concerns, the HKSAR government has developed a variety of initiatives that aim to increase the city’s overall area and make use of undeveloped land. These include:
    - The Lantau Tomorrow Vision
    - “Light public housing” plans in Kai Tak and other areas across Hong Kong
    - The Northern Metropolis Development Strategy
    - Reclaiming portions of the Fanling golf course for additional public housing
Join us for a panel consisting of three Legislative Council members and the Deputy Director of the Society for Community Organisation who will share their insights into how the HKSAR government can address the city’s housing issues and more. Moderated by FCC First Vice President Jennifer Jett.
