    Wow, you have some serious patience to accomplish that task. I would have used my entire vocabulary of filthy words, threw a tantrum on the floor, broke out the roll away and threw every tool I owned at that truck. Makes me wonder when I will have to face this. Sure love the instant power of these motors though.

    6 bolts, 3 hoses and out comes the battery box and radiator overflow reservoir for large handed people like me. The plus is a clear sight of that Exhaust Backpressure Sensor that tube that will make you spend a fortune figuring out your 6.4's loss of power.

      They run great when taken care of properly. A pain to work on but in my opinion they are great motors

    • @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet
      @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet Před 3 lety +1

      As Andrew stated, the motors aren't junk by any stretch of the imagination. The 3 things that will indeed kill these things in a hurry are.....
      Lack of maintenance
      Emissions
      Throwing a 300hp tune on with no supporting mods and driving it like a 16 year old kid in a honda civic with a wing and 12 inch fart pipe.
      Emissions gots to go..... IMMEDIATELY
      Maintenance (mainly fuel) will save you $10k+ catastrophe
      I'll take a K16 pump over a CP4 any day of the week though.
      Run a good fuel additive as well. I've not had a failure with either of my K16's running motorcraft, and I run hotshots secret EDT when I can pick it up on sale.
      Oil changes are important, especially with emissions on.
      I barely trust 5k mile intervals using Rotella TY with the emissions still live.
      I change mine at 5k religiously without emissions.
      Blackstone reports I've done show I can go well past 10k, but I have trust issues.
      Anyhow, I still enjoy my 6.4's over 10 years later. Delete, Monitor, Maintain, and be realistic on the tuning and driving style. While I say that...... I don't mean baby it and use it to grocery get and back. That's not good on any modern diesel either.
      Anyhow..... Didn't mean to type so much...... Y'all take care 👍

    I’ve got an 08 6.4 the green wrench will come on on long highway trips the go off when truck cools. I can’t get a code off of it. I know for sure my Tstat is stuck open. My deltas at 70 mph for an hour or so are averaging 18-20 with no green wrench. Oil cooler changeout? Like I said no codes and don’t take any long trips just around town to work and back mostly. Thanks in advance!

    Great video. I have a 08 550 with the 6.4. My temperature gauge barely moves if any during normal driving. Hook the dump trailer up and pull a load and it’ll move up a little bit. No lights on. Could this be the thermostat or what’s your opinion? Thank you.

  • @andyw3302
    @andyw3302 Před 4 lety +1

    Thx for this video...almost had it in but after inserting and removing multiple times trying to get the flange and thermostat housing bolt "half holes" to line up, the flange is now firmly cockeyed onto the housing and won't go either way. I am so angry I am not sure I could ever purchase a Ford product again. Proceeding to remove the EGR cooler now...and of course it has some kind of bizzare bolt on in. Engineers at Ford are sadists. Screw them.

    So upper radiator hose is hot and the bottom radiator hose is cold, top end of the motors been rebuilt along with new radiator, water pump, and clutch fan but still having an overheating issue with my ‘08 6.4 with 110k miles on it, could there be an air pocket somewhere and is there a coolant drain plug to see about purging the air out of the cooling system?

      @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod  Před 3 lety

      None, you follow the video, shld come right out.....do em all the time. Now dont go a hackin'....

    • @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet
      @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet Před 3 lety +1

      If the coolers and egr aren't present..... The job becomes roughly 300% easier. The Truck will thank it's owner as well..... no longer will it have to re-breathe it's own farts. (In layman's terms)
      Just throwing that out there. 🤣
      Is that considered cheating/hacking?
      Guilty I suppose.
      It's a tedious process for sure with emissions on. I think they simply Crammed everything they could think of, whether necessary or not, into that compartment. It was the successful transition into non DIY friendly. Lol!
      I digress....
      Take care y'all

    is this whats causing me to go into "limp mode"? (reduced engine power) after it warms up in about 15 miles?

    • @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
      @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod  Před 3 lety +1

      MOST likely NOT...

    • @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet
      @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet Před 3 lety +1

      P0128 code has never caused limp mode in my experience. It could be a compound of issues however.
      Trans Temp on the other hand, will throw it into limp and keep the truck from shifting out of 3rd. They're notorious for it. Did you have it scanned and figure it out?

    • @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
      @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod  Před 3 lety

      @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod good afternoon. My 6.4l f550 is overheating only when driving. Idling it runs cool. Never overheats. I changed both thermostats bc coolant is not circulating. Any ideas of what else it could be?
