Risky Active Volcano Hiking in Guatemala!!🇬🇹(Acatenango)

- How difficult is it to hike Acatenango? One of the highest volcanoes in Central America, almost 4000 meters high which is also still active!!
It is generally considered a hard hike but personally it was one of the worst moments of my life haha!!
I suffered literally every moment during the hike but I don't represent any of my friends who all completed the hike without complaints!
My problem was that for the last 7 days before that hike, I was sick with fever, diarrhea and I had barely eaten anything.My first meal of the week was literally during the hike's first stop!
I was constantly struggling to breath, I could barely move my legs and the altitude had affected me hard.I don't need to talk about my joint and muscle aches, ahah.I'm not exaggerating guys haha I was completely destroyed!
Reggaeton Music was my motivation and I truly believe that if I wasn't vlogging the whole experience I couldn't have finished the hike! Thinking of the video and filming it played a role in distracting me from my reality at those moments.
However, the moment I reached the top and saw the Fuego volcano erupting in front of my eyes, all the pain, dizziness and fatigue magically disappeared !!
The overnight hike to Acatenango Volcano is a unique life experience that everyone visiting Guatemala should consider doing !! Just better don't try it if you are sick the day before ha !!
** Because my last hike was 6 years ago and because I don't do any sport at the moment, after this hike, it took me 6 days to be able to walk properly again !! But honestly that was just with me !! All my other friends you see in this video (men+women) they were all fine during the hike and the next day after we had completed it!

I did this climb with my husband and two kids(ages 19, 21.) This is a grueling hike and to add insult to injury, the backpack weighs about 30 lb. We had to stop several times and it took about 6 hours. It is not for the faint of heart but once you're at the top it's spectacular.
Whats in the back that you need to carry with you? Im interested in doing this hike sometime but im afraid its too difficult for me? Im fairly fit tho.. and where did you book this hike?
@@futurism7131 We booked this hike at Wicho and Charlie's. This company is in Antigua, Guatemala. The backpack carries extra clothing, hiking gear, food and water.
@@futurism7131 You need to be fit for this hike and be in good health. It will take between 4 and 6 hours to climb a very steep incline.

What was the temperature like hiking towards the camp (so not át the camp)
@@futurism7131 We rented back packs from Wicho and Charlie's and they had one size. I don't know what size it was, large I guess.
