- Thieves are always thinking of new ways to steal money and now a Las Vegas man who almost became a victim of one is fighting back to expose scammers. "It makes me very angry and that's why I let this go as far as it did," Bruce Allan who only wanted us to use part of his name explained. He is calling out the people who he said tried to scam him.
I think it's time now to just assume everyone is a scammer. Every call. Every good "deal" or "offer." We must protect ourselves!
I have it where only my contacts ring my phone... It'd be ringing all day long with scammer calls. I ignore them and hang up if I happen to answer.
@@mmhthree I like scammer calls. It's so easy to piss them off 😂😂😂. I think they know me now and don't call anymore 😒
I used to remind my parents when I visited them before they passed away, everybody who contacts you, wants your money. That is mostly true for the elderly. The amount of contacts they received increased as they got older from people who wanted something from them
Include government to the scammers list.
I got a door knocker offering meat that he couldn't sell. He wanted a check$ or cash CAREFUL 😬
This is why o don't answer numbers I don't know. If it's important you'll leave a message and I'll call back.
💯
Exactly!!
He knows Nevada Energy doesn’t call ~ Karen’s doing Karen activities lol
You can even setup your phone where only your contacts ring your phone... so, no ringing all day either!! I love it. Look on youtube to find a tutorial how to do it, if you need help.
@@mmhthreeThanks I've resisted doing that for fear I'll miss an important call, but im getting about 4-6 calls a day now.
I'll just need to make it a part of my routine to check for voicemails throughout the day 🫤
"Bayne" and others like him are becoming the BANE of society! Congratulations to this gentleman for doing his due diligence and not getting scammed.
He was probably watching Batman before speaking with the gentleman.
They would have NOT given him a line of credit, they would have cleaned out his bank account, put a lien on his property with shady business practices,or did something illegal.
Never answer your phone if you don’t know the number and never ever click on messages
Well duh! Aren't you smart🤦🏾♂
When you click on messages, you open up what is called TROJAN HORSES that ends up getting into your banking and fast food apps such as McDonald’s and the scammers steal money from your bank accounts and credit or debit cards.
Thank you I agree 💛
When you click on messages, you receive TROJAN HORSES which hijack your device, stealing money from your banking apps and restaurant apps such as McDonald’s.
Yep. If they're really trying to contact you they'll call again and leave a voice mail.
Never do business with an unsolicited caller. The reason we keep getting inundated with phone calls from telemarketers is because they find it profitable. Once business dries up, the telemarketing calls will stop.
Preying on seniors.
Thats a common misconception. Scammers don't care who they target they only care about getting money, nothing else. People of all ages have been successfully scammed.
This guy is savvy - he gets a second opinion.
But he wasn't savvy enough to keep some rando from not coming to his home. The next type of scams will be people coming to your home pretending to inspect your AC, but they are scoping out your security to see if they can come back to steal some stuff.
@@Mercenary-1914 A few scammers have tried to get into my elderly mothers home by offering “free” house cleaning, “free” carpet cleaning, “free” air duct inspection and cleaning, a “free” energy conservation evaluation, etc… One guy tried just last week. She hasn’t let anyone in because I keep telling her to not let ANYONE in the house. She has been talking with them though. I’ve told her to not even do that.
@Mercenary-1914 I thought the scam was going to be they come in to check the AC & "find it's broken" or in need of repair (after intentionally subotaging or breaking it), forcing the owner to feel it needs fixing & to use their service since "they're already here & can give a discount" supposedly.
Sort of, savy would be never answering the call in the first place.
Second opinion was not needed but in "mature age" (I'm there too) you don't trust yourself.
So the real opinion cost him $100 which is far better vs. $40K from the "first opinion."
If someone contacts you in anyway, it's a scam. Just say no. If they persist, call the police. I'm stunned how far these scammers even get.
you shouldn't be stunned….people who are truly good at heart, simply can't imagine someone having unnatural evil intentions so they automatically trust people. its awful because it ruins the hearts of good people
They are lonely
@@brunofalcon4645Unfortunately, it's no longer a society where people feel shamed when an old man tells them, "You need to stop this. It's just not right."
😞
@@brunofalcon4645No man(or woman) is _"good"._ (Mark 10:18/ Romans 3:10-12/Matthew 19:17)

@@brunofalcon4645 Don’t patronize good-hearted people by lumping ignorant people in with them. It’s 2024. People should know better.
Sir, thank you for speaking up. Too many of us stay silent. You may have saved someone from a headache they did not deserve. These heartless scammers take more than our money , they take our faith and security.
Because he doesn’t know Nevada energy doesn’t call anybody. Oh my he’s doing his duty as an American. Lol nobody picks up phone numbers they don’t know, just like he knows Nevada energy doesn’t call you. Lol when you got no life ~ you think you should investigate random calls lol
If I didn't call YOU first, and you have the gall to show up to my house with a scam...have your affairs in order.
I like that approach.,.......just fine. Goes with my method. " I leave my doors unlocked,....I like to encourage intruders"
@@5664788you would definitely be found guilty of murder.
Treat everything like a scam until proven otherwise.
thank you
That is certainly my motto. A bit stronger than “trust, but verify!”
That sums it up!
Don't pick up your phone unless you know the number. Let them leave a message, then maybe ask a family member to review the message if it sounds sketchy.
This old fart knows Nevada energy doesn’t call anyone, he’s looking for attention lol ~ he’s just a social justice warrior lol ~ don’t go falling in love with an internet picture you’re never met now lol ~ he thinks he’s going to clean up the city lol sure …..
So if the incoming call on your phone tells you it is the financial institution where you have your account, you will pick up the call? You're a potential victim.
Right. The called can be a spoof call. Don't pickup at all,
@@shaggydawg5419 I have NEVER had any of my financial institutions call me. They contact me via secure message. Same like IRS won't call you and threaten you, nor will the police call you asking for money for grandson's bail.
The 1 rule of good DEALS! They NEVER come to you, you need to find them. That is always the game ever since the birth of deals.
"you need to stop this, it's just not right"...that'll do it! I bet these scammer stop tomorrow!
"BRUCE ALLEN, who only wanted us to use part of his name"
🤨
I can tell they’re a scammer if they’re actually calling…
Right, it's so easy.
AND because they don't leave messages, you KNOW they're scammers!
Not necessarily correct. It can be legitimate calls too but I ignore all of them including legit calls. I only answer friends/family calls.
GOOD ONE!!
@@shaggydawg5419 Have to watch them too nowadays.
“You need to stop this. This is not right.” yeah like that going to deter scammers.
This is really simple. NEVER interact with incoming text, email, phone calls. PERIOD.
spoof call
Lmao Bayne, homie thought grandpa never watched Batman.
Grandpa let Bayne on the roof, so no
I never deal with cold-callers for anything. I know scammers are getting really creative, but if more people just refused to talk with cold-calling sales reps, there'd be a lot fewer victims.
Yeah I don’t understand why anyone actually answers their phone for ANY reason if it’s an unrecognized number! The lowlifes have ruined the phone the same way they ruined email and checks.
Solar panels vendors at your door, getting angry when they do not get the information or signature they looking for, Pretty suspicious !!
do not open your door to strangers!!
I rather be mean and be safe , than be nice and be in trouble !!
So when that salesman goes to hell, the devil will tell him so sorry the AC does not work. But can I interest you in a new Car Warranty?
No, here's the verse in the Bible. "Truly I tell you that people can be FORGIVEN of ALL SINS and every slander they utter." -Mark 3:28 NIV. Isn't god's system of justice just wonderful? Praise the Lord!
Lmao. I got the exact same call yesterday from a woman setting appointment for today and his name is Bayne from Ecco air
Tell them to come over and notify the police so they can catch him
Oooh missed opportunity!
Hi Bayne,..meet my shotgun
I love getting calls and e-mails from scammers because it means I can begin a new wave of endless prank calls until the scammers curse at and threaten me, then I can call them some more until they disconnect their number.
I've found that keeping a whistle close at hand is an effective deterrent.
Finally a good story about scammers that were shut down. Good for you Allen!
Bane= A source of harm or ruin. A curse.
The little demon's name is spelled Byane - however your pt. still resonates.
@@mikejohn0088*Bayne
Simple solution. Do not answer calls from people you do not know. If they leave a message, then check out who they are before you engage with them.
Exactly.
Competency is the greatest defense
"He said his name was Bayne... it's like Wayne but with a B", I like this Allen guy.
I don’t answer my phone unless I know the person who is calling, I block them and report them immediately, God bless this man stay safe 🙏♥️
Used to work. Now they just broadcast random local numbers.
When my car was stolen in NYC I went into the precinct and was told " fill out a form " . What are you going to do about it ? " Fill out a form " . Ditto when my wallet was stolen from the locked car , only " who got murdered " - they then laughed . My car was hit and run and I was almost run down . Answer " why don't you sue him " - ha , ha !!!
Well done! People like these scammers think older people are stupid but this guy is still as sharp as ever 😊
Thanks for courageously telling these people to Stop. Hopefully now scamming will come to an end.
That would have been pretty good, if this man had set up an appointment, and the guy shows up with the police they're waiting on him.
Thank you for sharing with us!
This is why I never answer my phone unless they are in my contacts.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ God bless this man... thanks to all those average citizens who look out after us in the public... this man is a great American Hero
That’s an awesome message, “That’s not right…” I’m sure that will deter the scammers.
The fact is that these scammers will NOT stop until they are caught and jailed as they stand to make tens of thousands of dollars just by successfully scamming 1 person. It’s easier, safer, and much more profitable for them than robbing a bank. Laws need to be revised to address these scams and make the penalties far worse than they currently are.
Well I’m GLAD his message to the scammers was “you need to stop this!”
I’m sure they completely stopped! Glad he said that!
I love when they call me, they just get a toxic tongue lol
"You need to stop diz. Is just ain't rite".
LOL, I'm sure the criminals are really scamming you because the thought of it being wrong has completely eluded them.
Reasons like this is why my phone is always in airplane mode at home and work.
The fact that he even allowed a stranger into his home is scary...this guy was a sitting duck
My sister made a mistake and opened the door because she assumed it was the company we just called. It wasnt.
These 2 guys dressed in construction outfits refused to leave a business card and kept insisting they talk to her. I came over gave a stern face and they left.
She’s very lucky they didn’t try to barge right in, pushing her away. Just keep an eye out for her place as they could have been there to scope it out . This gentleman was lucky himself they didn’t harm him , knowing he’s in a wheelchair.
Thank you. We grew up in big city and aware of this. She had work being done in her home that day and luckily there were also 2 male workers there that she know.
Why she let her guard down shocked me.
Thank you for sharing this story. This is getting ridiculous. I'm happy this man called for a 2nd opinion
FYI - Bayne sounds like "Bane," a FICTIONAL character in Superman/Batman comics! 😆
Scammers need to get a job! Fr!!!
Scammers aim to profit five digit payout for each scam. Big payout compared to small job pay.
"You need to stop this.."
Hell of a message. I'm sure that'll get 'em thinkin...
Here in N TX this happened to my sister from a reputable company called Milestone that advertises regularly on TV. Scumbags.
Scammers have no conscience! Get pictures of them. National papers and social media should expose them.
"Get pictures of them. National papers and social media should expose them." ---Bad Idea = you open yourself up for a law suit and you get screwed worse.
@@mikejohn0088 i would have no problem doing such a thing with various proofs.
In Las Vegas everyone is a hustler. I'm surprised people living there don't know it.
How to avoid most scams. Don't answer unknown phone numbers, if call is important they'll leave a message. Scammers usually don't leave a message to incriminate themselves.
The mistake here was picking up the phone in the first place
Smart guy. And thank you for exposing this new scam. 😊
Second time I’ve seen her in that sweater today. Love it. Those Daisys made me smile. ❤
AS FOR THE SCAMMERS…..don’t answer the phone and don’t answer the door for solicitors. If u answer the phone and they are trying to sell something…..hang up. If u wish to BUY something, do the research and call people yourself and ensure they are licensed and bonded for whatever work u seek help with.
The sweater.. right? I just want to know what the brand is, where did she get it?
I’m lucky to live in a building, no solicitation allowed. I don’t answer my phone if I don’t know the number. Leave a message if it’s important.
SO much compassion and empathy in these comments. "Human kindness. Overflowing. And I think it's going to rain today." ~ Randy Newman
Blame the banks and other businesses that share your phone number. This is why I hate giving them my phone number!
Especially those debts collectors. It's a scam too. If you owe money, they can garnish your wages.
Why would you even answer a phone call from someone you don't know? Just block them.
It's because of scammers I don't want a cell phone.
"You need to stop this..."
"Damn he's right" -scammers
Even the legit companies are shady. Always get a second opinion. To swap a hot water heater one quoted $2600 the other $1700.
Don't answer phone calls if you don't know the number. Don't answer the door if you don't know who it is. This guy did the right thing by getting a second opinion.
Good job for not falling for the scam. Trust your gut n go with it! Always get a second opinion!
"You have to stop this, this is just not right." --- well he put a fast stop to these thieves who I'm sure have repented and changed scams.
These people are heartless and we need to all do something about it
When I receive an unknown call, I remain silent. If the call is genuine, they will ID themselves and ask for me. If it is a scam they will hang up.
A Heating and AC company, referred to us by our official gas and electric tried to scam us into purchasing a new central air unit for 6,000.00. I called a family handyman and he got our existing unit running for $170.00. I'm in my 60"s and my parents are late 80's and mid 90's. I also got tired of the land line ringing all day long. We started playing with the callers until they got tired of us and hang-up.😅🎉
Lol
"We're part of an Energy Savings Program, we'll help you save money"
"That'll be $40,000 plz"
What’s crazy is I will randomly get scam callers asking for my father, saying things like this to offering health insurance to saying he has a financial complaint lodged against him.
He’s been dead for 4 years.
Its bad to get scammed, it worse when they target your dead family. I hate getting a call at 7 am being subjected to having to suddenly remember my dad is dead and reminded in a really shitty way too
Holy cow. Last week, two guys approached my door last week with the same type of offer. I said I was busy but to leave a business card and contact. Guess what no business cards and an ambiguous reason why. I usually don't open the door but broke my own rule. Anyways. With people that come to me I always ask for a contact. Basically handle it as if it were on line. I do.the.asking not them. Research 1st. Don't fall.for it.
We need to protect our elderly! My mom is 84 and she knows not to answer her phone unless it’s a voice she recognizes. If not I tell her if it’s important and they really want to reach you they will leave their name and number😉
Oh, these scammers don't care.
Wow! Very *_VERY_* powerful message there alan.
_Stop it_
Turn on your call block. Add your contacts to the exception list.
Disregard anyone else who calls.
Yeah, like they are really going to stop. As long as phones, computers, texting, email, door to door solicitation and the postal service exist and it’s profitable, it’s not going to end anytime soon. Thanks to people like this man getting the message out is the best hope for making people aware of these scams.
He doesn't know the scam & neither do you!!!! Great reporting!!! Really investigated it, huh??? 🤣🤣
I’ve done the same thing for over 30 years: “I don’t make any decisions like this without seeing the offer in writing. Send me a letter, and I’ll get back to you.”
Willing to go to any length except a legitimate job. These people should be jailed for life.
It's not a new scam. They were doing this to people in Sun City Az
You know what's the same in all these scams? People answer the phone. Never answer the phone, let it go to voice mail and call back if you need to.
They came to his house ?! Creepy!
Smart man! I don’t trust anyone anymore, including some of my family, lol!
Never should have let this person come to your house.
I never answer calls from unrecognized numbers.
Bayne...Bruce Wayne...lol
Bayne? That’s the name Tom Hardy used in the movie Batman Returns or something like that. 😂
😐 sounds like a great way to get some free dog food. Lol. Scammers taste exactly like sausage to guard dogs.
The guy in the wheelchair looks like a relatively famous actor, from several years ago.
Wow and no one ended up in a body bag ?!...
Posted this on Facebook. I post these every time I c them because I want people aware!
This lady actually ends with "never pay anyone in person at your property." Every single repairman or contractor I have ever used has been paid in person at my property. That's how they do business.
My concern is they try retaliating if you report them that’s why I don’t bother with them. I mean you’re dealing with criminals trying to prey on the weak.
Never answer the phone from unknown callers.
Wow, showed up at house! Scary!
Why would he let them and give him his address??
Call ID shows that it's from within my area code, yet they never leave a message, odds are they're more likely calling from far away country rather than a nearby county.
Don't answer the phone if you don't know the number.. You can't get scammed if you never talk to them. Tell your grandparents.
I have 239 blocked calls on my phone = I don't know the number you are blocked.
Careful when the robo-call asks, "Are you there?" NEVER answer yes. If anything, just repeat, hello.
