Very interesting alternative garden. Tires, if the plants are happy then you must be doing something right, personally I don't believe that there is any chance of chemicals released by the tires affecting your plants but that's just my opinion.
Yes, I've concerns and have researched and heard arguments for and against tires in the garden. I've heard that tires are made to withstand great heat and pressure and do not readily break down, that old tires will have leached any potential toxins already, and that tires are always a risk to the soil but I've found no solid research. It ends up being what a person is comfortable with. For me, this is a temporary solution for 1 or 2 growing seasons. I wouldn't use tires in the garden long term.
