The BH in Cobh uses the irish language pronunciation. a bh together makes a V sound - hence Cobh = Cove

The Irish language does not have the letters (j, k, q, v, w, x, y, z) so in Irish, we rely on letter combinations bh to make a V sound as in Cobh it’s pronounced as “Cove” which is the English spelling

it is not "how the locals pronounce it" it is how you pronounce it it is the Gaelic word for the English word Cove
