Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow is the GOAT to me because he’s the most irreplaceable player in the COD world. Talk about a well rounded player that’s able to keep you in situations where you thought it was over is insane to me. The most important moments in game he’s always came up in clutch in and that is personally more important to me. All he cared about was the win and he didn’t care if he had a .8 he always found a way to contribute and that’s more important than individual stats.

OpTic lost so many times to the complexity squad until they poached their star talent. Scump has always been a super consistent slayer but if you look at the times that Aches has been able to take out OpTic while teaming with less desirable squads it kinda shows that a huge part of scumps wins is the fact that he's had powerhouse teammates for the majority of his career.

Superstar is a concept. It's an idea. The term Superstar is going to mean something slightly different to every individual so there will never be a definitive concrete definition but Aches opinion would be a valuable one.

After a few years of teams dipping into challengers and a lot of these players either not performing or being dumped back to challengers after 1 season, is there a world where it’s worth recycling some ex CDL/CWL players instead? Temp, Gunless, Classic, Majormaniak? Obviously they are known quantities but their quantity is maybe more than the challenger player that ends up not performing in the CDL?
Do you think the faster health regen in the latest update has benefited SMGs more than has been spoken about. Particularly in relation to Shotzzys form?

@@robbiewira5344 My guess is the he needs a visa to play or maybe the bottom teams think Gunless is washed up or that he's a difficult teammate? Making teams believe that you are good seems like half the battle for getting in the CDL. I only started watching CoD again during Vanguard and I think everyone forgets just how good LAG was getting online right before Gunless had medical issues and now people exclusively remember the tournament where Spart won with the Volk.
@@robbiewira5344 also after LAG won the miracle event with Spart I would have slid Spart back down to the bench for Gunless once he was ready to play again even though that idea was considered idiotic at the time.

Pat, could you walk us through Ghosts Champs and the dominant run that col team had, would love to know Chris and Doug's perspectives (Mark too if he competed, can't remember) as players competing then and if Doug still feels his SB team would have been the best matchup for CoL in WF or GF and why if so
Sidenote: this was the first full comp cod event I watched on stream (introduced by 12pt club but didn't watch comp cod in bo2) and haven't seen such a dominant event by a team since...it was more dominant than Faze in CW Champs

Do you think the dominance of the top four teams indicates a higher skill gap than we have had in past games or is it more indicative of the weakness of the other 8 teams and the lack of enough new talent coming through from challengers. Or a mix of both?
Question: If you were a new franchise owner which 4 players would you choose to play for your team with the following criteria.
-Must pick 4 CDL players from 4 unique teams
-You must pick 2 AR and 2 SMG players knowing that they all have to swap from their preferred role example Asim-> AR or Scrappy-> SMG.

Look at the Optic Team period, not just the 4 on the active roster, but the bench and their support system. They have 3/4 from the dynasty available + Methodz. They’re bound to only get better as the season progresses.
Question for Pat: You've been pretty hard on Clayster's performances. If you were in his shoes and still wanted to compete in the later stages of your career, how would you approach roster decisions (e.g., are you playing in challengers, are you only playing with young talent, going the vet route, etc)?
Personally, I HATED the Felo/TJ decision, I would have gone with 2 Faze Black players before they got picked up. Basically, market myself as the guy to develop talent.

My biggest confusion is that Ultra didn’t do all this weird stuff with vetos and won the first event. That saying “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” kind of applies here, I wish Ultra would just get back to focus on winning. If they want to experiment on map pool stuff maybe do it against worst teams or something. I do agree with Pat that Optic look good but they still need consistent slaying out of everyone, it never seems to be everyone on the team or even majority of the team slaying out, it’s always one maybe two players at most have big series but they haven’t gotten a series where 3 or even 4 players have a solid slaying series.
Scump being underrated is crazy he got costed so much within his career. Scump is the most consistent player of all time where crim is the most winning player of all time and karma is the smartest player of all time. Also crim was apart of a lot of dynasties where as scump was not.
Do you honestly think priestah is the issue? I think its snoop making bad plays and not learning anything on how to play correctly and its making priestah look bad because he has to compensate for him 24/7 while also setting up slasher to slay.
Who is a higher ranked AR OAT, Octane or SlasheR? Slasher lasted longer but Octane retired on top. Both extremely similar careers accomplishment wise.

I don’t think it’s that the bottom teams are so bad as much as the top 4 have collected the best talents and the rest of the teams don’t have enough great players remaining to compete against the top 4. Don’t see this changing anytime soon either. We need to go back to Open events and get rid of league play
The top 4 teams having all the best players makes the bottom teams bad in comparison. Obviously they would still beat majority of non-league teams but in the league they are very bad.

I think what would happen (which did happen back in the day) is there are just a ton of games that are 3-0s where the cod being played is mid at best and hardly anyone bothers to tune in to games before it gets down to the top 12.
The league has def created the issue of talent being horded at the top because they didnt invoke a salary cap but since going professional teams have full on support staff now that never existed before, amateur teams (and the bottom league teams) just cant compete with the level of analysis a team like optic/faze/ultra has at their disposal. Theres a reason the skill gap between challengers and the league has never been greater and i just cant see a world in which an open style event makes any sense anymore, im not that interested in watching faze chokeslam 5 shit teams before they actually play someone competitive.
Just imagine you are being paid 6 figures to play cod professionally and for some reason you have to go to an event to play a rando group of kids that are unknowns, it just doesn't make any sense anymore with how cod esports has grown.

I disagree with Marky B on his take about Cammy needing a traditional Main AR to play alongside. How is Ghosty different from a Slasher or Accuracy? Two things could have been causing Cammy to not do well: Either his sub duo wasn't that great or Cammy just can't hang at the pro level like he did in Cold War. Respectfully

If we’re talking about talent, there’s no debate. Prime Scump guns prime anyone else. Rings are cool, but at the end of the day Champs is just another tournament with less competition than other majors and does not at all compare to a real sports championship of the likes of the NFL, NBA, FIFA, etc. The pageantry is great and all, but people who act like Champs rings are equivalent to a real sport’s ring are DELUSIONAL.

Bill Russell isn’t even in most top 5 lists. Jordan or LeBron are considered the two greatest because they won while being individually dominant. Since WWII, taking full year into account, Crim was not considered dominant or a Star player by any means while Scump was. And when they played together Scump was clearly the better of the two each year save WWII

For alot of us older cod fans who've been watching at least since bo2/ghosts, Karma was considered the goat for a long time (to many still is) so shoutout Damon the original goat...that said Crim is the goat all said and done.
In my mind it’s still Karma. Crim is incredible but Karma is the only player to win 3 rings on lan. And it’s three rings from back when champs was actually champs and not playoffs.
