I've been coming back to this video for like 8 years now and the feelings that build up during the montage at the end are still so immense.
I watched this the day it came out and still watch it when I'm nervous as hell before events.
Fighting games helped mellow me out. Learned I have no plot armour. Learned to try to turn defeat into a learning experience and use it as motivation to win next time.
Inspirational. I felt like crying. Now when I lose a match in any of those games or anything in general, i'll remember this video and kept moving forward to victory another day
When you lose become more humble and learn. That what I have learn from this video. Made respect for the old and new generation of fighting game players world wide.
This has to be one of the best trailers for the FGC. It took away the "hype" factor put on trailers and focused on what matters most, the feeling that you're in something as beautiful as this. Bravo, IPW. Bravo.
You guys need to make more clips like these! very touching, real, passionate, motivating, realization, everything i needed. thank you.
Darry's portion really hit. If he teared, I would have too. It was right there.
I love it when clips like this are made. They help us connect in some mysterious ways and you can feel the passion and the heart from the people featured in them.
I _felt_ Valle's pain. Damn.
Best promo of 2012 and the year is not even over.
My greatest loss was vs Noel Brown at a Columbus tournament for SSF4. I was up 1 round and 1 game, and had him down to chip life, my Sagat vs his Vega. Winner went into top 8.
I threw one fireball and got greedy for that last little bit of chip. He U2'd through it and took the round, and I completely cracked and let him come back. Now, every time I see that character, in any game, i'm reminded of that match and that moment.
Amazing vid.
Song is Balmorhea- Truth. Title encapsulates perfectly what this video is about.
Biggest loss was my country's first FGC major a couple of weeks back. Made top 8 at KoF and got paired against a local player who I'd been wanting to take down for months. I'd played him over and over again before and never beaten him, but I'd been practicing just to take him down. Won the first game with a reverse OCV, lost the second. Third went down to the last round - and then I dropped the kill-combo with Hwa Jai. A fighting game has never come so close to bringing me to tears in my life.
seriously almost had a tear...it's very inspirational...we have all been there
I got shivers at the end. dat piano. great video IPW
Gave me chills man. I'm still new to the scene and I'm still learnin. I lose alot but I want to be great. Thank you for this.
Honestly, this video will help the next generation of fighters. A lot of us only had ourselves to decide if we wanted to keep pushing and keep learning. This isn't an FPS game, this isn't a Racing game. This is a fighting game. I dropped and came back to the genre many times and I'm not afraid to admit that. Every time I came back, I became stronger. I'm here to stay and I'm here to teach my little nephew something other than FPS. I'm here to teach him real gaming discipline.
If I could favorite this a million times. I would. Every loss matters. Because in the end it's what gets us as players, to rise up to the occasion and to become the best we want to be.
wow this video is remarkable, you could show this to any competitive person, no matter what their activity is and it would resonate 100% with them. this was a great short.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Something we ALL can relate to, regardless of the level we may play at.
This video sends chills down my spine, and lights a fire in my heart.
That was absolutely beautiful. The part about every mistake being a lesson really spoke to me.
This video is definitive.
I don't comment on alot of FGC Promo but I had to for this one great job IPW we need more promos like this.
Now I really know what it feels like, and now I'm seeking redemption.
This was a great video. I especially appreciate how those players we consider top tier talk about their losses, its inspiring and it just makes fighting games that more difficult than other games. Im gotta hit the lab with this in mind.
I'm watching this again after a few months and it still makes me tear up.
This video not only speaks to fighting game players but it could also speak to ANYONE who wants to succeed, not only in games, but in Sports and life in general
Damn that was good. Thank you for that IPW. That must have taken a whole lot of hard work to put together so well.
That gave me the chills. Excellent editing
this video got me so hype. This was an awesome video.
My biggest lost was at the 2nd round of the game stop tournament for vanilla street fighter 4. It felt really good winning the first tournament to advance to round two. I felt like I could have done better and let my self down. Now I want to become one of the best players in the world. Hopefully :)
Fantastic video. I don't play FGs at all but you bet your ass I have the streams up and ready to go each weekend they are on. Have for years now and plan on many more!
Great mini documentary!!!!!
I cried as well.. If you love what you do so much. I understand why you did.
Can't say I have had a biggest loss since I have never taken it seriously but I know what hunger is and one time faced a kid named Riece and he bodied me in SF4 with my Zangief, showed me that there are people at another level, faced him again and lost but this time both of us got bodied. As long as your open to change and willing to get better, anything is possible
Casuals are where you meet new people and ask questions, so you can't really mess around in those either if you wanna be good.
Play to win.
My biggest loss? First match on Peaceful Jay's stream getting double perfected. Everybody was saying "get derq'd" when somebody was getting owned for a week after. I took it very jokingly and the mood was cool.
When I managed to get back on that stream with less stress and more confidence, I actually got my game going. People then were, "oh shit! he can actually play". I've never felt so welcomed with open arms than those very few wins.
Hunger is a trait I've gained through last month. thx FGC
really, that was a fantastic video, showing one of the better sides of the FGC
Great fucking trailer.
Good think Daigo beat Alex Valle, he is one of my favorite players to date!
Wow..this is beautiful
Yeah I cried at the end, no words more true have ever been spoken. Thanks Iplaywinner, you get my manly tears and all my props
That was really clever, please grace us with more of your youtube comedy.
Fantastic. Thank you.
Awesome
Wow...I really enjoyed that lol. Please do more!
This was awesome.
Also, spooky dropped the F-bomb first.
Yeah man. Like this video touched me and reminded me how I wanted to be better. My dad got me into fighting games playing Karate Champ on his Apple PC. I had SFII:CE for Genesis. I had the 6-pad controller and the little programmable device, because I couldn't do moves. A grown-up punished me in SFII when I was 9 in an arcade and from there I made my choice that I had to learn the real discipline of the fighting genre. It's no different than life; in this game we all find our shortcuts.
Thats some emotional stuff.
Love the FGC.
Wow, awesome video! Loved every second of it.
Love Spooky
Just wondering if you realize that Chris G plays Marvel, SF, MK, and KoF. In ever single game except Marvel he's all about rushdown. He picked the single hardest game to successfully zone in, and made it work.
This was so good. ahhhhhhh
6:01 with this song makes it even more exciting :)
Extremely well done!
Epic...I just leveled up!
ill get my chance to shine one day like them :)
This is amazing.
I needed this.
Amazing stuff!
Speechless.
this made me happy inside
That was sweet.
Very Moving And Touching Video! Great Vid IPL! Loved It!
wow. I've never seen this video until now. wow amazing
best trailer ive ever seen for the fgc, I WONDER IF KOTAKU WILL MAKE AN ARTICLE ABOUT IT
Holy shit. I have goosebumps right now.
Damn this was a good inspirational video. I actually got chills from watching it.
holy fuck... amazing... god damn how is this not loved by the masses... ah man... digressing
I really havent had a lost that really distroyed me more then a friendly game of MvC2 against someone at a local tourney. I knew the first second that everything in my life has never prepared me for this. So i went in with my decent team of cyclops, strider, doom and he was using magneto, storm, iron man. I knew he was able to pull off magneto's combos with ease and thats where i choked at. He got the first hit on me with a cross up. He jumped i blocked high he dashed down and went low thats wh
Damn that was beautiful
Inspiring words in the comment section of an inspiring video.
Goddamn, I love this video. For my whole life I've really loved video games, and I've especially loved fighting games. I took shit for that throughout elementary and high school, and it wasn't until college when people finally learned that they didn't need to put me down for what I loved in order to feel better about themselves. Videos like this make me so glad that I didn't stop playing the games I love. It's awesome to see that there are other people who really care about the same stuff I do.
epicly inspiring
Ill be interviewed like these guys one day.
I like how it wasnt even necessary to ask jwong what his worst loss was...
Great vid!
I will push myself hard and harder. I want to be recognized for my hard work in Street Fighter. I hope I can get up there someday, or just simply meet everyone and make good friends. :/ The only thing in life that I am so passionate about. It's just.. no girl can make me feel this way.
Alex Valle's comment (1:29) blew my mind.
Wow... beautiful. That's all I can say.
niiiiiice
5:29 greatest zoom in of all time
0:11 - 0:12 give Spooky 1 sec and you will see A Head Turn of Awesomeness!!!!
Well done IPW. This is true stuff.
Where's kotaku now? This was the best community video to date.. i want a documentary now.
Chris G should have mentioned getting perfected by Pz Mihe at final round, with the entire crowd seething for his defeat
I WAS GOING TO QUIT FIGHTING GAMES FOREVER BUT THEN I SAW THIS VIDEO AND IT INSPIRED ME TO PLAY UNTIL I'M 40 AND HAVE ARTHRITIS
Manly tears.
I really wish that I could be one of them just hang out with them
"My Biggest loss? Losing Gootecks" - Mike "Dynamike" Ross, 3/2012
Can I like this everytime I rewatch?
Seth is a better character under tournament setting than a FT10 because of his random wake up game. Daigo wasn't ready for what Poongko had in store, and he paid for it. Poongko said himself that he got lucky in the EVO 2011 against Daigo. Excuses are excuses, but there are things that can and will happen in a best of 3 format, especially against a character like Seth.
more videos like this!! please!!! ._.
God damn it I didn't even know they had qualifiers in the 707 :(
Yeh man. Seriously.
This made me realize that Chris G looks like a young Alex Valle.
6:02 I couldn't help but to laugh my assss offf when I saw the final round clip with combofiend vs marn BIONIC ARM!!!!! lmao hahahahaha On top of the sad song in the background....priceless. lol But I am excited on this video tho. Ive seen these top players before but to know there backgrounds is gonna be pretty interesting. Cant wait
Not to mention, if you're coming from a good distance travel isn't cheap nowadays. My flight alone is going to set me back 1500+...
i fucking teared up...damn this is so good..
Did you hear his explanation? Because against Mihe and JWong were legit losses where he just got outplayed. I would have thought his worst loss was at SCR vs Dios X
