In order to help the plant thrive, I recommend removing as much of the plastic sheeting and debris. All the dead leaves and roots must be removed to make room for more healthy growth. Pruning the plant will help it grow back healthier and stronger so don’t worry about removing sections of it!
I love piggies and have owned many over the years. The thing to realise about mice is they can climb quite high up rope after food which piggies can’t. You can set humane traps with enticing peanut butter or cheese three foot up with rope or rough sticks to reach it to catch them. There are also swing lid traps that fit over a bucket to catch mice that your piggies couldn’t reach. I love your enclosure wildlife park ❤
I was expecting to see a pond from them to drink from, but this is very beautiful as well! One of my pigs enjoys a little swim to cool down, he'll happily go in a bowl of water for a wallow, but only for a minute or so then wants to lie in the sun and dry off. I guess they are related to capybara, so on a hot day, some of yours might have wallowed in the pond like hippos. We'll never know I guess :D
I know you said the podcast would be about Guinea Pig lore, but if you ever do guests, you could ask on Bernadette Banner and her brother Danny. Bernadette's main focus is educational videos about historical fashion, but each year Danny paints a Guinea Pig portrait for his sister. I would love to hear them share their love of Guinea Pigs, and how the portraits started!
This might sound weird, but I’m at the hospital right now, and your voice is the only thing that calms me down enough to fall asleep through all the noise around. Thank you
My husband and I had a lot mice around our peacocks and chickens enclosures. My father in law told us to hot glue dog food on mice traps. It worked absolutely amazing. Got rid of all the mice in 2 or 3 weeks. Then we reinforce the chickens and peacocks enclosures. We see a few mice every fall and use the hot glue dog food mice traps.
Hm, I know that in horse stables they often have a box with guinea pigs as it was said they keep away rats. But it seems it´s not working on mice. I have no idea what could help. Maybe adopt some stray cats that are good hunters? But then Your sweet kitty could be pissed...😹😾
The plant appears to be a Tree Philodendron (Philodendron bipinnatifidum). If you look up the plant look for pictures of it growing in the wild, not as a houseplant.
We were acidently (should care for them during a move of a collegue, but then she never picked them up again) fostering two guinea pigs for about a year (then gave them to a specialized shelter for guinea pigs where they can be adopted as I am allergic to hay) and my two cats just ignored them. It´s not prey for them. Maybe a stray would hunt the babies, but not the adults.
Maybe invest in a decent pair of gloves when digging in your pond garden? you never know what could pop out whether it be of the rodent persuasion or something sharp that may have found its way in
I think the plant is a thaumtophyllum Bipinnatifidum. @plantswithkrystal has a video of her repotting a 60 year old one, that looks exactly like the plant you have.
You should do a video on how you clean their enclosures! I'm curious on the process and how often you clean, maybe what products you use if any, and if you do lots of light cleanings and periodically a deep clean, etc. Or a general day/week in the life of someone who own so so many guinea pigs and how much they cost to maintain. I love seeing your shorts! I love seeing how much you care about all of these guys that happened to enter your life
The way I jumped when the mouse moved. Lol. You are doing an amazing job at taking care of the guinea pigs and the cat. I don't have a clue as to what kind of plant that is. But I'm amazed at how big it's gotten.
Do you know how I find out what plant species I have? I use Google Lens. You take a picture and then ask what kind of plant is this? 9/10 it'll find that plant. You're doing a great job with your piggies. They are too cute for words!
It looks like a thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum, commonly confused with a philodendron. Also cutting the air roots shouldnt cause too much of an issue it should be okay
Hi Cid. I have two boy g/pigs and love watching your videos both guinea pigs and non g/p content. Im a Victorian and was wondering which state uour from, as you can keep your pigs outside during winter.
Get four chickens. The chickens will eat the bugs and the mice. Problem solved. You will also get eggs to eat with your deep fried Guinea pig…. Oh! Just realised this is not a homesteading video. Apologies. Guinea pigs are sweet little creatures I’m glad you are not keeping them to eat. 😊
I have pet mice. They are awesome. Keep your food in containers, because mice aren't your issue. Flour beetles, ants, and roaches will. They are the true pests
I love the Thaumatophyllum family with the Bipinna as my hands down fave. Not to be confused with the Philodendron fam. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaumatophyllum_bipinnatifidum
not me thinking you were gonna make a new pond out of it 😭
Same, literally was like "Do guinea pigs like to swim??? Is he just makin it for them to drink out of??"
I love how every now and then a guinea pig scout came by to check on what you were doing.
In order to help the plant thrive, I recommend removing as much of the plastic sheeting and debris. All the dead leaves and roots must be removed to make room for more healthy growth. Pruning the plant will help it grow back healthier and stronger so don’t worry about removing sections of it!
That philodendron is so crazy!! also you killed this. manual labor king, anything for his babies
Philodendron bipinnatifidum, Philodendron selloum. That's the plant that you have you use them in tropical Fern Gardens.

I'm picturing this in my head and it looks lovely 😊
Maybe he will see the comment and make them a little wallowing hole :) you never know @@anniestumpy9918
OMG Dude. The last owners left you those guinea pigs for lawn mowers. They cut the grass.

Amazing work! All the little creatures are lucky to have you
Definitely blessed to have Cid, best kept piggies ❤
I was on the edge of my seat when you were blindly digging with your bare hand under the dirt, you need some gardening gloves love.

Thing is: Rats avoid mice, mice avoid rats.
If you have rats, you don't have mice and reversed 😂

You have a cat! Does your cat get along with your guinea pigs? More, please!
Yea she does! :)

Yes it is! It always gets mixed up with phildendron
Im so jealous haha the pigs and the plant are both amazing
I'm living for Cid content. Picks up my day. Keep going and inspiring! 🎉
I love this type of content! So calming and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey, Cid.
I really need to build an outdoor jungle for my piggies. This is a great video!
This was great to watch! Thanks for the longer content!
Looks amazing! Keep up the hard work! Advance congratulations for your soon to be 100k subscribers!
Yayyyy a long video!!!!!🩵🩵🩵
In summer you might get a flower/fruit on the philodendron. It is a phallus shape and has an unpleasant smell mainly in the evening.
I LOVE your accent. 🥰

May is such a cutie ❤❤❤
I’ve been loving this series!

Careful, ponds are addictive 😂
Dung beetles are big, those look like Japanese beetles!

Your plant is a type of Philodendron. Probably Xanadu (or a hybrid of it)
Edit: it's Philodendron Bipinnatifidum
Maby you should have put the net under the first layer of dirt, to avoid the mice.

My dad knows plants really well. Which one was it?
Bru u should’ve just made a new pond
Can’t wait to watch! Love the piggies!

You need gardening gloves, proper tools etc.
Imagine you got hurt! Who will care for your guineas?
