BIGBANG break the stereotype of kpop idols wayback 2006 till now. They're the most unpredictable kpop group with a wide range of genre
I agree that BigBang were a bit different than the norm despite kpop still being relatively new. In particular, GD expanded the role of an idol as he became an influencer in style, modeling, production, and writing. However, I don't associate Bigbang with being unpredictable. Though they definitely have range, they also have a lot that falls into a specific sound.

Interesting fact is that Jonghyun from SHINee was one of the vocal trainer of Baekgyun and D.O from Exo (with one of the legend of k-pop Yoo Young Jin who also was the vocal trainer of Jonghyun ) (Yoo Young Jin is the singer, composer, songwriter, vocal trainer and producer of SM, you can hear his voice in the mv with D.O , song called "Tell me what is love" )

A few reasons why Shinee is special:
1. Because of them people started to take seriously idol dancers in kpop and they popularized dance practice videos
2. Their debut is called one of the best debutes in kpop to this day, it is and always will be iconic
3. All the members have succesfull solo careers and can shake up the stage alone
4. Taemin is one of the greatest dancers in kpop and a lot of idols look at him as their idol when it comes to dancing
5. Taemin was only 14 years old when they debuted and being in that crazy industry at such a young age is really hard and he is still going on so...respect.
6. Taemin was accepted in SM because of his impressive dancing skill and they said that his vocals were not good (puberty and stuff...) but he made it into Shinee after all. Also, his vocals were not included in their debut songs because his voice was keep breaking and apparently was not that good, but look at him now - an icon.
7. After 12 years and some hardships they are still so strong to be on stage

@@ygblackstanfamily1497 sechskies actually had a subunit in 1998. But for many years after that groups didn't have a subunit because it seemed quite unnecessary. But then suju started to have subunits (because of the fact that they have many members), and the idea was basically repopularized.

SHINee. When they perform, they perform hard, and LIVE. They have super great stage presence. And very distinct vocal colors and 👌 harmonies.
About exo how can they preform like this. Lay answered it in one of his interwievs. SM entertainment has one off the hardest and harsh. He told that they had tranings like combination of vocal lesson and cardiotraning (Lay said that they had to running on stairs and sing at the same time and many similar practices they had all of the sm tranies has to go throu hard tranings). i think that is the reason why sm has the most talented and powerfull vocalist. TVXQ, SUJU, SHINEE, EXO, NCT. I am not saying that other groups dont have great vocalists and i dont want to start a fanwar its just my own opinion. Thank you for your reaction. Agree. SM ENT. Has one of the hardest trainings in the Kpop industry. They say they also practice singing while on the treadmill. I think they have the best vocals coaches coz their voices are one of the best and even improving more.

BIGBANGs fandom is called VIPs the lightstick is the flower crown aka crownstick/ bangbong ...well it's difficult to put a finger on the range of ages for the fans but it's been 13 years since them boys been around, so well in general words we'd be from 20s - 40aqs considering their earliest fans were older than them also officially in sk we are at VIP5 going VIP6 ( I.e generation of vips since the beginning of the band) the youngest VIP I know is 15 and oldest are 55 ...mostly active fans are in their mid 20s to 30s with a few in their teens ....as for any latest activity aftr their military discharges TAEYANG has endorsed fendi and organised an auction for differently abled kids learning music, TOP is always with his art, DAESUNG has gone ninja , JIYONG AKA GDRAGON released his first colab with nike in the form of his customised AF1 paranoise shoes which were named the best shoes of the year 2019 and went sold out in couple of mins of their world wide release , he is also endorsing multiple fasion brands and is recently endorsing A "TEA" in China thereby probably breaking the years long hallyu ( korean artists) ban in China, SEUNGRI has enlisted in the military and currently has been promoted to private 2 rank he'll be serving his country for a total of 557 days....they were supposed to perform at Coachella this year but due to the current unfortunate events it's been pushed to further dates .. no signs of new music yet but can't say... this is BB we're talking abt, no one can predict what these guys could pull off... look forward to more excellence from them!!

Yes finally! Mamamoo at MAMA 2018!!! IM SHOOKEHH!! I live for their live performances! Both Mamamoo and Bigbang live there were actually saved at my phone, every freaking time i have a new phone! Coz their live are totally insane and you can see how they hype the crowd.These performances are the ones I let my non kpop friends viewed resulting them to like and enter the world of kpop just like that! 💯 ♥️

In terms of your bigbang fanbase ages question : In Korea, because they smashed the 'idol' stereotype, theyre pretty much the only group considered to have just as much adult male fans. Even outside of Korea - Taeyangs solos (like wedding dress lol) were the first songs to spread really commonly throughut Asia for guys to listen to, without knowing they were listening to Kpop. So they dont have a dedicated fanbase for streaming etc, their high numbers come from the general public of all ages jamming to them. They have the mose male fans from every other group by miles - when two of them went to the military, you should watch the military guys going crazy for their performances lol.
Bigbang’s “Lies”, “Haru Haru”, “Tonight” were spread widely over Asia at the time. As a Vietnamese myself, Haru Haru was blasted everywhere in Vietnam like 10+ years ago. Bigbang, T-ARA, SNSD, Super Junior,... were usually the groups that got Vietnamese into Kpop. Bigbang is just undeniably the kings indeed!!

For the Fanbase Bigbang is very diverse. They have a lot of Male fans. I would say almost 50:50 ratio between male and female. For age maybe over 20s and 30s?? but generally they are very well liked (musically) by koreans all ages. young and old would listen to their song from title track to even b sides, thats why they killed charts everytime they release anything.
But the VIP fandom are known to be passive in social media, so they don't really vote / trend hashtags, or hype Bigbang. But they are a lot of VIPs , trust me.
Additionally whatever G- Dragon say and wear becomes news and trends.

Hey if you want to see more amazing BIGBANG performances I recommend you their 2012 MAMA performance and 2013 MAMA performance ! There is their performance at 2016 SBS Gayodaejun which was their last performance at an award show before the hiatus. And also I recommend you GD x TAEYANG at MAMA 2014 where GD literally dissed MAMA on stage and still was invited the next year because what would they do without BIGBANG ! Since you listened to Sober you could also watch their concert performance of Sober ( Daesung plays the drums during the performance ). Also their performance of If you, which is a ballad, is not to be missed ( to hear more of their vocals ) !

They had planned to comeback at Coachella this year in April but it was Coachella was postponed until June. Back in the days, fans are just using balloons or flags-like as a way to support their fave group when they perform. But thank you to G-Dragon (Bigbang's Leader), he designed the very first lightstick in the Kpop industry, the Bang Bong(crown lightstick in the color of yellow and black). Bigbang's fan are mostly ages 18 years old upwards but because of their uniqueness and powerful aura, even children ages 8 years old upwards idolizes them. Bigbang is in the industry for almost 15 years. They debuted in 2006, breaking the stereotypes among kpop groups and turning common to extraordinary aspects of music and performances. It’s not a sad song, but it always makes me nostalgic and shed tears whenever I listen to it now. I stanned BIGBANG when I was 17 (2nd year college) and now I’m 26 (CPA for 6 years now). It’s so nice to see that they are still on top of the game despite being in the industry for so long and been through so much sh*t & scandal that could ruin their career but it’s just that the reputation they’ve built in the industry cannot be ruined just like that. Maybe because people liked them mainly for their music and how theycarry themselves. They don’t even care about their image, they just do what they what. They out there partying drinking and smoking in public while other idols are being controlled and trying so hard to protect their image to not disappoint their fans. SHINee is one of the most respected Kpop idols I the Industry, they don't follow trends they create their own and after that everybody follows. In my opinion SHINee were ahead of their time since when they started their career , and STILL going strong after 13 years, the most recent comeback was smashing!!! Every time they level it up, SHINee is the standard in K-pop, countless Idols refers to them as their inspiration, one of the most iconic performers every single member is a brilliant performer 💎💎💎💎💎

BIGBANG's fandom is called VIP. The fans are varied from teens to older people. But I think mostly are above 20. BIGBANG is also the Kpop boy group who has the biggest male fans. The ratio between Male and Female fans is 50:50. They are also loved by general public.
Jonghyun is the one in the dance duel with Taemin. He was the Main vocal of SHINee, powerhouse vocals, and just a musical genius. The one dancing by himself is Key. The tall one with the dark hair is Minho, and the one with red/orange hair dancing with him is Onew, the guy with howling vocals (he can SING). You should definitely check more of them. They are wild during their concerts! SM groups are vocal kings and queens!!!

You should watch a Super Show from start to final, there is the real balance of chaos and tranquility, they can go from dance songs to ballads to them wearing costumes of vegetables and singing silly song. Really being in a Super Show is a great experience, i have some friends who are not fans of super junior but wanted to go to their shows because of the quality of those
