Reminds me of my days on the West Coast, the beers the whisky, the laughs and the sing alongs. This would alway get people on their feet having a good old dance.. I'm proud to be Scottish. ❤️🏴
I love the fact that I can to listen to this whenever but nothing will beat listening to it live, jumping about and chanting whilst out your timezone drunk
@@paddymeboy Yes, it is an arrangement of the Local Hero theme by Mark Knopfler, born in Glasgow and left Scotland around 7 years old. Enjoy the music. Just because you were born in a stable doesn't make you a horse, as they say. Maybe his years in Scotland were influential in his inspired composition?
Well done - whoever you are ! These guys are common as muck ! ? And fuckin' brilliant !!! The Vatersay Boys are a small part of what makes Scotland - truly Scottish !! I'll never forget that big YES sign greeting us to Barra before the cowardly bastards voted NO on the 18th ! Ce la vie..............but the struggle goes on. Here's to the Vatersay Boys and some good old Scottish traditional music !
No you're right it is Local Hero by Mark Knopfler. It's not a traditional tune so has no different names in different places, just the VB own arrangement so changed the name i guess.
In the traditional music scene “tracks” names are an amalgamation of more than one tune. This is a “track” they called The Rammy, and along with Going Home, they played a couple more tunes alongside, not featured on this video.
that doesn`t answer my question ...the tune the vatersay boys play in "the rammy" is - for my ears - the same as Mr Knopfler plays under the title "Going home" ... so what gives? @@gavinanderson2751

Pride in what? This is a blatant rip-off of Local Hero by Englishman Mark Knopfler.

I know this song as Local Hero. What's the story here? Does it have a different name depending on where you are?

It's actually called Going Home, or Wild Theme, it's the theme riff from the movie Local Hero.
