  • For centuries, weaving has formed an integral part of the Coast Salish communities’ culture.
Around 82 years passed while the tradition of weaving lay dormant. Debra Sparrow, among other Coast Salish weavers, has since revived these lost traditions.
To this day, Debra, Angela and Janice continue to share their knowledge of Coast Salish weaving and traditions with their community and the world.
Accompanied by other weavers, and with the support of the Vancouver Mural Festival, their work continues to ensure the culture and history of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Tsleil-Waututh Nations will remain ever-present as a reminder of whose land we stand on.
