- Bleaching my hair from Red to Blonde!
All products used in this video were purchased from Sally's Beauty.
The process from Red to Blonde, took me less than a week to achieve. But completing the entire process and adding in the low lights from the salon-took less than a month! - Jak na to + styl
Your hair looks great! I'm doing research right now and I have learned a few things... first one is that color remover's are fantastic and should be used first before any kinds of bleach because they can remove a lot if not all of the color and don't damage your hair as much so they should always be used first-only the ones without peroxide though. Second, if you have red tones in your hair or tend to go brassy like I do, always go for ash tones instead of neutral tones when you're re-dying your hair (7A instead of 7N etc) It's very helpful when you first dye it and almost tones it at the same time I always look red but ash tones always neutralize it. Demi permanents are helpful too but be careful and get a couple shades lighter than you want because porous hair grabs hard. So those are the few things I have learned wish everybody luck going back light!!
How did ya hair turn out after your bleaching?
Looks great. What a process!
I'm writing this 2 years after you posted. You're one confident woman to try that before your wedding. Cudos to you! It looks fantastic. Congratulations on your wedding too.
Thank you for watching my video and leaving a comment! It definitely was a ballsy move haha! I am very happy I shared my experience and my results. Thank you again for watching!
What you were able to achieve was amazing...love the lowlights done by the salon...and yes, you even look great without make-up! (I wish we all did! haha)
This was the most helpful video on CZcams. I love coloring my own hair but blonde is something I've never done and I've been watching videos forever and your video just made me feel better about doing it. I love that hair dye. Hair dye is like my passion but blonde is something I'm not 100% confident but now I am. Thank you so much
Hello Kerri, thank you so much for finding my video and watching! I am glad it helped boost a little confidence in doing it yourself. I definitely had fun making this video and loved being able to share my experience
I wanted to say thanks for making this video. I dyed my hair burgundy for years and wanted to my blonde back salons also told me no. I did it last year step by step and it worked I was so happy. A friend of mine just did the same thing and salon told her no so I found your video again and did it for her and it worked for her too. So giving you a shout out for all your help.
Wow, thank you so much Carrie
WOW you looked amazing on your wedding! The blonde hair looks beautiful on you! I also LOVE your dress... it looks like you have a country style wedding? SO CUTE!!!!!
So sorry for the late response, but yes! I had an amazing small country wedding. It was beautiful and I loved every minute
You did awesome! Congratulations on your wedding ❤❤
You made it happen girl!!! Great wedding photos!!!! Congrats!!!
Thank you for the sweet love note! I appreciate you watching my video
WOW!!! You look great with each colour, but the blonde is really amazing. The Wedding photo is stunning.
Thank you Mary, that was very sweet of you to say! Thank you for watching my video
The first orange is where my hair is at right now. Lol I have to go to work like this till payday Friday!!! ACK! Good things it's only today, thurday and friday! I'm not washing in between bleachings eaither so I'm at least giving a few days in between bleachings. Friday is payday, where I'm getting another Quick blue and will do the toners Wella T14 & T18. A week after that I'll do the dye. I'm excited now. You've given me hope. My hair is good like yours!
Omg.. mee too! I do this every season red to blonde, and No salon will do mine either.. lol thanks for sharing!
Congratulations on your wedding. You looked fabulous for your special day.
Thank you so much, Janice! I appreciate the love & thank you for watching my video
I love how not scared you are in this video I just bleached my hair yesterday and I was scared but obviously got over it. but gosh I rlly admire you for that.
i have been doing a LOT of research because i'm thinking of going quiet blonde. my hair is a natural sandy blonde color but i have been dying my hair since i was in high school. I take very good care of my hair with deep conditioners and treatments and i usually go to a salon for colors but i just can't afford it anymore with college. MY hair is a bit more brown than yours was at the beginning but your end result is almost what i want so i'm glad i found your videos! i have went red a couple times now and i know the color bleach will make it but i have never done this by myself with sally's supplies so this gives me a little hope! your video is about the 30th one i watched and i'm glad you documented all it all the way you did.
Skallia Ray, thank you! I am glad this video was helpful! I totally agree, salons can get very expensive. Sally's was a great resource because they have so many options to choose from and the products don't break the bank like salons. :) Thank you for watching and good luck!!
Your hair looks great & congratulations 🎉
Looks amazing, I’ve been a hairdresser for 25 years:)
I know this video was a long time ago! But girl! That move was so ballsy before your wedding!!! Want you want something that bad sometimes you just have to go for it! Right now im at thAt after quick blue kinda orangy from orginally a dark chocolate brown. So ive been researching as well! Kinda fried my ends on right side and left side doesnt match as much. But trying to have faith to hold off and then fix it for summer! Your hair turned out just beautiful so far this was my fav video! Awesome! Deff do more videos again in the future! Xoxox -Ash
Sorry for such a late response, but thank you!!
I literally used your video to coach me through bleaching my hair for the first time. I was soo freakin nervous!! I'm a natural strawberry blonde and I dyed my hair dark red a while back. Thank God for the wella toner ( I just used Wella T-18 )!!! My hair came out crazy at first with the bleach process... yellow roots and the rest of my hair was brassy, orangy, pinkish(red didn't completely fade away). Day 2, I went over the reddish parts with the bleach again and rinsed with the shampoo AND then finally used the miracle Wella T-18 ash blonde toner and Tadahhhh... Bye, Bye bright orange, yellow disaster!!! My hair actually was close to platinum blonde and evened out the odd colors, Thank God! Thought I was gonna have to hide in my house for awhile! Only 2 days too! Doesn't look perfect but its not bad! Thank You for sharing this video!!!! Big Help!
Kristina Brunner, oh my gosh how awesome!! Thank you for sharing your story and I'm so happy it came out well! Thank you for watching! ❤
So, you used the bleach, too! (Did you use 30 volume peroxide also?) I think that is what I am going to have to do. I watched a ton of videos today and the majority of people didn't have very good results with Color Oops (results were very minimal). Then again, perhaps the expectation of how it works needs to be clear! What most folks don't understand is that if you can get your hair to a light (as in light, LIGHT!) orange/yellow color, that's perfect - you can either tone it using 20 volume (using a blue or violet base) or apply color (like a 10.2 or a 9.2) using 10 or 20 volume (using a blue or violet base) depending on how light the hair already is and how you want it. (I have to use a color because toners never seem to work out well for me - my hair always grabs the base color!) This method has always worked for me in the past! Thanks for sharing your story, too!!
GetLeverage ... yeah my natural hair color is actually red (like a strawberry blonde) and I dyed it a dark red (close to her color in the video) so I had a hard time. I got orange and yellow hair after bleaching it 2days in a row. I didn't even do a bath either.... just loreal blue bleach and 30 volume peroxide (I used a leave in conditioner mask overnight in between each bleach job). After the second bleach on day2, I used wella T18 ash blonde toner & 20 vol (my hair was a yellow-orange, uneven mess). The toner helped alot and leaving in the purple shampoo and purple conditioner a few minutes each helped to (I got sally's purple sh. & con. packets). My hair looked pretty good but eventually after a week and a half the color faded back to the original disaster. Sooooo..... I did a bleach bath (loreal blue & 30 vol & lil Pantene argan oil shampoo) then toned it again but overall I knew it was not gonna last and it wasn't the blonde I wanted (wasn't natural light blonde and even enough). Next day, I said screw it n went to the store and got a box dye (Garnier #82 Champagne Blonde) and I put it on ALL OVER for 45 min... I also added a lil bit of 30 developer to the mix to make it stretch cuz I got long hair. MAN MY HAIR IS PERFECT NOW! I wish I did this weeks ago. If I could redo.... I would do the 2days of bleaching (regular then bath next), tone it, THEN wait a day or 2 to dye it with the Garnier. I wish I could post a pic its the perfect light blonde and natural looking. All the uneven colors mess ups just blended out very well making look like blended highlights in a way (if that makes sense) like some golden blonde strands mixed with platinum like blonde. I love it! My hair is the most stubborn red hair so I'm shocked!
Kristina Brunner Sounds beautiful! I never had much luck with toners at all! And I see you grabbed the 82 from Garnier - that's what I am going to use! I can't believe I am going to do this AGAIN. My hairdresser from years ago told me if I wanted red hair to buy a wig!! Did I listen?? Nooooo! Thanks for responding...I took note of your tips!!!
Okay, so I bit the bullet and went for it. In the past I would have done this all in one day...but I am sort of glad I didn't. I had forgotten how very time-consuming this is!
If I understand what you wrote - you said you bleached twice and STILL ended up with yellow roots and light orange hair? Is this correct? And then your FINAL choice was 82 with 30 volume?
I am actually shocked that after using 30 volume twice that I didn't end up with yellow hair all over - or at least a very dark yellow! So, now I have white yellow roots and light orange hair, but this would be so much easier if the orange were lighter! I guess what I will do tomorrow is apply the 82 with a 30 volume to neutralize the orange, and then do the roots with the same color using a 10 or 20 volume (I think what comes in the package is actually 25 volume - I can't remember).
I hope to hear back from you. It feels weird to feel this nervous about finishing this process. I can't say I have ever felt this nervous, and I have been playing with my hair for more than 20 years!!
your hair lifted amazingly !!
wish u could do mine for me lolol
Thank you! I was pleasantly surprised haha :) Thank you for watching my video!
7 years ago and ur still a queen luv u taylor thank u
Amazing!! Congrats on your wedding!!!
summer smith, thank you so much!
you're so pretty without makeup! I didn't even notice until you pointed it out!
also, your hair looks great!
Thank you so much!
Wednesday I’m going to the salon and going from medium blonde box color to a very nice burgundy color. I can’t wait! I love my blonde hair but I’m so in love with red hair here lately. You looked amazing with both colors. Congrats on getting married
Thank you for sharing the love Shawna! Oh my gosh, I LOVE Burgundy hair. It is gorgeous every time I see it on anyone! I hope whatever you got done, it turned out well and you loved it! Thank you for watching my video!
cute!!! thanks for taking us through this process with you.
also you look gorgeous in your wedding photos
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching it :) and thank you! Our wedding was very fun and I loved every minute!
It came out so pretty!! And this video is super helpful thank you!!😘❤️🙌🏼
I am so happy you found my video to be helpful! Thank you for watching and leaving a love note!
I'm surprised the salon would even say that I'm a colorist I would have been able to do your hair no problem. lol jeez well good job ! just make sure you do your hair masks !
KaYkAy, Im glad you have the skills and I wish I could have found someone like you to help me :) But yeah! The place I went to I had looked up online and they were rated highly and specialized in color correction. I drove across town all excited to see what they could do and was surprised with their feedback... But hey, at least they were honest I guess. Everything turned out well in the end though! :)
and thank you! Hair masks have been one of my best friends thru this whole process lol
Taylor Ray i I've been doing hair for about 8 years and it's amazing on how many Salon check the hair and decide if it's good condition to get it lighted. well aleast you asked . next time go to Sola Salon and find the independent hair stylist that specializes in color. or check out Floyd's Barbershop they have amazing colorist. I worked for them for awhile. hope this helps :)
Thank you, that does help! I appreciate it!
My hair is way way lighter than yours was to start and the salon told me the same thing, they wouldnt lighten it and the only thing I could do is put in highlights and to keep coming back for more highlights. UGH
I just bought everything and I'll start tonight :D. I'm excited I'll give you an update!
Yayy! How did it all go?? Good luck!
Doing my hair tomorrow!!! I can’t wait to go back blonde 👱🏻♀️
I couldn't catch all the steps and products you used, but am going to try this at home.
omg your came out soo good! im def going to try this but first im going to try washing out the red as much as possible!
Maria Rios thank you so much! ❤
ps. good luck once you start!
Beautiful! Can you tell me what red you had before? Im wanting to do the opposite! Haha
So glad I found this I just went red and I just don't like it and I want to go back blonde! Hoping this works!!!
Good luck! And if you need any other help, please check out ElleBangs channel. She is amazing and is actually a professional. :) Have fun!
Out of curiosity, which deep conditioner did you use during this process? Your hair looks very healthy for having had a couple rounds of bleach. I also have red hair and really want to get it out safely.
Wow looks very good on you the blonde!!!
gaby79nl
thank you!!
i really want to do this....the whole bleaching process. Can you tell exactly what you used like to bleach and tone???
GREAT VIDEO!! Good job!
it brings out the warmness!
Hi Thank you so much for this video I cant wait to try this week! I just have one question when doing the bleach bath are you mixing some of the purple shampoo in with the bleach or just to wash out I have seen some videos with them mixing in with bleach??
Hello! I just used bleach and 30 vol for the bleach bath mixture... Then I used the purple shampoo to wash my hair (followed up by a deep conditioner!)
Your video literally saved me! THANK YOU!!
Sorry for the late response, but thank you for watching my video! I am so happy to hear that it had helped you at that time!
So the wella tone you added it with the bleach or how did you do it with the tone?? I really wanna go blonde I'm a red hair right now
It came out great!
your hair turned out beautiful..
jessgoesgreen, thank you so much! I had a lot of fun doing it and I'm glad it turned out as well as it did! :)
my hair looks like urs without the toner !...still waiting for my Wella T14 and 050 that I've ordered , hope it turns out good
So glad to hear! Good luck & thank you for watching
Hey! Thank you for this video! I’ve done pretty much every color you can and most of it myself but this will be the second time going from dark to light and the first time I fried the ends and it took months. So I wanted to find a video like this where I can possibly do it in a few days and not fry my hair again. I’m also wanting to go back to blonde prepping for a wedding. Its not soon but better to have plenty of time to fix it, right? Thanks again! Oh, also, would you recommend Color Oops before bleaching?
Hello Mandy, sorry for the late response - I hope you were able to achieve the hair color you were looking for at that time! I have never used a color remover before, BUT I have heard really good things about "color oops". You are supposed to use that product I believe prior to bleaching. :) Thank you for watching my video and leaving this love note! I appreciate it!
hey I had a question. you said to mix 7NN with 6G and 10 volume right.. so how much of each should I use? . also how much of the 12.2 high lift and 20 volume should I use?
so I wanted to clarify:
it's 3/4 ounce of T 14 and 1/4 ounce of T18 with 2 ounce of 20 volume
right ?
Did you ever say what product you had used to turn it red?
Curious do you habe the proper measurments possibly? Im in the sam situation and looking to go back to blonde
amazing! I'm bleaching my hair from box dye black to hopefully a white blonde in a couple of weeks
Hannah, Thank you and good luck!!
How did it go???
I'm about to do mine again too
I know this video is old but I followed everything you did (even screenshotted your notepad) to get my hair from dark red to blonde and girl, I just want to thank you! The hairdresser I was trying to do it with did a little bit of bleached highlights but then kept postponing and rescheduling my next appointment (where she only would’ve done a few more bleached highlights), so after three months of getting pushed later and later and my natural hair becoming very noticeable, I decided to do it all myself. Came out very light blonde and costed me a lot less waiting and money than that hairdresser.
Oh my GOSH Charlotte, thank you for leaving that comment. I love that you were able try it out and achieved a good result! That is such an awesome story!
Can u add a list of materials used in the description
How long did you wait for the toneing process
I don't know if this was posted else where, but how long did you wait to apply the toner after your second bleaching? Did you do it directly after or wait a few hours/a day? Also, I read that it is best to bleach everything but the roots and ends of hair for 20 minutes then for the last 10, to go ahead and apply it. Did you do that too or just applied bleach all over?
Megan Guerrero, Hello!
I went ahead and applied the bleach all over. I didn't focus on my roots though the during the first bleach bath. But for the second bleach bath I went in all over and did my roots on the top of my head last. As far as toning, I did it once, right after I washed out my hair (2nd bleach bath) while my hair was damp and left it in for about 13 mins. :)
Thank you for this I have been trying to find a tutorial that uses bleach and to remove the red hair. I have red hair and my hair is naturally brown, but this helps a lot!
Sorry for such a late response, but thank you for watching my video! I hope whatever you decided to do, you had fun doing it!
yes I will let it breathe and go to the salon. thanks love ❤️
You did an amazing job ❤️✌🏻
Thank you for the love & watching my video!
I know this is a very old video but I need help, I currently have browny red hair it’s a bit like yours before but more brown , I want to go half Black half hot pink or like dark pink . Will bleaching my hair then putting pink dye over the top work ? I mean I’m prepared to give it a try , it’s lockdown and I’m bored ... veryyy bored
Hi! Your video has been SO helpful for me to finish researching (once and for all) what I need to get and how long everything will take.
I'm just a tad bit confused on the last part. When you were doing your roots with the hair color and then you mentioned the High Lift stuff. Is that another hair color? Or is it something else? And you said you used it with the 20v developer? Sorry, lol, I'm just trying to make sure I get everything RIGHT, because I don't wanna mess my hair up. And yours turned out amazing! That's exactly the color I want.
I've never bleached or toned before.
Thank you for your helpful video!!
JessieGriffin1991, Hello! Yes at the end I used two different colors. The high lift color is mainly used on darker levels of hair (if I'm not mistaken). I decided to use it since I had it and was curious if it would cover up some of the yellow tones that were left over (and it did!) I used the "high lift v12" by Ion-but you definitely don't need a high lift color unless you are working with darker hair. It's completely up to you. Check out ElleBangs video where she describes what a high lift color does/achieves. -right before the middle of the video she gets into it :)
czcams.com/video/chCxhbg3wbI/video.html
I hope that was helpful! Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you liked it! ❤ Good luck and take care of your hair.
Thank you so much! You're so helpful - especially for hair newbies lol. Thanks again! xoxo
how much did it cost you to get everything??
I love it!! I'm going to try it today too!!
Nicole, how did it go?! :)
It got my hair to a sort of strawberry blonde. I've tried toning down the oranges but it's still orange. It's not a bad color at all! I get lots of compliments. I just personally wish it was more beige
Nicole, I'm glad you're ok with the strawberry color and that you get compliments! If you are wanting to get more of that beige blonde, you may need to do one more bleach bath and then try the toning again. I believe the Wella toner in T11 is good to get a more beige blonde result. I hope that helps!
Most hairdressers dont want to risk damage or breakage to your hair as they are open to being sued, its just not worth the risk to their business.
But if you do it yourself at home then its only your hair at risk.. This time it worked out for you. I do see a bit of breakage at front, image if a salon had done that some folk would be calling a lawyer.
You looked beautiful on your wedding day btw.
Can u list all you used in order so can remember as well. Thanks. Looks great. And the process so I can refer to c in message as well. Thanks. Fab.
You look so gorgeous blonde!
Thank you for your sweet comment and for watching my video! I appreciate the love
Did u use a color removal for the red 1st to strip out previous color OR did u go straight to bleaching it?? Looks great btw and thx
Hello! I went straight for the bleach. If I would have known about "color oops" at the time -I would have possibly tried that first. I got lucky with the method I went with :) Thank you!
Great job 👌🏻💕
The results after you 2nd bleach was perfect - not sure why you would want to do anything else.
Hiya can you please list the products used as I'd like to follow the steps ☺️ thankyou xx
You are a beautiful girl and look good either way honestly! But I did really love the blonde and I think that was a good choice for you. It look gorgeous on you.
Thank you for the love note & for watching my video! I appreciate it!
Did you bleach your hair prior to the red color. in order to catch the red color?
Thank you for your comment, sorry for such a late response! But yes, my hair was blonde prior to being that red color. I had kept that red color for about 4 months or so before I decided to go back to my blonde. Thank you for watching my video!
Beautiful the color but cute you're hair
awe your wedding pic is beautiful:)
Nay Nay, thank you!!
I am also a hair stylist I Could of easily got you to blonde. Some hair stylists
May not of done it because it takes a full day usually when I'm doing a blonde like yours. Your looking at a full day. But it's possible. Maybe where it was close to your wedding they didn't want to chance it. Glad it turned out so good love it .
I wish I could have known you or someone like you at the time! :) I'm so thankful it turned out well. Thank you for watching
Yeah I use to work in salons and Hated how they wanted you to do rush jobs and they just add as little as possible so you'll keep coming back. So when I went on my own I became a blonde specialist. Because my clients are worth the time. 😊 I wish so too I love doing blonde it's my favourite 😊❤️
looks good!!
Thank you!!
How didn’t your hair snap off or need a few inches cut off?
Great that you did it yourself 😅it would probably have been ok with another 10 min bleach with a bond protection like L'Oréal le blonding i think its feria in USA, in uk it has an olapex dupe in it
Im at the same stage as you were after T18, T14 you did and its so difficult to remove red it doesn't fade when you need it to like they say not enough anyway , nice job🎉
Out of curiosity, how much did the first stuff cost? (I'm wanting to bleach my hair to go back to pink. 😁)
Hello! If I remember correctly all the products I used in this video added up to about $26 ... but that is also because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do so I bought a few extra colors to give me options lol I purchased all my products from Sallys :)
Does anyone know if she used the bleach bath technique where she used shampoo and bleach or if she just miss spoke and used just bleach and developer?
Hey!
For the bleach bath I mixed the bleach and the 30 vol together... When I rinsed it out in the shower, I used the purple shampoo followed by a deep conditioner. :)
Just fyi. It isn't a bleach bath, what you did. That's just straight bleaching.
She did not use a bleach bath. She straight up bleached it. A each bath or soap cap or cocktail shampoo is used with powder bleach, peroxide and shampoo. She doesn't know what she's talking about.
I mean she did say she’s not a professional, jfc.
Oh I've got red hair and wanna dye it back blonde would you be able to write down everything that you used? Please
Love you're video, it gave me hope haha. Is the t18 toner only for blond? My hair is kinda orange/ginger/red. I hate it I want to even it out. I bleached and a couple days later I used a color remover that was all about a week ago, there is still a little red and unevenness. I asked a few beauticians as well they told me similar to what they told you. I don't really wanna live with this color for another 2 months like they said so I need some guidance / advice. My hair is also not too badly damaged because I used a 30 dev and deep condition, protein treatments etc. Any advice will help at this point, seems my research leads me in circles. Thanks girl.
Hello Mila, great questions! At this point its hard to say where you are at in the lifting process. I believe the T14 will help take out the orange tint, but I am not sure what level you were able to lift your hair to, therefore I am not sure if just toning it at this point will do the trick (and get you where you want). It took me two bleach baths to get my hair to the level where i felt a toner would work. I could have definitely waited another week and did a 3rd bleach bath to truly get the results that I wanted but I didn't want to continue to damage my hair and I was happy with the level I achieved after two bleach baths.
Here is an awesome hair stylist that I watched over and over on youtube for months before I actually did my hair:
czcams.com/video/0UOCB7kRCOU/video.html
This particular video helped me understand what is really going on with my hair during the process :)
I am sorry I am unable to give you a straight answer! But I hope Ellie's video helped a little? Thank you for watching! :)
+Taylor Ray
Thanks a lot. I know it's hard to say when u can't really see my hair haha. But appreciate your help. Congrats on the wedding also!
I'm going to test the toner by myself, but I have a question:
after a few times washing my hair, will they look yellow again?
thank you
Natalie Brown, I believe after you tone your hair it does fade. So to maintain keeping your hair at the tone you like, use purple shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week. It all depends what you are wanting :)
Taylor Ray , Thank you :*
You are saying bleach bath but im not seeing amount of shampoo or any shampoo to mixture? Did you add shampoo and at what ratio?
Hello Amanda, thank you for your question! :) I misspoke when I was filming - I did not do a bleach bath. I full on saturated my hair with just the bleach and didn't use any products like shampoo to dilute it. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching!
So I watched your video. And I’m naturally blonde and I’ve dyed my hair dark chocolate red and the salon told me it was gonna cost over 400$ to get my hair back to blonde and it wasn’t guaranteed and if it started frying then they would have to stop and I would have to still pay. So I went to Sally’s and got Color Fix and I got Prism Lites Blue bleach and then I got toners. And I have some purple shampoo to hopefully help out. I will update y’all on the process. I’m about to do the color remover and the bleach.
Hey Krissy, thank you for sharing your comment! I hope you were able to find my video helpful & when you tried it out yourself I hope it came out well! That $400 price tag to get your hair done is worth it if one can afford it, but if you can do it yourself & save that money - why not??
Being a natural redhead i would love to go blonde.
But i find it difficult to pick a color that would suit me.
My cousins have dyed their hair blonde and it just looked off like they were sick lol.
I didn't like it on Lindsey Lohan either..
Lovely, bu not sure why you refer to your 1st two attempts as bleach baths/washes. It looks as though you just did straightforward bleaching - no shampoo added to dilute and so comprise what is generally known as a bleach bath.
I have bleached my hair twice and toned it but it's still brassy 😡😡😕 i toned it with the t18 but think it's the wrong one, I've ordered the t14
Sheila Folan, I'm so sorry to hear that! The process can be tedious and different for everyone. I absolutely love ElleBangs. Here is one of her videos that helped me understand the process more;
czcams.com/video/0UOCB7kRCOU/video.html
If you keep trying, good luck and please take care of your hair during the process! ❤
Taylor Ray yeah I like her videos too and they have helped me a lot. I will give my hair a break and bleach it again. Loved your video. Thanks Hun x
Sheila Folan, no problem and thank you for watching!
ps. the t14 should really help counteract orange. :)
Thanks for you video! hey but I do have a question. After your second bleach bath when did you put the toners in? that same day? or did you give your hair a rest for a couple of days? I really need to know. im following your steps, you hair came out good!
Sheila Folan yeah t14
this is crazy because i have red hair, naturally brown just like you. i am doing this to my hair.. this is a perfect video it helped alot!! but question,, the girl at sallys gave me a 40 developer, AND a 20... should i use the 40 with the bleach? then the 20 with the toner?
Abbey Hill, glad this was helpful! Yes, you can definitely use the 40 vol for bleach and the 20 vol for the toner. (very common) Just be really careful with how long you leave the 40 vol in while bleaching, it will help lift your color more, BUT it is a lot more damaging and can cause a lot of shedding and possibly worse if left in too long. (as with any volume, but 40 is the most potent). There are a lot more videos you can look up on CZcams where girls use 40 vol. :) I would check those out and once you feel confident and ready, go for it and have fun! ❤
Taylor Ray i actually already ended up doing it. i had to bleach twice and i just toned it today. of course i deep conditioned and everything in between. it took about four days. and yes i was careful with the 40 volume! other than the underneath of my hair (like my roots by my neck) being a bit brassy still, my hair is the color i want it and im happy with it :) might end up toning the tiny bit of orange thats left but its hardly noticable! thanks again :)
Taylor Ray dying hair and changing it up is always fun but my hair definitely deserves a break xD
Awesome! Glad to hear! :)
+Abbey Hill Wow, you had to bleach twice with 40 volume?! Holy cow! I had to bleach twice using 30, and I was thinking a couple of minutes ago that I should have just used 40! However, while I have used 40 before, I don't like to use it, but I can't believe you still had to bleach twice. Boy, red is more stubborn than I remember!!
You look like a natural lady gaga with no makeup and trust me that's a good thing . You are very pretty
min yoonjae aka daddy rice omg I knew she looked like someone! it's definitely lady Gaga who I was thinking of
OH MY GOSH, you are super sweet for saying that! Thank you very much for sharing the love & watching my video!
YAS QUEEN OMG THANKS FOR THIS
Thank YOU for watching and spreading the love!
I just did this today. I ran 2 bleaching sessions using the same exact products as the ones u used on ur video with the same portions. my hair feels fried...:( & also it's not blonde it's still orangy even after I toned it with the t14 and T18
Unfortunately that's a risk we take when doing our own hair. Everyone's hair is different. I am sorry you didn't get close to the results you were looking for. :( Hopefully you can get your hair back to a healthy state by using good deep conditioners and possibly going to a salon in a few weeks to see if they can help get you to where you wanted to be! Sorry yours didn't turn out well.... :( Thank you for watching my video though! :)
Girk they told me same thing ( we can't get you back to platinum) okay bet!!! Your final results is where I'm at right now
I'm a red head and it's not really red it's Bergendi and I wanna bleach it and then dye it read for it to be bright red ... will that damage my hair ?
Shantaal burguny... not "bergendi"
I am getting ready to do this. What is the Purple shampoo and conditioner products you used?
Hello! I hope it's not too late - but I like using this one: www.sallybeauty.com/hair/hair-color/hair-color-removers-and-correctors/brass-color-correcting-elixir/SBS-550123.html
--The shampoo and conditioner in that line are what I have used as well to maintain my blonde.
Was the red you had before a permanent red, semi/demi permanent, or both?
Carolina Jeronimo, I had used permanent hair color that I mixed myself from sallys. To maintain the color (red fades crazy fast) I used overtone shampoo and conditioner. I was a red head for about 4 months or so. There were a few times in between using overtone that I did go back in with the permanent color again. I loved my Red/burgundy color but it truly was so hard to maintain. Hope that helped!
Taylor Ray Yes it did, thank you! Because I heard bleaching semi permanent hair color can just drive it deeper, so I was surprised to see it lift so easily for you! But now I understand haha.
beautiful hair
Congratulations love
Thank you Johanna!
i dis it with color oopss my hair was magenta. .did the color opps toned it and i got like a orangy blonde color havent done anything since..September. ..!! what should i do now lol i want an ashy blonde..help!!!
Rose Olivarez, I'm guessing your hair didn't get lifted enough for the toner to work properly. Check out this video from one of my favorite Youtbers, ElleBangs. She does a great job with explaining the process when you are lifting your hair:
czcams.com/video/0UOCB7kRCOU/video.html
As you can see in my video, I judged the second bleach wash on how much my hair lifted the first time around. If I would have tried to tone it after the first bleach session the toner wouldn't have worked. So, I went ahead and bleached a 2nd time which really helped lift my hair to a "toneable" level. (I hope all that makes sense) Even though I was really excited with my results and wanted to put in low lights, I ended up leaving that to a professional. :) If you continue to have any trouble, there's nothing wrong with going to a Salon to get it color corrected/fixed. Good luck and thank you for watching! I hope that helped! :)
Taylor Ray since then been trating me hair ... planning to bleach it amd will tone it and i just hope it work.. && thnks will watch.
i want to try this but i have deep burgundy and i'm not sure if it'd work the same :/
Susie Espino, when in doubt just go to the salon! :) I would have never done this on my own without watching as many videos and researching other people's experiences. It took me a few months to convince myself that I was finally ready to attempt it on my own! I'm glad I did it, and I'm happy with my results. But when in doubt, treat yourself to the salon experience. :)
Taylor - I totally agree with your advice, but the reason I didn't go to the salon was for the same reason you mentioned in your video (I think it was you!!). Some salons won't touch the process of going from red to blonde because they don't want to be responsible for "damaging" the hair. Of course applying 30 volume + bleach will damage the hair, even if it's applied once! However, there are some great "recovery" products out there to help, like Joico K-pak, and other reconstructors.
One video I saw recommended using Olaplex, and I had never heard of that product. Holy cow, they weren't kidding - that product is amazing (I only used "step 3"). After two processes, I would expect my hair to feel close to straw by now (still one to go - the final color), but it feels strong and healthy. However, I did use 2 different reconstructors (proteins), a capillary treatment, a conditioner I recently found (Kristen Ess I think) and Olaplex. Thanks again for sharing your video - I watched a LOT of videos and yours by far was the most helpful!
Very helpful video
