I would love to see a video where you gave each of the digi destined a member of the royal knights or the Olympus 12. I know it doesn’t line up with the number of digimon to digi destined, so you could add the zero 2 cast as well so there will be 12 characters.
I think the finnish translation of the crest of knowledge fits gluttony PERFECTLY! In the finnish dub it's called "tiedonjano" meaning "hunger for knowledge". So maybe Koushiro becomes so addicted to knowledge he's becomes gluttonous about it. He just wants to "feed" himself with more and more knowledge and maybe it becomes so addicting it... turns him.. bad? idk kinda sketchy but you get the point.
I was thinking the same thing! It kinda reminds me of the Seven Deadly Sins anime. From what I recall, The character meant to represent gluttony is actually obsessed with knowledge rather than food! So I think a similar thing could be present in this reimagining!
@@nashtags6791 she's not really obsessed with knowledge, her sin comes from tricking the great deity and the demon king into both of them blessing her with extraordinary abilities, her unique ability Infinity(allowing for infinite casting), and her hunger for the feeling of love(hence why she takes advantage of Escanor constantly) and if Diane hadn't been introduced earlier Merlin would probably have envy as her sin(due to her envy and jealousy of Elizabeth).
Personally, this would be fantastic idea for an 02 focused Sequel to Kizuna. Imagine the original Digidestined, after losing their Digimon, fall under he control of Dark Jenai and the 7 Demon Digimon, and it’s up to 02 group to do something, not only as the ones closest to the 7 who still have Digimon who can fight, but also as the only ones who still poses the power of the Crest’s in someway. It could also be emotional as they not only have to fight their predecessor’s, but also their closest friends in TK and Kari. It also gives a great explanation for why the group would need to use Armor Digivolve again because 1.) They are the forms with the closest ties to the original crests, and 2.) at the very least Codie and Yolei can’t go all out because they can’t DNA Digivolve without TK and Kari, which then in gives give a fantastic reason for the 02 Partners to get new Digivolutions. Hell this could even tie into something interesting with Ken because his Crest of Kindess doesn’t tie in to the original 8 Digidestined, so him and Wormmon may not be as much help until the new evolutions. Did I just go full nerd boy/fanfic writer here? Maybe. I just find this concept fascinating and could lead to some very interesting story potential. Great video as always Karn!
Honestly I think switching TK and Tai's sins would make more sense. TK especially has a lot of rage in the earlier parts of 02 iirc, Daemon is a corrupt Angemon evo, and Tai's arrogance (pride) made Greymon dark digivolve. Belphemon for Matt does make sense though, cause in Hunters the Psychemon evolves to Astamon, which is commonly Belphemon's pre-evolved form.
@@kirinbobarcana Daemon is literally the fallen angel version of Seraphimon. Just like Lilithmon is literally a fallen Ophanimon. These are stated in the Digimon Reference Book. Switching Tai and TK would also give Tai a connection to the one draconic form among the SGDL: Lucemon Shadowlord Mode.
One of the oldest sources for "eight deadly sins" comes from a monk names Evagrius, who wrote a treatise on the Eight Deadly Thoughts. The one that doesn't neatly fit into the seven that were later codified in Latin is often translated as "sadness" or "sorrow" and given Kari's struggles with the Dark Ocean and all that, it hits just right for me. Plus I can imagine the "merged" final demon lord arising like a Kaiju from the waters when Kari gives in to the sorrow. Just a humble offering from a fan writing a PhD on early christianity at the moment. Great stuff!

I could see a situation where after all the other fallen Digidestined have been defeated Kari could have Gatomon absorb everything, be it the other kids, their, partners or just their digivices, then becoming Ogudomon as a sort of final boss.

Another connection for Matt and Belphemon is that one of its pre-evolutions is Astamon. Astamon shows up in the Digimon hunters xros wars series as the evolution of Psychemon who is a dark?/alternate form of gabumon.
Koshirou with the Gluttony is actually perfectly fit, as he constantly sip the Oolong Tea each time he read the mailbox in Bokura no War Game, he even ask for another drink to Taichi's mom
I also think you could switch Mimi and Sora, with love being more focused on giving while greed is more focused on taking. Also lust and purity make for a good inverse and lust fits Mimi a bit more, seeing how she‘s kinda superficial and (especially in her older versions) relies heavily on her looks to get things done
I actually would give Kari GranDracmon, since he’s supposed to be so powerful that even the 7 Great Demon lords can’t interfere with him. I think this works because even though he isn’t a demon lord, he’s clearly equal or stronger than them which works well when you consider that Gatomon was always similar in power or stronger than the OG 7 digidestined before becoming one herself.
There are even suggestions in the null canon that go further. GranDracmon supposedly is the creator of the Dark Area. Its profile also notes that it can seduce angelic Digimon into falling, so it holds a place in fanon as perhaps the one who caused Lucemon's rebellion. Plus, in a way, GranDracmon has long served as a sort of X-Antibody analog to the Myotismon line, which has obvious connections to Gatomon in Adventure. (If you look at his Banda image, his yellow hair, reddish torso, and bestial lower half even look reminiscent of VenomMyotismon.)
I agree that the English dub versions of the crest names work better for Joe and Mimi. Sincerity as in she is always honest and speaks her mind with blunt honesty whether you want to hear it or not, and Joe always trying to be the leader or at least the responsible one that everyone relies on for when he's needed shows his Reliability. Like they say in the show "Good old Reliable Joe".
I think Izzy's knowledge to Gluttony works well. His hunger for knowledge going way too far. His absolute reckless consumption of anything and everything to create new experiences and knowledge.
At one point as a teenager I was writing a fan fiction that centered around the theme of balance, but kept running into trouble with figuring out what could be the “opposites” of the crests. Honestly, these pairings work absolutely perfectly with that whole idea and I love it so much.
I think my one difference would be that I would probably switch Tai and Matt. In the original series Tai is often prideful and Matt often acts a bit wrathful so I feel like it would be an easier switch. I do like the idea of Izzy being gluttony, though, because you can be insatiably hungry for more than just food - you can be a glutton for knowledge too and I think at times that’s actually something Izzy displays in the original series.
Its more cause of how the crests are translated in japanese. The crest of reliability is the crest of sincerity.thou ive seen some translate it as the crest of faith. Which does make sense given that its a cross. Sincerity in japanese was purity.
I always thought that the members of the Olympos 12 would be great partners for the Digidestined. There are a lot of matching themes between the Olympos 12 and the Digidestined's crests and original digimon partners. Anyway really loved the video. 👍
Some have theorized the kids from the epilogue / 3rd generation could be paired up with the Olympos 12! Minus the baby, their numbers do add up & is an interesting spin
I was about to say, if you didn't pair Sora with Lilithmon, I was gonna be upset. Someone else paired her w/ Mimi bc "Purity" but it's just not the same as the common "Love vs Lust" dynamic. Beelzemon works better for Izzy than you think- for anyone, really- if you think about gluttony as always wanting more, never being satisfied with what you have. This is actually what inspired me to make Eosmon the Pillar of Gluttony in Force Three: Menoa just wanted *more time* with Morphomon.
I did a roleplay with a friend where we were partnered with the Demon Lords along with 5 other NPCs. Except we acted as though we were in an inverse world type deal. We were still treated as the bad guys, but the Royal Knights we were fighting against were actual corrupt and were manipulating the other digimon and humans to see us as the villains. Eventually coming to find out that Millenniummon was the one who corrupted the Royal Knights after defeating Yggdrasil and taking its place as the ruler of the Digital World.
Matt's situation with sloth can actually work really well since I think most people agree that Belphemon's rookie form is Psychemon which is a recolor of Gabumon and the Gabumon line and Belphemon line being more Canine forms works really well to strengthen ur point!
There is the fact that Gluttony could be considered as more than food relatively speaking. Izzy may be a glutton for knowledge, trying to find a way to reverse the damage and loss of Tentomon and the others, but with it he sacrifices his own health and stresses out to learn more and more, leading to Gluttony.
Actually, Gluttony could mean the rampant want for Knowledge and understanding and trying to get that knowledge while hurting people. I know it's kind of weak, but the same connection was made with Gula from Kingdom Hearts, and he's considered the sin of Gluttony, even though he's not fat. Plus, Beelzemon isn't fat, so there's some stretching to the word Gluttony in Digimon.
This could perfectly be a plot point, having a counter set of evil digidestined vs the good digidestined Evil being seven demon lords Good could be - Olympians or royal nights or even just the adventure protagonists

But 1 idea that came to me that I want to see happen is TK giving into Pride and Despair (Opposite of Hope) and biomerging with Angemon and Devimon to become Lucemon, representing his Light of an Angel & his Darkness of the Devil. (Definitely putting this in my fanfiction journal)
Personally I feel they should have paired up like this, Courage = Wrath Friendship = Envy Love = Lust Reliability = Sloth Knowledge = Gluttony Sincerity = Pride Hope = Greed Each one corrupting the digivolution line i.e.Agumon becoming black Agumon then following black tyranomon line and having Kari being the light that removes the corruption from them. Separating the sin from them creating the demon lords.

This is something that's a good idea and a question to think about. Now I want to see a Digi destined with other Digimon groups like the Three Musketeers or the Royal Knights or whatever other group.
With Izzy I could see his darkness manifesting as a glutton for knowledge, seeking out forbidden knowledge digitising people and turning them into Digimon/human hybrids.
Stuff like this makes me wish they would go all out for a season one day where its aimed at an older audience and touches on these dark themes. There is a lot of stuff in the Digimon lore that is very dark and a more adult-aimed show that uses these things could be incredible.
These are pretty good and actually now I kind of want a series where there’s a group of 7 evil Digidestined partnered with the seven demon lords most of them have a full through line like Leviamon commonly being the Otamamon line and of course Lillithmon being the dark Digivolution of Angewomon originally

I'm well surprised with this video. Not what I imagined, but still really cool. Reminds me Digimon Data Squad on PS2 where the partners could unlock the Demon Lords as Digivolution. Really like the concept, especially for Sora and TK. I also thought of maaaaaaybe integrating GrandDracmon, as it is said to have power equal, if not superior to the Demon Lords, but Ogudomon works really well. And after watching this video, I stand even more by my idea of letting the villains from the first season be partners for the digidestined, with reformed digivolutions lines
Now that you've done the demon lords for digidestined. I've just thought of it and I would love to see the olimpus twelve for the adventure + 02 cast Dunno how well they would fit though
I'd do this a little bit differently... some of those are a stretch to make them work. Sora, Mimi, T.K., and Kari I think all work well so I won't even bother changing those. So the opposite of Reliability would be Sloth. Reliability being someone you can count on to help you out whenever you need them while Sloth is just laziness, they rely on others but aren't willing to give anything back in return. Matt I would give Wrath because that's both the opposite of Friendship and Matt also tends to be very easy angered, especially early on in Adventure. He would start to relax and work better with others later on but Matt did often lash out keeping people from getting close to him, he was more of a loner and that's essentially what Wrath is. Izzy with Envy. Envy is a form of jealousy and Izzy has always been kind of an awkward kid who wanted to make friends but doesn't easily connect with others. Joe is a nerd too but he at least tries to be social. Izzy has even expressed being jealous of the other kids for one reason or another. He got over this when he realized how much the others are jealous of him. Tai I'm give Gluttony because both he and Augumon, mostly Augumon, seem to always be hungry, thinking about food at odd times. So Gluttony fits with his personality... it doesn't quite work as an opposite of Courage the way the others did but I don't think any of the Crests really work in that regard. These I think work better with the personalities of the kids. Tai is admittedly the weakest connection here but that could also be a polar opposite to him having the strongest connection to Agumon.
Actually, I wouldn't mind if this was a plot in a future digimon series. like, what if the seven demon lords, after being beaten by the digidestined, decided to ally themselves with a group of humans to? I think it would be interesting to see what kinds of people the "darkdigidestined" would be.
While I do agree that some of these are stretched, they are nevertheless great choices, and I believe they fit most of them really well. If you wanted some more “Demon Lords”, sometimes Grand Dracumon and MaloMyotismon are said to have powers that rival or are slightly below the 7 Demon Lords, and if you wanted another sin, in some theologies, Vanity is considered a sin, so maybe crest of Vanity with a Grand Dracumon as a partner? Great video otherwise, and your editing is top notch. It kept me invested in the video the whole time.
I really like having Belphemon as the opposite of Friendship. Friendship requires effort to connect, create bonds, and maintain a relationship to another person. In opposition of that, Sloth does nothing for others and only cares about their own comfort. Rage Mode can also work to represent the frustration of having to maintain relations they don’t care about (friends and brother in Matt’s case) and will lash out to separate what little connection the other person may feel.
If I were to make this list instead: Pride: TK, this is one of two that fits TK(and Tai) Wrath: Tai, I know that Daemon is one of the defacto Evo of Myotismon, but as mentioned Daemon is Fire-based which fits Tai better Greed: Sora, I could see Matt and Sora being either Greed(coveting their friends, almost like a dragon with their hoard) or Sloth(I think Murmukusmon fits Sora best out of all the Demon Lord-class Digimon) Lust: Mimi, I think it fits better than Sora, I mean look at Lillymon and Rosemon Envy: Joe, both are associated with Water/Ice, and I could see Joe becoming envious of those who do better than him Gluttony: Izzy, as mentioned 'Lord of Fly', and Izzy is a Glutton for Knowledge(like Beelzemon being a Glutton for Battle) Sloth: Matt, I don't think any of the Digi-destined fit with Sloth, but as stated above I think Matt and Sora can both fit for Greed, however Matt has a more beast-ly partner(having a wolf and all) If we're including Kari and the rest of the Demon Lord class in this, I think Kari would have Bagramon or Deathmon, both of which are Fallen Angels, it's just that which she has depends on what her role would be, if it's to set things right then Deathmon, if not then Bagramon.
I personally would have given Izzy the crown of Greed because I’d feel it works in the sense of him wanting to horde knowledge while disregarding all else. That aside, great video! Personally something I’d be interested to see is something like you creating an original group of digidestined and what partners/evolution lines/possible mode changes you’d give them. Maybe even what sort of character growth they’d go through to achieve further levels of evolution. Alternatively, I think it’d be cool to do more crossover stuff like the Pokemon and Tekken videos where you talk about what Digimon partners and evolution lines you’d give to characters from other franchises.
With gluttony it basically means over-indulgence and over-consumption, usually of food, drink, or wealth items. In Izzy’s case, it could be his desire for knowledge, power, control. If you think about he could be a cross between Dark Gennai and Kurata.
Ngl this is such a good idea for a 02 movie. We already have Deamon set up in 02 as a threat never truly dealt with so I could see him and the demon lords corrupting the original chosen children. Then leaving it up to their successors to take the crest they inherited and remind them of their value. I mean I personally feel you could remove Kari from the group as she’s to pure so she can fight with them. Maybe include Willas as a 6th kid to the group to help them combining with Cody. Also personally I would change Tai and Tks. I feel tk should have Deamon not just because it’s a Digimon his team fought personally but also it’s a fallen seraphimon so it would fit him perfectly and Lucamon would fit for Tai as it’s the leader of the demon lords and also I feel the sin of pride fits a dark reflection of Tai as his courageous spirit becomes more about proving his power and strength then fighting for good. Kinda like early DBZ vegeta with the idea that his pride blinds his courage but that’s just me! Still great video
Fun fact: there were originally actually 9 Deadly Sins; the traditional 7 we know today, plus Vanity(which was absorbed into Pride by one of the Pope at the time) as well as Melencholy, which I think was correlated to Sloth. It's been a minute since I looked into the subject tbh.
Gluttony for Izzy might be a better fit than you think, because in the "Seven Deadly Sins" Anime Merlin, the sin of gluttony, is actually lusting after knowledge to an unhealthy extend and there was that one episode, where Izzy is tricked into believing that his own thirst for knowledge makes him a greedy and selfish person.
I know this comment will probably get lost among many others but I have been suffering from an obssesive-centered OCD for the past few years and this kind of videos help me out a lot, since I love digimon and the "What If" style stimulates mi imagination so that I can keep my mind busy with something which isn't harmful for me. Great video. Karn Ex 7:35 you say Izzy's is the weakest one that I think it's actually a strong connection to gluttony. You just have to think of gluttony in a slightly different way. Gluttony doesn't just have to be food he could be a glutton for knowledge and keeping all the knowledge for itself. I can't see with Izzy if he got that Digimon and it digivolve again it will be a digimon that steal knowledge to satisfy his appetite.
Izzy actually works really well with Gluttony, in the episode where MegaKabuterimon digivolves for the first time, Vademon accuses Izzy of being to greedy with his curiosity, so nice pick! Also a couple video suggestions: There are 4 Digimon Sovereigns, and 4 Tamers who can Biomerge Digivolve… What Sovereign would get partnered up with each Tamer? Also, there are 13 Royal Knights, and 12 01/02 Digidestined (13 counting Meiko), so you could match up the Royal Knights with the Digidestined… maybe a bit of a stretch, considering Omnimon is already paired with both Tai and Matt at the same time.
If we're going with What-if timelines, what if Mercuremon from Frontier had won his fight against Takuya? He had absorbed and fused with Seraphimon's data, held the recorded attacks of most of the legendary warriors, and would posses both the human and beast spirits of steel. Since Kouji would be off fighting against Duskmon, Mercuremon would be easily able to defeat the remaining three kids and take their spirits as well. After that Beowolfmon and Velgrmon probably wouldn't pose much of a challenge. Cherubimon was pretty damn buffed before the final battle, but knowing Mercuremon, he would probably absorb the data of Ophanimon first, then go after the fallen angel. Now the question remains, would he be able to oppose the Royal Knights and Lucemon with all 20 spirits and the data of the three great angels?
I always thought it was weird Leviamon was envy and Beelzemon was gluttony when it feels like they should switch. Leviamon is said that it could swallow the digital world whole where Beelzemon, in tamers at least as Impmon, was always envious of the others abilities to digivolve. I know their name sakes play a part in which code crown they are associated with those two just always where the weirdest ones to me.
I'd love to see a sequel video to this where you make a full evolution line for these choices, either starting with their normal rookies or giving them new ones that still fit the vibe of the original show
This concept and idea was so good that I'm revisiting this video. I think perhaps Karn could make a sequel to this video with custom art for the Digimon, assuming it performed well before. The comments had some amazing ideas iterating upon the idea he sparked.
Just on Mimi for a second, since you were calling it an inversion, I got curious and took a screenshot of the crown of Greed and inverted it. The result was green, so in a sense the purple actually fitted perfectly.
Doesn't have to be but in the Bible it does specifically relate to "over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items, particularly as status symbols." Either interpretation of Gluttony works for Izzy though.
I actually like the idea of Mimi becoming corrupted. I have always though, and have seen others express the idea, that Mimi seemed like the most likely to succumb to darkness due to her personality and vanity. I think Sloth and Greed might be her most likely Sins.
You should do the opposite of this (Human Digimon antagonists [Ex-antagonists included] with the OG Digimon adventure partner Digimon and the connected crests (If I had to guess the line-up would probably be something along the lines of Yukio Oikawa, Maki Himekawa, Ivan [Data squad], Akihiro Kurata, Nanami [Data squad], Kouki Tsubasa, Mitsuo Yamaki (he was technically an antagonist), and Ken Ichijoji)
This was a really cool idea that never crossed my mind, and it's surprising how well it fits with the original 7(8). However, I would swap your choices for Tai and Matt. Think of it this way: if courage is what gives someone the drive to act, sloth would be the exact opposite and make them complacent. Another interpretation would be looking at Skullgreymon dark evolution, as Tai forced it to happening by taking the easier route instead of following the intended way understanding your crest and embracing its meaning. And wrath might as well be what breaks bonds and keep people apart, fitting the opposite of friendship. But more importantly, I think Matt fits the idea of wrath so well, I could totally see a dark version of him rejecting the others, being swallowed by loneliness and ultimately falling into an unstoppable rage.
I think Izzy + Gluttony is stronger then you think. In Nanatsu no Taizai the character Merlin holds the title of 'Boars Sin of Gluttony' and too has an obsession with consuming knowledge. In this same way it could prey on Izzy's desire to gain information and be a twisting of his crest.
This is before watching the video so if you mentioned this ooops Just ready the title I pictured a mini arc, if not full season , of kari being evil because of the whole dark ocean storyline and either A. Gatomon being forced to do bad/be corrupted again or B. Gatomon having to pull Kari out of it before she loses another friend. ( While kairi replaces her with a lady devimom or if you wanted to something different a mephishmon)

After watching a video by Nostalgia925, came out a few days after this one, I think GrandDracmon could be Kari's dark partner. Maybe using her when the 7 lords try and take the other digidestined as his own plan to halt theirs as while he can take any of them 1vs1 he'd need the extra power to keep them in check from potentially ruining his own plans. So he could make a deal with the devil with her to aid him in order to crush the others 'for their own sake'
At first I thought this was Edgy Karn just being Edgy Karn, but the more he got into the methodology of the Crowns and connecting them to the crests, the smarter the whole video became.
So as a thought experiment, I'm trying to see how they can get onto the 'path of demon lords' in 01. What episodes were they challenged and can make the wrong choice. I'm just going to use Dub names here. I think for Joe there are three moments that stand out where he could have gone in a different direction. The first one being during WereGarurumon's debut. All of the blame being put on him by Matt, but in the end he is being held by Vegiemon, but still tells Ikkakumon to blast him. Instead of Selflessness here, I think he should've been wrathful or prideful. The second would be trying to get into the fog bank where he was ambushed and almost drowned. He chose selflessness again here to save TK, where again I think pride would be appropriate here. Finally the third is when talking to his brother about being a doctor. If ever there was a time to acknowledge Joe's hard work at school and reject even the notion that the medical field may not be for him, it's here. I'd think Pride would shine again here. Mimi's is really easy. She became Princess Mimi and let the power get to her head. She didn't 'fall' per se, but if she was left unchecked there, rejected Sora's advice, and says the adventure is over for her, it's easy to see greed encapsulating her. Sora's is really fun to theorycraft. And for her the two episodes in question would be when she's captured by Datamon and when Birdramon digivolved. Datamon explained to her that he would use the clone Sora, the Crest of Love, and Biyomon to defeat Etemon. This could very easily turn into 'love is a weapon' idea in Sora's head. With that in mind we get to the evolution episode where she's upset about what happened with her mother and with DemiDevimon's words. If she accepts DemiDevimon's words that she can't love, and rejects her mother's reasoning, I can see her coming to the conclusion that THAT version of love sucks. She needs a more useful, darker, version of it. Lust. For Izzy. Overconsumption of Knowledge. I can see that as a gateway to Gluttony. Several times has he chosen Knowledge over the current situation. Knowledge over Mimi in the pyramid (until he decided to help.) Knowledge over Tentomon in the Vademon episode (until he snapped out of it.) In a way he's fine for Greed as well. I'd give him a Major in Gluttony and a Minor in greed. He's a couple coin flips away from bad decisions. Or if he didn't have friends to help him out he'd be prime material for Gluttony. Matt is . . . immensely wrathful. In his first fight with Tai he through the first punch the moment things didn't go his way. He snapped at Sora when she took out the digimon that might have led them to find TK. He got wound up for a fight so easily against Tai at the end. But near the end he gave up. He was going to give up to the darkness and just. . .be. Sloth indeed. I would say the situations are pretty tied. My tie breaker is that Belphemon himself has Rage Mode. Which sort of covers it all. TK has arguments with Patamon. He either apologized for them or conceded the point. If he never does that and only believes in point of view, Pride can be very easy for him. I don't think there are many inciting incidents for him. He has the arguments and he has Patamon dying. 02 showed that Patamon dying scarred him enough to HATE darkness. And he's let his anger overflow on multiple occasions. TK has expressed disappointment in Matt (for abandoning him) and has gone into wanting Tai as an older brother instead. I could see that leaning to Envy when Tai becomes all about Kari during the later stages of the series. Tai. He definitely had the obvious pride comparisons when he got his crest. If he never course corrects, BAM. Inciting incidents would be failing to rescue Sora out of fear, reacting to Kari's illness, being proclaimed leader by the group, standing up to Piedmon, and leaving Kari behind to return to the digital world. Envy, Pride, Wrath. Those are what's left for my thought experiment. Joe - Wrath, Pride TK - Wrath, Pride, Envy Tai - Wrath, Pride So at this point I'd give TK Envy by default. And it's between Tai and Joe. This is how I'd rate the characters. Joe (Pride) > Tai (Pride) > Tai (Wrath) > Joe (Wrath) As far as interesting characters go. So I'll go with that. Apocalymon comes on the scene, destroying the crests, and deleting the Digidestined. They don't come back with positive thoughts, they come back with negative. And they come back with something unexpected. The Demon Lords. Their path to evil, to sin, complete. They destroy Apocalymon.
On an instinctual level I want to give Lilithmon to Mimi just because she's a possible evolution for Lilymon in Cyber Sleuth, but I can't deny the way you sorted the sins with the crests was spot on! These all feel like believable vices the Adventure cast could fall into.
Jumping off the idea idk what I'd like more each demon lord possessing one of the digidestens at a time to stretch the story or some brand new kids coming in to be there opposites
Even If the crown of wrath didn't match up so well with the crest of courage, it would have been perfect for Taichi. I mean, that's kinda part of where SkullGreymon came from.
Tai teaming up with Daemon/Creepymon (Who came up with that name...) is quite irony, remembering that Manga where his partner was V-Dramon instead of Agumon! As for Kairi, not quite sure of Ogudomon... But there is an alternative that is said as powerful as Demon Lords; GranDracmon.

As I see it, greed is the absolute love for possessions and wealth over others, while lust is the loss of purity and the extreme carnal sincerity (see what I'm doing here? )
8:05 Well, Izzy does have a tendency to abandon himself sometimes, and try to take all the mind work by himself. He's also capable of drinking an entire tank full of OOLONG CHA These are great but if it wasn't for the bug connection with Beelzebumon I'd swap gluttony (Beelze is solitary, no friendship) and sloth (vs knowledge and hard work). Also, how about BelialVamdemon for Ken? Belial is pretty known for his cruelty, which would be the opposite of Kindness, and he's technically a Demon Lord, even if not one of the SGDL.
Digimon world data squad on ps2 was the first digimon game I got to play so this one really hits home as lucemon and the other demon lords were the main bosses of it and I sunk over way over 100 hours into it.
You could easily say the future version of Izzy spent too much time in front of the computer eating fast foods for practicality and his sedentary lifestyle made him obese, tying him to gluttony

Seeing how you made this video. It's clear you'll make a version of this for the 02 Kids, Tamers, Frontier and Data Squad. And it does remind me of how you practically confirmed a What if Dark/Corrupted Sprits video for Frontier is in the works. Which I'm looking forward to the most. As again, the fact that FGO's Ashwatthama when in his armor looks like a corrupted version of Agunimon works well. Especially with how he is associated with fire in game. Namely the flames of rage.
I'm actually not entirely sure I will. There are some groups that might work but I certainly want to give other Digimon groups a try with other Digidestned. Frontier Corrupted Spirits is indeed coming, waiting on an artist :)
I would argue Izzy's thirst for knowlegde could be a very good gateway for gluttony tbh. Him gathering more and more knowledge like a glutton would food.

I think the finnish translation of the crest of knowledge fits gluttony PERFECTLY! In the finnish dub it's called "tiedonjano" meaning "hunger for knowledge". So maybe Koushiro becomes so addicted to knowledge he's becomes gluttonous about it. He just wants to "feed" himself with more and more knowledge and maybe it becomes so addicting it... turns him.. bad? idk kinda sketchy but you get the point.
I was thinking the same thing! It kinda reminds me of the Seven Deadly Sins anime. From what I recall, The character meant to represent gluttony is actually obsessed with knowledge rather than food! So I think a similar thing could be present in this reimagining!

@@nashtags6791 she's not really obsessed with knowledge, her sin comes from tricking the great deity and the demon king into both of them blessing her with extraordinary abilities, her unique ability Infinity(allowing for infinite casting), and her hunger for the feeling of love(hence why she takes advantage of Escanor constantly) and if Diane hadn't been introduced earlier Merlin would probably have envy as her sin(due to her envy and jealousy of Elizabeth).

Personally, this would be fantastic idea for an 02 focused Sequel to Kizuna. Imagine the original Digidestined, after losing their Digimon, fall under he control of Dark Jenai and the 7 Demon Digimon, and it’s up to 02 group to do something, not only as the ones closest to the 7 who still have Digimon who can fight, but also as the only ones who still poses the power of the Crest’s in someway. It could also be emotional as they not only have to fight their predecessor’s, but also their closest friends in TK and Kari. It also gives a great explanation for why the group would need to use Armor Digivolve again because 1.) They are the forms with the closest ties to the original crests, and 2.) at the very least Codie and Yolei can’t go all out because they can’t DNA Digivolve without TK and Kari, which then in gives give a fantastic reason for the 02 Partners to get new Digivolutions. Hell this could even tie into something interesting with Ken because his Crest of Kindess doesn’t tie in to the original 8 Digidestined, so him and Wormmon may not be as much help until the new evolutions.
Did I just go full nerd boy/fanfic writer here? Maybe. I just find this concept fascinating and could lead to some very interesting story potential.

Honestly I think switching TK and Tai's sins would make more sense. TK especially has a lot of rage in the earlier parts of 02 iirc, Daemon is a corrupt Angemon evo, and Tai's arrogance (pride) made Greymon dark digivolve. Belphemon for Matt does make sense though, cause in Hunters the Psychemon evolves to Astamon, which is commonly Belphemon's pre-evolved form.

Switching Tai and TK would also give Tai a connection to the one draconic form among the SGDL: Lucemon Shadowlord Mode.

One of the oldest sources for "eight deadly sins" comes from a monk names Evagrius, who wrote a treatise on the Eight Deadly Thoughts. The one that doesn't neatly fit into the seven that were later codified in Latin is often translated as "sadness" or "sorrow" and given Kari's struggles with the Dark Ocean and all that, it hits just right for me. Plus I can imagine the "merged" final demon lord arising like a Kaiju from the waters when Kari gives in to the sorrow. Just a humble offering from a fan writing a PhD on early christianity at the moment. Great stuff!

I could see a situation where after all the other fallen Digidestined have been defeated Kari could have Gatomon absorb everything, be it the other kids, their, partners or just their digivices, then becoming Ogudomon as a sort of final boss.

Koshirou with the Gluttony is actually perfectly fit, as he constantly sip the Oolong Tea each time he read the mailbox in Bokura no War Game, he even ask for another drink to Taichi's mom
I also think you could switch Mimi and Sora, with love being more focused on giving while greed is more focused on taking. Also lust and purity make for a good inverse and lust fits Mimi a bit more, seeing how she‘s kinda superficial and (especially in her older versions) relies heavily on her looks to get things done
Another thing that makes Lucemon fit T.K. amazingly is that the Patamon line and Lucemon line link together in the Digimon Cyber Sleuth games
I actually would give Kari GranDracmon, since he’s supposed to be so powerful that even the 7 Great Demon lords can’t interfere with him. I think this works because even though he isn’t a demon lord, he’s clearly equal or stronger than them which works well when you consider that Gatomon was always similar in power or stronger than the OG 7 digidestined before becoming one herself.

There are even suggestions in the null canon that go further. GranDracmon supposedly is the creator of the Dark Area. Its profile also notes that it can seduce angelic Digimon into falling, so it holds a place in fanon as perhaps the one who caused Lucemon's rebellion.
Plus, in a way, GranDracmon has long served as a sort of X-Antibody analog to the Myotismon line, which has obvious connections to Gatomon in Adventure. (If you look at his Banda image, his yellow hair, reddish torso, and bestial lower half even look reminiscent of VenomMyotismon.)
I agree that the English dub versions of the crest names work better for Joe and Mimi. Sincerity as in she is always honest and speaks her mind with blunt honesty whether you want to hear it or not, and Joe always trying to be the leader or at least the responsible one that everyone relies on for when he's needed shows his Reliability. Like they say in the show "Good old Reliable Joe".

Of course there’s that 1 season 2 episode where The crest of reliability was change to represent honesty and that confused the hell out of me.
I think Izzy's knowledge to Gluttony works well. His hunger for knowledge going way too far. His absolute reckless consumption of anything and everything to create new experiences and knowledge.
At one point as a teenager I was writing a fan fiction that centered around the theme of balance, but kept running into trouble with figuring out what could be the “opposites” of the crests. Honestly, these pairings work absolutely perfectly with that whole idea and I love it so much.
I think my one difference would be that I would probably switch Tai and Matt. In the original series Tai is often prideful and Matt often acts a bit wrathful so I feel like it would be an easier switch. I do like the idea of Izzy being gluttony, though, because you can be insatiably hungry for more than just food - you can be a glutton for knowledge too and I think at times that’s actually something Izzy displays in the original series.
I really enjoy these "What If" videos. Not to mention it's a great way to explore the characters in different ways.

Its more cause of how the crests are translated in japanese. The crest of reliability is the crest of sincerity.thou ive seen some translate it as the crest of faith. Which does make sense given that its a cross. Sincerity in japanese was purity.
I always thought that the members of the Olympos 12 would be great partners for the Digidestined. There are a lot of matching themes between the Olympos 12 and the Digidestined's crests and original digimon partners.

Some have theorized the kids from the epilogue / 3rd generation could be paired up with the Olympos 12! Minus the baby, their numbers do add up & is an interesting spin
I was about to say, if you didn't pair Sora with Lilithmon, I was gonna be upset. Someone else paired her w/ Mimi bc "Purity" but it's just not the same as the common "Love vs Lust" dynamic.
Beelzemon works better for Izzy than you think- for anyone, really- if you think about gluttony as always wanting more, never being satisfied with what you have. This is actually what inspired me to make Eosmon the Pillar of Gluttony in Force Three: Menoa just wanted *more time* with Morphomon.
I did a roleplay with a friend where we were partnered with the Demon Lords along with 5 other NPCs. Except we acted as though we were in an inverse world type deal. We were still treated as the bad guys, but the Royal Knights we were fighting against were actual corrupt and were manipulating the other digimon and humans to see us as the villains. Eventually coming to find out that Millenniummon was the one who corrupted the Royal Knights after defeating Yggdrasil and taking its place as the ruler of the Digital World.
Matt's situation with sloth can actually work really well since I think most people agree that Belphemon's rookie form is Psychemon which is a recolor of Gabumon and the Gabumon line and Belphemon line being more Canine forms works really well to strengthen ur point!
There is the fact that Gluttony could be considered as more than food relatively speaking. Izzy may be a glutton for knowledge, trying to find a way to reverse the damage and loss of Tentomon and the others, but with it he sacrifices his own health and stresses out to learn more and more, leading to Gluttony.
Actually, Gluttony could mean the rampant want for Knowledge and understanding and trying to get that knowledge while hurting people. I know it's kind of weak, but the same connection was made with Gula from Kingdom Hearts, and he's considered the sin of Gluttony, even though he's not fat. Plus, Beelzemon isn't fat, so there's some stretching to the word Gluttony in Digimon.

Each one corrupting the digivolution line i.e.Agumon becoming black Agumon then following black tyranomon line and having Kari being the light that removes the corruption from them. Separating the sin from them creating the demon lords.

This is something that's a good idea and a question to think about. Now I want to see a Digi destined with other Digimon groups like the Three Musketeers or the Royal Knights or whatever other group.
With Izzy I could see his darkness manifesting as a glutton for knowledge, seeking out forbidden knowledge digitising people and turning them into Digimon/human hybrids.
Stuff like this makes me wish they would go all out for a season one day where its aimed at an older audience and touches on these dark themes. There is a lot of stuff in the Digimon lore that is very dark and a more adult-aimed show that uses these things could be incredible.
These are pretty good and actually now I kind of want a series where there’s a group of 7 evil Digidestined partnered with the seven demon lords most of them have a full through line like Leviamon commonly being the Otamamon line and of course Lillithmon being the dark Digivolution of Angewomon originally

I'm well surprised with this video. Not what I imagined, but still really cool. Reminds me Digimon Data Squad on PS2 where the partners could unlock the Demon Lords as Digivolution. Really like the concept, especially for Sora and TK.
I also thought of maaaaaaybe integrating GrandDracmon, as it is said to have power equal, if not superior to the Demon Lords, but Ogudomon works really well.

I'd do this a little bit differently... some of those are a stretch to make them work.
Sora, Mimi, T.K., and Kari I think all work well so I won't even bother changing those.
So the opposite of Reliability would be Sloth. Reliability being someone you can count on to help you out whenever you need them while Sloth is just laziness, they rely on others but aren't willing to give anything back in return.
Matt I would give Wrath because that's both the opposite of Friendship and Matt also tends to be very easy angered, especially early on in Adventure. He would start to relax and work better with others later on but Matt did often lash out keeping people from getting close to him, he was more of a loner and that's essentially what Wrath is.
Izzy with Envy. Envy is a form of jealousy and Izzy has always been kind of an awkward kid who wanted to make friends but doesn't easily connect with others. Joe is a nerd too but he at least tries to be social. Izzy has even expressed being jealous of the other kids for one reason or another. He got over this when he realized how much the others are jealous of him.
Tai I'm give Gluttony because both he and Augumon, mostly Augumon, seem to always be hungry, thinking about food at odd times. So Gluttony fits with his personality... it doesn't quite work as an opposite of Courage the way the others did but I don't think any of the Crests really work in that regard.
These I think work better with the personalities of the kids. Tai is admittedly the weakest connection here but that could also be a polar opposite to him having the strongest connection to Agumon.
Actually, I wouldn't mind if this was a plot in a future digimon series. like, what if the seven demon lords, after being beaten by the digidestined, decided to ally themselves with a group of humans to? I think it would be interesting to see what kinds of people the "darkdigidestined" would be.

While I do agree that some of these are stretched, they are nevertheless great choices, and I believe they fit most of them really well. If you wanted some more “Demon Lords”, sometimes Grand Dracumon and MaloMyotismon are said to have powers that rival or are slightly below the 7 Demon Lords, and if you wanted another sin, in some theologies, Vanity is considered a sin, so maybe crest of Vanity with a Grand Dracumon as a partner?

I really like having Belphemon as the opposite of Friendship. Friendship requires effort to connect, create bonds, and maintain a relationship to another person. In opposition of that, Sloth does nothing for others and only cares about their own comfort. Rage Mode can also work to represent the frustration of having to maintain relations they don’t care about (friends and brother in Matt’s case) and will lash out to separate what little connection the other person may feel.
If I were to make this list instead:
Pride: TK, this is one of two that fits TK(and Tai)
Wrath: Tai, I know that Daemon is one of the defacto Evo of Myotismon, but as mentioned Daemon is Fire-based which fits Tai better
Greed: Sora, I could see Matt and Sora being either Greed(coveting their friends, almost like a dragon with their hoard) or Sloth(I think Murmukusmon fits Sora best out of all the Demon Lord-class Digimon)
Lust: Mimi, I think it fits better than Sora, I mean look at Lillymon and Rosemon
Envy: Joe, both are associated with Water/Ice, and I could see Joe becoming envious of those who do better than him
Gluttony: Izzy, as mentioned 'Lord of Fly', and Izzy is a Glutton for Knowledge(like Beelzemon being a Glutton for Battle)
Sloth: Matt, I don't think any of the Digi-destined fit with Sloth, but as stated above I think Matt and Sora can both fit for Greed, however Matt has a more beast-ly partner(having a wolf and all)
If we're including Kari and the rest of the Demon Lord class in this, I think Kari would have Bagramon or Deathmon, both of which are Fallen Angels, it's just that which she has depends on what her role would be, if it's to set things right then Deathmon, if not then Bagramon.
I personally would have given Izzy the crown of Greed because I’d feel it works in the sense of him wanting to horde knowledge while disregarding all else.
That aside, great video! Personally something I’d be interested to see is something like you creating an original group of digidestined and what partners/evolution lines/possible mode changes you’d give them. Maybe even what sort of character growth they’d go through to achieve further levels of evolution.
Alternatively, I think it’d be cool to do more crossover stuff like the Pokemon and Tekken videos where you talk about what Digimon partners and evolution lines you’d give to characters from other franchises.
I believe Izzy is a perfect match for glutenny for reason being when you seek knowledge you crave it and have deep hunger to learn more
With gluttony it basically means over-indulgence and over-consumption, usually of food, drink, or wealth items.
In Izzy’s case, it could be his desire for knowledge, power, control. If you think about he could be a cross between Dark Gennai and Kurata.
Ngl this is such a good idea for a 02 movie. We already have Deamon set up in 02 as a threat never truly dealt with so I could see him and the demon lords corrupting the original chosen children. Then leaving it up to their successors to take the crest they inherited and remind them of their value. I mean I personally feel you could remove Kari from the group as she’s to pure so she can fight with them. Maybe include Willas as a 6th kid to the group to help them combining with Cody. Also personally I would change Tai and Tks. I feel tk should have Deamon not just because it’s a Digimon his team fought personally but also it’s a fallen seraphimon so it would fit him perfectly and Lucamon would fit for Tai as it’s the leader of the demon lords and also I feel the sin of pride fits a dark reflection of Tai as his courageous spirit becomes more about proving his power and strength then fighting for good. Kinda like early DBZ vegeta with the idea that his pride blinds his courage but that’s just me! Still great video

Fun fact: there were originally actually 9 Deadly Sins; the traditional 7 we know today, plus Vanity(which was absorbed into Pride by one of the Pope at the time) as well as Melencholy, which I think was correlated to Sloth. It's been a minute since I looked into the subject tbh.
Gluttony for Izzy might be a better fit than you think, because in the "Seven Deadly Sins" Anime Merlin, the sin of gluttony, is actually lusting after knowledge to an unhealthy extend and there was that one episode, where Izzy is tricked into believing that his own thirst for knowledge makes him a greedy and selfish person.
I know this comment will probably get lost among many others but I have been suffering from an obssesive-centered OCD for the past few years and this kind of videos help me out a lot, since I love digimon and the "What If" style stimulates mi imagination so that I can keep my mind busy with something which isn't harmful for me. Great video. Karn Ex 7:35 you say Izzy's is the weakest one that I think it's actually a strong connection to gluttony. You just have to think of gluttony in a slightly different way. Gluttony doesn't just have to be food he could be a glutton for knowledge and keeping all the knowledge for itself. I can't see with Izzy if he got that Digimon and it digivolve again it will be a digimon that steal knowledge to satisfy his appetite.
Izzy actually works really well with Gluttony, in the episode where MegaKabuterimon digivolves for the first time, Vademon accuses Izzy of being to greedy with his curiosity, so nice pick!
Also a couple video suggestions: There are 4 Digimon Sovereigns, and 4 Tamers who can Biomerge Digivolve… What Sovereign would get partnered up with each Tamer? Also, there are 13 Royal Knights, and 12 01/02 Digidestined (13 counting Meiko), so you could match up the Royal Knights with the Digidestined… maybe a bit of a stretch, considering Omnimon is already paired with both Tai and Matt at the same time.
If we're going with What-if timelines, what if Mercuremon from Frontier had won his fight against Takuya?
He had absorbed and fused with Seraphimon's data, held the recorded attacks of most of the legendary warriors, and would posses both the human and beast spirits of steel.
Since Kouji would be off fighting against Duskmon, Mercuremon would be easily able to defeat the remaining three kids and take their spirits as well. After that Beowolfmon and Velgrmon probably wouldn't pose much of a challenge. Cherubimon was pretty damn buffed before the final battle, but knowing Mercuremon, he would probably absorb the data of Ophanimon first, then go after the fallen angel.
Now the question remains, would he be able to oppose the Royal Knights and Lucemon with all 20 spirits and the data of the three great angels?
I always thought it was weird Leviamon was envy and Beelzemon was gluttony when it feels like they should switch. Leviamon is said that it could swallow the digital world whole where Beelzemon, in tamers at least as Impmon, was always envious of the others abilities to digivolve. I know their name sakes play a part in which code crown they are associated with those two just always where the weirdest ones to me.

I'd love to see a sequel video to this where you make a full evolution line for these choices, either starting with their normal rookies or giving them new ones that still fit the vibe of the original show

I think perhaps Karn could make a sequel to this video with custom art for the Digimon, assuming it performed well before. The comments had some amazing ideas iterating upon the idea he sparked.
Just on Mimi for a second, since you were calling it an inversion, I got curious and took a screenshot of the crown of Greed and inverted it. The result was green, so in a sense the purple actually fitted perfectly.
If you add the 02 kids you could do a "What if the Olympus 12 were partners"

GLUTTONY doesn't always have to be a literal connection to food, they could just be the overindulgence in knowledge or strength.
Doesn't have to be but in the Bible it does specifically relate to "over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items, particularly as status symbols."
Either interpretation of Gluttony works for Izzy though.

I actually like the idea of Mimi becoming corrupted. I have always though, and have seen others express the idea, that Mimi seemed like the most likely to succumb to darkness due to her personality and vanity. I think Sloth and Greed might be her most likely Sins.
you could say that Izzy is hungry for knowledge to consume it, sinse you could use glutonny to incehace his need for knowledge
Strangely I thought Lilithmon would partner up with Hikari since she's a Darker Gatomon.

You should do the opposite of this (Human Digimon antagonists [Ex-antagonists included] with the OG Digimon adventure partner Digimon and the connected crests
(If I had to guess the line-up would probably be something along the lines of Yukio Oikawa, Maki Himekawa, Ivan [Data squad], Akihiro Kurata, Nanami [Data squad], Kouki Tsubasa, Mitsuo Yamaki (he was technically an antagonist), and Ken Ichijoji)
This was a really cool idea that never crossed my mind, and it's surprising how well it fits with the original 7(8).
However, I would swap your choices for Tai and Matt. Think of it this way: if courage is what gives someone the drive to act, sloth would be the exact opposite and make them complacent. Another interpretation would be looking at Skullgreymon dark evolution, as Tai forced it to happening by taking the easier route instead of following the intended way understanding your crest and embracing its meaning. And wrath might as well be what breaks bonds and keep people apart, fitting the opposite of friendship. But more importantly, I think Matt fits the idea of wrath so well, I could totally see a dark version of him rejecting the others, being swallowed by loneliness and ultimately falling into an unstoppable rage.
I think Izzy + Gluttony is stronger then you think. In Nanatsu no Taizai the character Merlin holds the title of 'Boars Sin of Gluttony' and too has an obsession with consuming knowledge. In this same way it could prey on Izzy's desire to gain information and be a twisting of his crest.

After watching a video by Nostalgia925, came out a few days after this one, I think GrandDracmon could be Kari's dark partner.
Maybe using her when the 7 lords try and take the other digidestined as his own plan to halt theirs as while he can take any of them 1vs1 he'd need the extra power to keep them in check from potentially ruining his own plans.
So he could make a deal with the devil with her to aid him in order to crush the others 'for their own sake'
At first I thought this was Edgy Karn just being Edgy Karn, but the more he got into the methodology of the Crowns and connecting them to the crests, the smarter the whole video became.
So as a thought experiment, I'm trying to see how they can get onto the 'path of demon lords' in 01. What episodes were they challenged and can make the wrong choice. I'm just going to use Dub names here.
I think for Joe there are three moments that stand out where he could have gone in a different direction. The first one being during WereGarurumon's debut. All of the blame being put on him by Matt, but in the end he is being held by Vegiemon, but still tells Ikkakumon to blast him. Instead of Selflessness here, I think he should've been wrathful or prideful. The second would be trying to get into the fog bank where he was ambushed and almost drowned. He chose selflessness again here to save TK, where again I think pride would be appropriate here. Finally the third is when talking to his brother about being a doctor. If ever there was a time to acknowledge Joe's hard work at school and reject even the notion that the medical field may not be for him, it's here. I'd think Pride would shine again here.
Mimi's is really easy. She became Princess Mimi and let the power get to her head. She didn't 'fall' per se, but if she was left unchecked there, rejected Sora's advice, and says the adventure is over for her, it's easy to see greed encapsulating her.
Sora's is really fun to theorycraft. And for her the two episodes in question would be when she's captured by Datamon and when Birdramon digivolved. Datamon explained to her that he would use the clone Sora, the Crest of Love, and Biyomon to defeat Etemon. This could very easily turn into 'love is a weapon' idea in Sora's head. With that in mind we get to the evolution episode where she's upset about what happened with her mother and with DemiDevimon's words. If she accepts DemiDevimon's words that she can't love, and rejects her mother's reasoning, I can see her coming to the conclusion that THAT version of love sucks. She needs a more useful, darker, version of it. Lust.
For Izzy. Overconsumption of Knowledge. I can see that as a gateway to Gluttony. Several times has he chosen Knowledge over the current situation. Knowledge over Mimi in the pyramid (until he decided to help.) Knowledge over Tentomon in the Vademon episode (until he snapped out of it.) In a way he's fine for Greed as well. I'd give him a Major in Gluttony and a Minor in greed. He's a couple coin flips away from bad decisions. Or if he didn't have friends to help him out he'd be prime material for Gluttony.
Matt is . . . immensely wrathful. In his first fight with Tai he through the first punch the moment things didn't go his way. He snapped at Sora when she took out the digimon that might have led them to find TK. He got wound up for a fight so easily against Tai at the end. But near the end he gave up. He was going to give up to the darkness and just. . .be. Sloth indeed. I would say the situations are pretty tied. My tie breaker is that Belphemon himself has Rage Mode. Which sort of covers it all.
TK has arguments with Patamon. He either apologized for them or conceded the point. If he never does that and only believes in point of view, Pride can be very easy for him. I don't think there are many inciting incidents for him. He has the arguments and he has Patamon dying. 02 showed that Patamon dying scarred him enough to HATE darkness. And he's let his anger overflow on multiple occasions. TK has expressed disappointment in Matt (for abandoning him) and has gone into wanting Tai as an older brother instead. I could see that leaning to Envy when Tai becomes all about Kari during the later stages of the series.
Tai. He definitely had the obvious pride comparisons when he got his crest. If he never course corrects, BAM. Inciting incidents would be failing to rescue Sora out of fear, reacting to Kari's illness, being proclaimed leader by the group, standing up to Piedmon, and leaving Kari behind to return to the digital world.
Envy, Pride, Wrath. Those are what's left for my thought experiment.
Joe - Wrath, Pride
TK - Wrath, Pride, Envy
Tai - Wrath, Pride
So at this point I'd give TK Envy by default. And it's between Tai and Joe.
This is how I'd rate the characters.
Joe (Pride) > Tai (Pride) > Tai (Wrath) > Joe (Wrath) As far as interesting characters go. So I'll go with that.
Apocalymon comes on the scene, destroying the crests, and deleting the Digidestined. They don't come back with positive thoughts, they come back with negative. And they come back with something unexpected. The Demon Lords. Their path to evil, to sin, complete. They destroy Apocalymon.
These are super fun ideas, love it!
On an instinctual level I want to give Lilithmon to Mimi just because she's a possible evolution for Lilymon in Cyber Sleuth, but I can't deny the way you sorted the sins with the crests was spot on! These all feel like believable vices the Adventure cast could fall into.

As for Kairi, not quite sure of Ogudomon... But there is an alternative that is said as powerful as Demon Lords; GranDracmon.

These are great but if it wasn't for the bug connection with Beelzebumon I'd swap gluttony (Beelze is solitary, no friendship) and sloth (vs knowledge and hard work). Also, how about BelialVamdemon for Ken? Belial is pretty known for his cruelty, which would be the opposite of Kindness, and he's technically a Demon Lord, even if not one of the SGDL.
You get envious of people who have their lives together without needing tests and other stuff as proof.

Digimon world data squad on ps2 was the first digimon game I got to play so this one really hits home as lucemon and the other demon lords were the main bosses of it and I sunk over way over 100 hours into it.

Seeing how you made this video. It's clear you'll make a version of this for the 02 Kids, Tamers, Frontier and Data Squad.
And it does remind me of how you practically confirmed a What if Dark/Corrupted Sprits video for Frontier is in the works. Which I'm looking forward to the most. As again, the fact that FGO's Ashwatthama when in his armor looks like a corrupted version of Agunimon works well. Especially with how he is associated with fire in game. Namely the flames of rage.
I'm actually not entirely sure I will. There are some groups that might work but I certainly want to give other Digimon groups a try with other Digidestned.
